pink lips i taste

this dismal self seems to
fancy your isolation
it's what they call attraction
to build you up and let you crawl
until you accomplish domination
i try hard to dispose
without further mention
but like a plaque you swarm
my sun waiting for an explosion
sitting on your cross
we dreamt of crucification
you beat my heart off and on
it smears red intension
i can taste the sky like lips
they cause me treason
you're the only one who sucks
the bitter out of damnation
but come to realize
you are the only one who
rakes my skin to dismantle
to crush like petals
and honor me queen of
a murder mass of passion
i guess this is what they call
the state of attraction

A Woman's Notebook

<center>~a woman’s notebook~
this body mine
permissive
soft you say
fine downy flesh
i invite you
run your fingers over my willow arms
brushing back the silk-thin hair
and watch it fall back into perfection
please excuse this smile amused
as to what makes you think
i actually change my mind
child balanced upon round hips
strong pelvis
this body mine
the builder of men
these hands braced upon my physical fortitude
i invite you in
i paint my lips in shades of mona lisa mystery
and rest patience in my lap
until you see my cast iron bone
and ready bayonet
do not turn your back on me
to find i am the enemy of indifference
and that i strike with the intent of drawing blood
come
come surrender in my arms
drink my milk from swollen ready breast
wipe my tears
and bury yours in my hair cast across a scented pillow
let my body be a warmed coverlet
yours to rest beneath
but remember
i live the night with opened eyes
look upon my profile
follow the roman line of my nose
to once again the fine hair over my lip
and if you give touch to my quiet kiss
you will find the quake that lies deep within the earth
please excuse i stare at your look bewildered
to say only this in passing
~ absent the prerogative
i have had many a foot
placed grossly on my stomach
to hold me to a burial
but i am the loam
i am the rock
i am the fallen leaf
the worm
the brush
and the pregnant seed
to answer your question
the difference is
you do not see how much of a man
i am
~to these fathers, sons and husbands
i see all of me
that you hold inside
~and so it goes
with thoughts from a woman’s notebook~

Flight

Flight
The darkest tunnel leads
to the light
The yearning soul feasts
on the sight
Hunger sated, fears abated
Calmness and peace descend
The weary soul rests, then
A gentle tug on the line sends
The dreaming soul back
from its flight

The most apparent shard
of glass
lay in her hands
left for a reason,
against this
silent throat
Two hours ago-
dinner, conversation
Everyone
tells me-
a fast car
or
Kevlar
The
body armor
fits
fine

Consider the source

Truth or lies?
Tell me which applies.
Right or wrong.
Mentally or emotinally strong.
Words that stab,
stares that wound,
skeletons locked up
deep in your tomb.
Face A or face B,
which of those do you get to see.
I see both of you,
the two in one,
and this journey
we have just begun.
So sit back,
and get used to me there.
Because from now until forever
I'm not going anywhere.

Daughter of Man
No one knows
Just who I am
Yet I am simply
The daughter of Man
Grasping my hands
Of Heaven's dirt
A touch of love
A touch of hurt
From Death I come
To Death I go
On whispering winds
To claim my soul
<center>************</center>
Hope
In the midst of night
A miserable night
I lay in a starless field
Searching for my inner light
Then a wandering wind
Whispers to me
And I listen with all my might
What I hear, Brings a tear
Then slowly fills my heart
As the voice drifts away
It leaves a tiny spark
For as I look to the sky
A star defies the dark
<center>************</center>
Skeletons in the Closet
state of mind
here i find
ghosts
simply knocking
on my soul
-go away-
to them i say
no one's home
i am all alone
and so i wish to stay
i hear them laugh
i hear them cry
-go away?-
i hear one say
let us out so we may
<center>************</center>
In My Corner
Here in my corner
Whispering in my head
I wonder what they said
And I wonder can they see me
Here in the backroom of my mind
Here in my corner
I might hear
Time
Slip away
And I wonder what they say
While I play with memories
Here in the backroom of my mind
Sometimes I might glimpse
A distant
Shadow
For an instant
But I just smile and look away
For I don't understand what they say
Why do they leave me here
Why don't they break this mirror
And discover there is much to find
Here inside my mind
And I wonder can they hear me
Screaming...
Here in the backroom of my mind
<center>************</center>">
Mamma
So mamma
do you hear
like i
death at the door
waiting
for life
to be no more
than a whisper
do you see
like i
the man at the door
to whom i kneel
from whom i cower
do you sense
his ultimate power
over me
life
and matter
So mamma
do you feel
like i
the need and desire
to become
a silenced whisper...
<center>************</center>
Yesterday's Deeds
The sounds of yesterdays deeds
Are echoing in my mind
Breaking into empty solitude
Distorting sound and time
Creating terror where it goes
Leaving nothing behind
Desperately I flee
Racing through my mind
Searching for that hidden room
That it never seems to find
<center>************</center>
Insane
I'm an insane creature
With an insane mind
Insane outside
And inside you'll find
An insane creature
With an insane mind
<center>************</center>
Doorway
The darkness surrounds
A single light
Far in the distance
I struggle for sight
Then gently a whisper
A name I once knew
Tells me of knowledge
I know to be true
There is a doorway
An entrance to night
Come sail until morning
Second star to the right
<center>************</center>
loved by one
he who stole
and kissed my soul
tore apart
yet left a spark
embraced the sun
and loved by one
he who caught
my every thought
lived not so far
on a distant star
pulled fire from ice
not once but twice
he who knew
life thru and thru
whose whisper caressed
and eyes undressed
had not riches or gold
but love so bold
<center>************</center>
Unnoticed
Unnoticed I die
Shedding tears
Wrapped up in fears
Thoughts of sadness
No one to love...
Banging my head against the wall
Breaking open, spilling all
I hold the knife to end it all
Laughing while I watch the blood
Drip down my arm
Then turn to mud
Crying now as I fall
I wonder who will find
The blood streaks on the wall
<center>************</center>
Patiently
Grasp my hand
I'll lead you
From this pain
Stray away and I'll wait
Patiently until I see
Your hand reaching for me
Don't worry I'll hold tight
We'll guide each other 'till daylight
Then look around and find
This beautiful world
Created by you and me
<center>************</center>
The Question
Death is the answer
To the unknown question
The question asked in the midst of night
It is known by few
Answered by none
The few who know
Know no more
The question is asked
In the unknown home
Where the old are young
And the young are none
Where candles burn
For none to see
An people wander aimlessly
<center>************</center>
Death's Guide
The void surrounds me
Hounds me
What is it I hear
Sounds so near
I open my eyes
Surprise
Someone stands there
His emptiness stares
Darkness enfolds him
Becomes him
I try to hide
From this guide
Then he summons me
And I cannot see
I start to cry
For its time to die
<center>************</center>
The Shadow
The winds are whispering
Of silent change
All around me I feel the pain
A shadow is coming
To join the race
When will he
Show his hidden face
Another day
Another hour
Just how sad
Is the death of a flower
<center>************</center>
I Wonder
I wonder what lies over the hill
Beyond the stars after the kill
I wonder what tomorrow will bring
Which flower will bloom which bird will sing
I wonder what the future holds
Where will I be when life unfolds
I wonder what lies over the sea
Beyond the moon; inside of me
I wonder what makes me breathe
My heart beat; the spider weave
And I wonder if I will ever know
Before my last breath; before my last show
<center>************</center>
Twirling
In the morning twighlight sky
Wisps of thought wonder by
In the twirling about my mind
I think of life and what I'll find
In the mist of forgotten past
I cling to memories I wish to last
In the soundness of my sleep
I hear the laughter I hide so deep
In the dark and dreary hour
I grasp my heart and pray for power
In the last and final song
I sing for death for which I long

Featured Artist of The Week (Maid of Iron 11/21-11/27/2005)
To Him Belong the Roses
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
‘Ere they bloom for him
For love doth never fail
Touch not their scarlet petals
Bend not their thorny stalk
Trod carefully in yon Garden
For sacred is your walk
Twas here, he first professed his love
Twas there, I wept in grief
For iron is the velvet glove
That severs life cut brief
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
With Suffering he vanquished
With Courage he prevailed
Yon fountain sang it’s joyful song
To fill his eves with peace
While yonder Oak, grew ever strong
And sheltered ‘neath its leaves
There among Forget-Me-Nots
Tiny herbs, and Four O’clocks,
His sturdy boot stepped lightly;
While sunset skies, and tear filled eyes,
Adored him, ever Knightly
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
Stain not their scarlet petals
Nor dare defile their trail
Trod carefully in yon Garden
Speak softly as you talk
To him belong the Roses
And there he ever walks

This poem is dedicated to a dear friend of mine.
In the Still Evening
In the still evening
I consider you
What could be
What is not;
And I recall the former,
As I withdraw my lot
I’ve no doubt
I could love you;
Had you not come to late,
But there shines a soul
Above you,
And tragic was his fate
Now hear my words this day,
And companion hear me well:
You move my soul in ways
But love doth never fail
For it is he
Who claims my laden heart,
And I shall not repent,
Nor yield to this vein start
You’ve another fate that’s certain
And I’ve another road to walk,
Let us laugh and draw the curtain
And cease this foolish talk
Leave the heart in peace
That shares, but not its center
And we shall both be free,
To gift our warmth in winter
Wrapped there;
In soothing robes of laughter,
We will share the fire;
As memories fore and after,
Wax rich and never tire
But let us stand on truth
And cease from pondering folly,
Wiser than our youth,
We’ve met and hailed the volley
Like fair warriors
We have vanquished;
And unashamed been bested,
We’ve sailed upon the wing,
And peacefully we’ve rested
And you and I we know
As we sit and share the fire,
We’ve journeyed two old souls,
And each we both inspire
Remembering who we are
And what one to the other,
We’ll ever walk the stars,
Companion, kindred brother
In the still evening
I consider you
What could be
What is not;
And I recall the former,
As I withdraw my lot
I’ve no doubt
I could love you;
Had you not come to late,
But there shines a soul
Above you,
And tragic was his fate

I will come to thee in the night
Weep not from the rampart
Upon the sight of my passing
For the mist shall flee thine eyes
And pipers pipe thee dancing
The day is but a moment ‘afore
The promise of ages remembered
For naught that we once gladly swore
Shall be reduced to cinder
Aye, laughter shall return
For the nether veil, shall be bested
Once more, midst fire that burns
Once more, when time is wrested
Death vanquished, laid low, by Everglow
I will come to thee in the night
Trailing Laughter midst your dreams
No more a tear for you to shed
Soul ‘ner forgets it’s twin
Love ‘ner departs the dead
There lives no vile destroyer
Can crush mingling of the Soul
There lives no foe so able
To vanquish Everglow
Through ages
Death we’ve conquered
‘Ner barred by silent graves
Weep not, for Soul lives on
And Love, it ever craves
The Beloved, of Everglow
I will come to thee in the night
When the hour is late
Where the shadows fall long
Forever twined fate
Everglow shines on
There midst silvered shadow
Will I stand beside thy bed
While ages weave what mattered
And carve there what was said
I will come
When shadows bathe thy grief
Despair not, I am at thy side
For I am more than memory
I am the moonstruck tide:
I am the Everglow, returning in your soul
I will come to thee in the night
Weep not from the rampart
Upon the sight of my passing
For the mist shall flee thine eyes
And pipers pipe thee dancing
Lift thine eyes to heaven
Hear fate declare it so:
Forever shall we cleave,
Two bound in Everglow

Farewell Richard Taylor
Farewell Kindred Soul
An ocean distant is no boundary
We’ll oft recall your goodness
Your noble thoughts and finery
Thank you for the words you gave
The righteous works, the thoughts of praise
For all the Light you brought to bear:
Thank you Sir, your breed is rare
Fair your words and fair your heart
Your poets pen your sacred art
Let silence fall as now you part
As every fellow feels this dart
Let each one reflect a moment:
Why such a valiant walked away
Let silence wield her answer
As the medley ceases play
For a finer of the dancer's
We've lost on this sad day
The Muses stand aside
At your taking of your leave
To make way for their pride
A child whom they bequeathed
And many furrowed brows
Show hearts that are a’grieved
As silently, we bid thee:
Farewell, Kindred Soul;
Thank you, your words have touched us all.

The Scarlet Sail
Twas a breaking virgin morn
Some yesteryear ago
Restless silver waves
Bedecked in Sunrise glow
The vessel lay at anchor
Just off the sandbar there
Majestic in her glory
Beauteous and fair
Her sails were trimmed in scarlet
Her oarsmen stout and strong
Her bow was ever faithful
Her stern ‘ner veered to wrong
The pride of the King’s battalion
Came prancing on the shore
His lustful eye beheld her
His hand upon his sword
The breeze blew fair that morn
As she sought to take her leave
But every soul on board
Was doomed that day to grieve
Now the captain loved his crew
Who, loyal, served him well
For long they’d sailed together
Beneath that scarlet sail
Thus to this great isle
They’d anchored in the night
With thoughts of food and water
To fill their hold come light
Now the King was a mighty warrior
But ruthless in his greed
For all within his borders
Were forced to pay or bleed
His Commander eyed her trimmings
And with fury spurred his stallion
Before the day found ending
He swore to have that galleon
With boastful pride he reckoned
To plunder all her treasure
And as the palace beckoned
He fancied his King’s pleasure
Into the great hall
Before the High King
Strutting forth to kneel;
Saluting as he bowed,
Before the Royal heel
He gave what he had witnessed
His report of the scarlet sail
His king did not dismiss
Mere nodded, “Go, prevail.”
Now armed with his battalion
Returned the lustful captain
While there upon the shoreline
The oarsmen beached their rafting
Their captain in their midst
Fair son of a noble brow
Glory shone about him
A’ landing in the bow
Then came a mighty war cry
And hooves upon the beach
The oarsmen’s furied eyes
Sought weapons out of reach
The slaughter gave no quarter
And many fell that day
There beside the water
As hellions had their way
The captain fell the hardest
His head a trophy banner
To bring forth to the King
Displayed in proper manner
With leisure and with laughter
Returned the bloodied battalion
As reddened waves, became the graves
Of the crew of the mighty galleon
Into the great hall
Before the High King
Strutted the Commander,
forth to kneel;
Saluting as he bowed,
Before the Royal heel
He gave what he had witnessed
His report of the scarlet sail
His king did not dismiss
Mere nodded, “It is well”
A feast of fair delight
For every soldier there
Came calling each that night
To glean their hero’s share
And there before the King
Assured of his reward
His Commander raised the glorious head
So mangled by his sword
The King was struck to life
And silent fell the hall
For wrathful was his visage
And terrible his gall
His narrowed eyes a’widened
He half rose from his throne
His cup slipped from his fingers
His face no longer stone
The pride of the Kings battalion
Smiling, smirking there
Began to feel a shudder
And Fate pronounced: “Beware”
A wail first faintly heard
Began to grow and pierce
And tears streamed down the face
Of the Royal King so fierce
A chill ripped every soul
And the hall became a tomb
For many elder there
Bore witness in that room
For there within the fist
Of the pride of the King’s battalion
Hung the head of the High King’s son:
Captain of the galleon
No soul escaped his fury
That had taken part that day
For Commander and battalion
Were ordered to be flayed
Twas a breaking virgin morn
Some yesteryear ago
Restless silver waves
Bedecked in Sunrise glow
The vessel lay at anchor
Just off the sandbar there
Majestic in her glory
Beauteous and fair
Her sails were trimmed in scarlet
Her oarsmen stout and strong
Her bow was ever faithful
Her stern ‘ner veered to wrong
The pride of the King’s battalion
Was butchered on the shore
His screams prevailed him not
And blood began to pour
And there just off the sandbar
The ghostly galleon swayed
As the spirits there that manned her
Beheld their henchmen flayed
And when the moon was risen
Beneath it’s silvery light
The scarlet sail took wind
And sailed into the night

This poem is dedicated to those of Clan Colquhoun (Calhoun), and Clan MacClintock, who fell at the Battle of The Glen of Sorrows, through the hand of Clan McGregor.
Ode to the Lairds of Argyle
James the 6th bore Scotland’s scepter,
The Lairds of Argyle ruled themselves;
For the Eagle soars alone,
And ‘ere does he prevail
Twas winter,
In the Year of Our Lord 1603
The cold came,
Blood red cloaked that year;
Evil stepped forth center,
With Him marched cruel tears
Wretched, cruel the fate
That seized Fair Luss that season
For through her noble gates
Rode Gregor with his legions
Within The Glen of Sorrows
Valiant men fell slaughtered,
‘Neath ax, and bow, and sword
No mercy there was bartered
For Alistair, of Glenstrae
Clan McGregor’s lawless Chief,
Deserved of Sword and Fire
Naught but murderous thief,
Assailed the realm once more
To grip the land in grief,
To slay, the Noble Laird of Luss
There with two divisions
Came Alistair in rage
A cutthroat fiendish mission
A jackal loosed from cage
Four hundred thanes he trust
Stole with him there for killing
Stained they the soil of Luss
Her noble blood there spilling
Black John within their ranks
Alistair’s cruel darkened brother
There hidden on the banks
To crush the Laird from cover
A division loomed ahead
Another stalked behind
And trapped between the twain
Rode, Laird, and Kin, and Kind
Their women walked among them
Their babes upon their breast
Three hundred fifty valiant
The Host, Fair Luss’s Crest
Strong clamor of the Sword
Rang true the dirge of Death
Dancing ‘neath the sunlight
‘Til mustered final breath
Ore half their number fell
Slaughtered on the field
Ambushed by their neighbor
Crushed ‘neath kindred’s shield
His horse slain there beneath him
The Laird of Luss did fall
The mighty foe of Gregor
Arose, still standing tall
The prisoner’s found no mercy
Once snared in twisted fate
For wicked were their captors
And evil was their trait
To each one there came murder
Sent by Hell’s cruel wraith
Slaughtered there as captives
Adorned in Honor’s faith
Justice seized her moment
And strolled midst mighty thanes
The archer bold MacClintock
Strung bow and chose his aim;
And there by his true hand,
Black John was rightly slain
The Glen cleared then of battle
Alas! The carnage there!
The bloodbath claimed as chattel,
The Host of Luss, The Fair
The widows shroud their spears
In bloodied rags of loved ones fallen,
And mounted on white stallions
To Crown came vengeance callin’
“Hear our words this day,
We’ll have our men avenged!
Behold their garments bloodied:
Grant to us revenge!”
The Lairds of Argyle swore their oath
And pledged their righteous names
To crush Clan Gregor’s throat
With mighty Sword and Flames
By King were they commissioned
With rote of Fire and Sword
To vanquish was their mission
And mighty was their hoard
A Widow’s tears inspire
Fair Justice lent Her cause
Before the Sword and Fire
McGregor fled Her laws
The gallows loomed at last
For Chiefs of Clan McGregor
Who preyed on whom they would
Both mighty, and the beggar
And there before the folk
The mighty Chieftains swung
A lesson on a rope
For fiends were that day hung
James the 6th bore Scotland’s scepter;
The Lairds of Argyle ruled themselves,
For the Eagle soars alone,
And ‘ere does he prevail
Many were his nestlings
Slain there, at Glen of Sorrows
But ere lives on their memory,
To soar through all tomorrows

Valhalla's Gate
by Maid of Iron
Gather ye round the high fire,
Tis time for ye're tales to be told
See yonder the face of Valhalla,
Within the eyes of the valiants of old
For there they stand in the shadows,
Watchers who measure ye're weight
For it is they who will stand there to meet ye,
When ye come to Valhalla's great gate
Hear, the age of their glory,
When crimson and pinions flew:
Shed no tear for the warriors cruel story,
For it now comes passed down to you
To walk the road to Valhalla,
Where only the mighty dwell
To do less for souls such as yours men,
Is to sentence oneself unto hell
So take heed to the blood and the glory,
To the sword which sings it's own story
Stand fast to your God, forsake not your honor,
And hear ye're kin in Valhalla a'roaring
To bring ye home,
To set ye free
But first the road unwinds before thee...
And you must trod it til the end;
For no man shall enter Valhalla,
Who deserts his path, nor forsakes his friend
So gather ye round the high fire,
Witnesses watch ye tonight:
For the warrior kings of Valhalla,
Have come to hear tales of ye're might
Sing ye, ye're battle song,
Sing of your deeds, for the night is long,
Yet far to brief for such a task...
For here as we sit, every man worth his weight,
The mighty shall judge from Valhalla's great gate,
And choose for their choosing, their next son of fate
Stand, and let it be told,
Your fame, and your story:
The deeds ye have done,
What ye've lost, what ye've won,
To ye're shame, or to ye're glory,
And perhaps some distant scribe
Who awaits his Kings's command,
May yet inscribe your name
On the rolls of Valhalla's great band
Gather ye round the high fire,
Tis time for your tales to be told;
See yonder the face of Valhalla,
Within the eyes of the valiants of old
For there they stand in the shadows,
Watchers who measure ye're weight,
For it is they who will stand there to meet ye
When ye come to Valhalla's great gate.

The Messenger
by Maid of Iron
He came but in a dream
With the great blessing
Of Wakantanka
The Holy One
From the past,
Grandfather stepped forward,
He soared into the dream fields;
Pure, like Eagle, he came there
Where I wandered;
Blindly running wild,
Searching like a child
And he called, a voice, ever calling,
He led me to it
There, within the deepest wood,
Beloved by the ancient 5 Nations
The Great Tree of Peace
Sacred and Mighty, there it stood
There, near pure flowing river,
Messenger of Wakantanka,
Creator, Sacred Breath Giver,
His love you placed within my hands
Led there was I, to His blessing
Led there was I, to His gift
Where human feet are Forbidden
But the dreamer dares to drift
He reached, beneath the tree,
Withdrew two Feathers
And bestowed them both to me
He spoke a language I’ve long forgot
But his sacred words, they were not for naught
Red Chief of Honor
Thank you for your gifting
Throughout this life and after
Guardian, faithfully you have led me
When others sought to scatter
The feathers I carry,
They lie in my breast
For there they dwell safely,
Unsullied, at rest
Grant me the wisdom,
To bear them with care
Lend me the grace,
To stand, and be fair
Help me to honor,
And never forsake
The way of the Red Road,
The path of the Lake
And if I should falter,
And be tempted to stray
Come thou once more,
And show me the way
Lead me beside the great sacred fountains
Ever singing, as they rush to fall below;
Walk with me,
Cross the great living mountains
Stand with me, as we go
We have walked
The Good Red Road together
And I shall not relinquish,
The birthright of my feathers
And when my time is come,
And I am beckoned to the throne
I know that Love will vanquish,
The folly of this home
And there within the wood
Once more we shall be,
For I shall stand beside you,
Beneath the Great Peace Tree

"Hearken, that peace may continue unto future days! Always listen to the words of the Great Creator, for he has spoken. Unite people, let not evil find lodging in your minds. For the Great Creator has spoken and the cause of Peace shall not become old. The cause of Peace shall not die if you remember the Great Creator." ~Jikohnsaseh, before the Great Council of the Iriquois Confederacy

Beneath the Oak
He took her there;
Beneath the oak
While across the glen,
Ten thousand war slain men,
Lay dead beyond the smoke
What was that within her eye?
A glance, but just a glimmer,
As a blade warns with it's shimmer,
Before the shadowed wing doth fly
He gazed upon her form;
As she turned at last to leave
While some forboding distant storm,
Came stalking at his sleeve
And he watched her;
Until she was no more:
Until he could not see the arrow,
That struck her down and pierced her core
He sought the road, and found it;
It clutched him to it's breast
But alas, he could not suckle,
His soul would not give rest
Til at last he no more fought it;
The unrelenting truth:
For whilst he'd warred and ranged,
the oak had taken root
Still onward did he wander,
For his fate would not be stilled
Too late he saw his foe,
Too red the blood that spilled
For there within a whirlwind;
Wrought by fury's mighty steed,
He came unto his end,
When he turned to round the bend,
And he felt her like a seed
Within him;
Was her soul,
Reflected in his eyes
Ablaze on last night's coals
And his life it drained away
To quench the dust where he lay dying,
While in some far & distance place
He heard a woman crying...
He came unto his end;
And his spirit made demand:
She dwelt within his soul,
And he would search
Throughout the land
As summer passed to fall
As fall to winter's kiss,
He trod the Glen of Sorrow's,
He sailed beyond Skye's mist,
He searched through his tommorow's,
His soul declared, "Persist!"
And there, when a year had passed;
He found himself once more,
Standing beneath the oak,
A stranger upon her shore
With searching eyes,
With knowing soul,
He lingered 'neath the bows;
Where once she'd held him closely,
Where once they'd spoke and vowed:
"Never will I leave thee;
Forever ye are mine,
Throughout the Glen of Sorrows,
Throughout the Seas of Time."
"Forever I will love thee;
Nor shall I refrain;
I ride with thee through the ages,
With thee, I'll sail through Neptune's rages,
Ye are my sun, my wind, my rain..."
The breeze adorned his hair,
Whilst it whispered through the oak
His eyes closed at the memory,
As he recalled the words they spoke
While there, beyond the treeline,
She rent asunder death's cruel cloak
And she came to him so softly,
That he might take her 'neath the oak
And when the new day found them,
He loved her as he spoke
While swaying supple bows,
A silent witness to their vows,
Beheld the mighty oak.
Two hundred years would pass;
A thousand feet would trod the paths,
Through the Glenn's, and through the wood;
The past beget the future,
The future birthed the past,
And still the old tree stood
There, in the silence of the forrest;
Where the seasons lived and died,
The mighty oak beheld,
As a rider came full stride
And galloped there;
To the lady 'neath it's bow's
Two spirit's ever joined,
Beneath the Oak
Once more they vowed:
"Never will I leave thee;
Forever ye are mine,
Throughout the Glen of Sorrows,
Throughout the Seas of Time."
"Forever I will love thee;
Nor shall I refrain;
I ride with thee through the ages,
With thee, I'll sail through Neptune's rages,
Ye are my sun, my wind, my rain."

I Have Ridden Many Horses
I have ridden many horses
Clutched their manes within my hands,
Felt the call of sweet, sweet spirits,
As they led me cross the land
I’ve seen the face of Wind
As She soared on wings of Hawk,
I’ve heard the Cougar scream,
And thus, the woodland talk
I’ve seen the many colors
Sparkling gold and shades of green,
While butterflies did dance,
Then died with silent screams
And there, on Grandfather Mountain,
Where ancient Elders keep the fire,
Eagle keeps his watch,
With golden eyes that never tire
The people dwelt in peace
With their brethren of the wood,
And every lodge did honor,
The land, and it was good
Then there in sweet Watauga
Where the waters flowed so clear,
Bear paused to rise and stand,
When first came the pioneer
Plundered for her gold
By lustful souls of greed,
Father Sky bore silent witness,
As Mother Earth was forced to bleed
The Trail of Tears,
Which forced them
To leave their sacred home,
Spans woven with the bones
Of those who wept,
While Eden groaned
Time has not forgotten
The land but sleeps to heal,
While fools who sit besotted,
Claim that which they did steal
I have ridden many horses
Clutched their manes within my hands,
Felt the call of sweet, sweet spirits,
As they led me cross the land
I’ve seen the face of Wind
As She soared on wings of Hawk,
I’ve heard the Cougar scream,
And thus, the woodland talk
In silent wait for Justice
Mother Earth she sleeps to heal,
While Creator strokes her gently,
And Eagle bears His seal
Father Sky looks ever on
While time, it has it’s way,
For Mother Earth who sleeps to heal,
Shall wake renewed someday
And the people shall return
To the home they lost to greed,
And no more then shall Eden,
Submit to weep and bleed

To Him Belong the Roses
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
‘Ere they bloom for him
For love doth never fail
Touch not their scarlet petals
Bend not their thorny stalk
Trod carefully in yon Garden
For sacred is your walk
Twas here, he first professed his love
Twas there, I wept in grief
For iron is the velvet glove
That severs life cut brief
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
With Suffering he vanquished
With Courage he prevailed
Yon fountain sang it’s joyful song
To fill his eves with peace
While yonder Oak, grew ever strong
And sheltered ‘neath its leaves
There among Forget-Me-Nots
Tiny herbs, and Four O’clocks,
His sturdy boot stepped lightly;
While sunset skies, and tear filled eyes,
Adored him, ever Knightly
To him belong the Roses
The Champion of the Vale
Stain not their scarlet petals
Nor dare defile their trail
Trod carefully in yon Garden
Speak softly as you talk
To him belong the Roses
And there he ever walks

This poem is dedicated to a dear friend of mine.
In the Still Evening
In the still evening
I consider you
What could be
What is not;
And I recall the former,
As I withdraw my lot
I’ve no doubt
I could love you;
Had you not come to late,
But there shines a soul
Above you,
And tragic was his fate
Now hear my words this day,
And companion hear me well:
You move my soul in ways
But love doth never fail
For it is he
Who claims my laden heart,
And I shall not repent,
Nor yield to this vein start
You’ve another fate that’s certain
And I’ve another road to walk,
Let us laugh and draw the curtain
And cease this foolish talk
Leave the heart in peace
That shares, but not its center
And we shall both be free,
To gift our warmth in winter
Wrapped there;
In soothing robes of laughter,
We will share the fire;
As memories fore and after,
Wax rich and never tire
But let us stand on truth
And cease from pondering folly,
Wiser than our youth,
We’ve met and hailed the volley
Like fair warriors
We have vanquished;
And unashamed been bested,
We’ve sailed upon the wing,
And peacefully we’ve rested
And you and I we know
As we sit and share the fire,
We’ve journeyed two old souls,
And each we both inspire
Remembering who we are
And what one to the other,
We’ll ever walk the stars,
Companion, kindred brother
In the still evening
I consider you
What could be
What is not;
And I recall the former,
As I withdraw my lot
I’ve no doubt
I could love you;
Had you not come to late,
But there shines a soul
Above you,
And tragic was his fate

Everglow: Love of Ages
I will come to thee in the night
Weep not from the rampart

Once more, when time is wrested
Death vanquished, laid low, by Everglow
I will come to thee in the night
Trailing Laughter midst your dreams
No more a tear for you to shed
Soul ‘ner forgets it’s twin

And Love, it ever craves
The Beloved, of Everglow
I will come to thee in the night
When the hour is late
Where the shadows fall long
Forever twined fate
Everglow shines on
There midst silvered shadow
Will I stand beside thy bed
While ages weave what mattered
And carve there what was said
I will come
When shadows bathe thy grief
Despair not, I am at thy side
For I am more than memory
I am the moonstruck tide:
I am the Everglow, returning in your soul
I will come to thee in the night
Weep not from the rampart

And pipers pipe thee dancing
Lift thine eyes to heaven
Hear fate declare it so:

As the spirits there that manned her
Beheld their henchmen flayed
And when the moon was risen
Beneath it’s silvery light
The scarlet sail took wind
And sailed into the night

This poem is dedicated to those of Clan Colquhoun (Calhoun), and Clan MacClintock, who fell at the Battle of The Glen of Sorrows, through the hand of Clan McGregor.
Ode to the Lairds of Argyle
James the 6th bore Scotland’s scepter,
The Lairds of Argyle ruled themselves;
For the Eagle soars alone,
And ‘ere does he prevail
Twas winter,
In the Year of Our Lord 1603
The cold came,
Blood red cloaked that year;
Evil stepped forth center,
With Him marched cruel tears
Wretched, cruel the fate
That seized Fair Luss that season
For through her noble gates
Rode Gregor with his legions
Within The Glen of Sorrows
Valiant men fell slaughtered,
‘Neath ax, and bow, and sword
No mercy there was bartered
For Alistair, of Glenstrae
Clan McGregor’s lawless Chief,
Deserved of Sword and Fire
Naught but murderous thief,
Assailed the realm once more
To grip the land in grief,
To slay, the Noble Laird of Luss
There with two divisions
Came Alistair in rage
A cutthroat fiendish mission
A jackal loosed from cage
Four hundred thanes he trust
Stole with him there for killing
Stained they the soil of Luss
Her noble blood there spilling
Black John within their ranks
Alistair’s cruel darkened brother
There hidden on the banks
To crush the Laird from cover
A division loomed ahead
Another stalked behind
And trapped between the twain
Rode, Laird, and Kin, and Kind
Their women walked among them
Their babes upon their breast
Three hundred fifty valiant
The Host, Fair Luss’s Crest
Strong clamor of the Sword
Rang true the dirge of Death
Dancing ‘neath the sunlight
‘Til mustered final breath
Ore half their number fell
Slaughtered on the field
Ambushed by their neighbor
Crushed ‘neath kindred’s shield
His horse slain there beneath him
The Laird of Luss did fall
The mighty foe of Gregor
Arose, still standing tall
The prisoner’s found no mercy
Once snared in twisted fate
For wicked were their captors
And evil was their trait
To each one there came murder
Sent by Hell’s cruel wraith
Slaughtered there as captives
Adorned in Honor’s faith
Justice seized her moment
And strolled midst mighty thanes
The archer bold MacClintock
Strung bow and chose his aim;
And there by his true hand,
Black John was rightly slain
The Glen cleared then of battle
Alas! The carnage there!
The bloodbath claimed as chattel,
The Host of Luss, The Fair
The widows shroud their spears
In bloodied rags of loved ones fallen,
And mounted on white stallions
To Crown came vengeance callin’
“Hear our words this day,
We’ll have our men avenged!
Behold their garments bloodied:
Grant to us revenge!”
The Lairds of Argyle swore their oath
And pledged their righteous names
To crush Clan Gregor’s throat
With mighty Sword and Flames
By King were they commissioned
With rote of Fire and Sword
To vanquish was their mission
And mighty was their hoard
A Widow’s tears inspire
Fair Justice lent Her cause
Before the Sword and Fire
McGregor fled Her laws
The gallows loomed at last
For Chiefs of Clan McGregor
Who preyed on whom they would
Both mighty, and the beggar
And there before the folk
The mighty Chieftains swung
A lesson on a rope
For fiends were that day hung
James the 6th bore Scotland’s scepter;
The Lairds of Argyle ruled themselves,
For the Eagle soars alone,
And ‘ere does he prevail
Many were his nestlings
Slain there, at Glen of Sorrows
But ere lives on their memory,
To soar through all tomorrows

Valhalla's Gate
by Maid of Iron
Gather ye round the high fire,
Tis time for ye're tales to be told
See yonder the face of Valhalla,
Within the eyes of the valiants of old
For there they stand in the shadows,
Watchers who measure ye're weight
For it is they who will stand there to meet ye,
When ye come to Valhalla's great gate
Hear, the age of their glory,
When crimson and pinions flew:
Shed no tear for the warriors cruel story,
For it now comes passed down to you
To walk the road to Valhalla,
Where only the mighty dwell
To do less for souls such as yours men,
Is to sentence oneself unto hell
So take heed to the blood and the glory,
To the sword which sings it's own story
Stand fast to your God, forsake not your honor,
And hear ye're kin in Valhalla a'roaring
To bring ye home,
To set ye free
But first the road unwinds before thee...
And you must trod it til the end;
For no man shall enter Valhalla,
Who deserts his path, nor forsakes his friend
So gather ye round the high fire,
Witnesses watch ye tonight:
For the warrior kings of Valhalla,
Have come to hear tales of ye're might
Sing ye, ye're battle song,
Sing of your deeds, for the night is long,
Yet far to brief for such a task...
For here as we sit, every man worth his weight,
The mighty shall judge from Valhalla's great gate,
And choose for their choosing, their next son of fate
Stand, and let it be told,
Your fame, and your story:
The deeds ye have done,
What ye've lost, what ye've won,
To ye're shame, or to ye're glory,
And perhaps some distant scribe
Who awaits his Kings's command,
May yet inscribe your name
On the rolls of Valhalla's great band
Gather ye round the high fire,
Tis time for your tales to be told;
See yonder the face of Valhalla,
Within the eyes of the valiants of old
For there they stand in the shadows,
Watchers who measure ye're weight,
For it is they who will stand there to meet ye
When ye come to Valhalla's great gate.

The Messenger
by Maid of Iron
He came but in a dream
With the great blessing
Of Wakantanka
The Holy One
From the past,
Grandfather stepped forward,
He soared into the dream fields;
Pure, like Eagle, he came there
Where I wandered;
Blindly running wild,
Searching like a child
And he called, a voice, ever calling,
He led me to it
There, within the deepest wood,
Beloved by the ancient 5 Nations
The Great Tree of Peace
Sacred and Mighty, there it stood
There, near pure flowing river,
Messenger of Wakantanka,
Creator, Sacred Breath Giver,
His love you placed within my hands
Led there was I, to His blessing
Led there was I, to His gift
Where human feet are Forbidden
But the dreamer dares to drift
He reached, beneath the tree,
Withdrew two Feathers
And bestowed them both to me
He spoke a language I’ve long forgot
But his sacred words, they were not for naught
Red Chief of Honor
Thank you for your gifting
Throughout this life and after
Guardian, faithfully you have led me
When others sought to scatter
The feathers I carry,
They lie in my breast
For there they dwell safely,
Unsullied, at rest
Grant me the wisdom,
To bear them with care
Lend me the grace,
To stand, and be fair
Help me to honor,
And never forsake
The way of the Red Road,
The path of the Lake
And if I should falter,
And be tempted to stray
Come thou once more,
And show me the way
Lead me beside the great sacred fountains
Ever singing, as they rush to fall below;
Walk with me,
Cross the great living mountains
Stand with me, as we go
We have walked
The Good Red Road together
And I shall not relinquish,
The birthright of my feathers
And when my time is come,
And I am beckoned to the throne
I know that Love will vanquish,
The folly of this home
And there within the wood
Once more we shall be,
For I shall stand beside you,
Beneath the Great Peace Tree

"Hearken, that peace may continue unto future days! Always listen to the words of the Great Creator, for he has spoken. Unite people, let not evil find lodging in your minds. For the Great Creator has spoken and the cause of Peace shall not become old. The cause of Peace shall not die if you remember the Great Creator." ~Jikohnsaseh, before the Great Council of the Iriquois Confederacy

Beneath the Oak
He took her there;
Beneath the oak
While across the glen,
Ten thousand war slain men,
Lay dead beyond the smoke
What was that within her eye?
A glance, but just a glimmer,
As a blade warns with it's shimmer,
Before the shadowed wing doth fly
He gazed upon her form;
As she turned at last to leave
While some forboding distant storm,
Came stalking at his sleeve
And he watched her;
Until she was no more:
Until he could not see the arrow,
That struck her down and pierced her core
He sought the road, and found it;
It clutched him to it's breast
But alas, he could not suckle,
His soul would not give rest
Til at last he no more fought it;
The unrelenting truth:
For whilst he'd warred and ranged,
the oak had taken root
Still onward did he wander,
For his fate would not be stilled
Too late he saw his foe,
Too red the blood that spilled
For there within a whirlwind;
Wrought by fury's mighty steed,
He came unto his end,
When he turned to round the bend,
And he felt her like a seed
Within him;
Was her soul,
Reflected in his eyes
Ablaze on last night's coals
And his life it drained away
To quench the dust where he lay dying,
While in some far & distance place
He heard a woman crying...
He came unto his end;
And his spirit made demand:
She dwelt within his soul,
And he would search
Throughout the land
As summer passed to fall
As fall to winter's kiss,
He trod the Glen of Sorrow's,
He sailed beyond Skye's mist,
He searched through his tommorow's,
His soul declared, "Persist!"
And there, when a year had passed;
He found himself once more,
Standing beneath the oak,
A stranger upon her shore
With searching eyes,
With knowing soul,
He lingered 'neath the bows;
Where once she'd held him closely,
Where once they'd spoke and vowed:
"Never will I leave thee;
Forever ye are mine,
Throughout the Glen of Sorrows,
Throughout the Seas of Time."
"Forever I will love thee;
Nor shall I refrain;
I ride with thee through the ages,
With thee, I'll sail through Neptune's rages,
Ye are my sun, my wind, my rain..."
The breeze adorned his hair,
Whilst it whispered through the oak
His eyes closed at the memory,
As he recalled the words they spoke
While there, beyond the treeline,
She rent asunder death's cruel cloak
And she came to him so softly,
That he might take her 'neath the oak
And when the new day found them,
He loved her as he spoke
While swaying supple bows,
A silent witness to their vows,
Beheld the mighty oak.
Two hundred years would pass;
A thousand feet would trod the paths,
Through the Glenn's, and through the wood;
The past beget the future,
The future birthed the past,
And still the old tree stood
There, in the silence of the forrest;
Where the seasons lived and died,
The mighty oak beheld,
As a rider came full stride
And galloped there;
To the lady 'neath it's bow's
Two spirit's ever joined,
Beneath the Oak
Once more they vowed:
"Never will I leave thee;
Forever ye are mine,
Throughout the Glen of Sorrows,
Throughout the Seas of Time."
"Forever I will love thee;
Nor shall I refrain;
I ride with thee through the ages,
With thee, I'll sail through Neptune's rages,
Ye are my sun, my wind, my rain."

I Have Ridden Many Horses
I have ridden many horses
Clutched their manes within my hands,
Felt the call of sweet, sweet spirits,
As they led me cross the land
I’ve seen the face of Wind
As She soared on wings of Hawk,
I’ve heard the Cougar scream,
And thus, the woodland talk
I’ve seen the many colors
Sparkling gold and shades of green,
While butterflies did dance,
Then died with silent screams
And there, on Grandfather Mountain,
Where ancient Elders keep the fire,
Eagle keeps his watch,
With golden eyes that never tire
The people dwelt in peace
With their brethren of the wood,
And every lodge did honor,
The land, and it was good
Then there in sweet Watauga
Where the waters flowed so clear,
Bear paused to rise and stand,
When first came the pioneer
Plundered for her gold
By lustful souls of greed,
Father Sky bore silent witness,
As Mother Earth was forced to bleed
The Trail of Tears,
Which forced them
To leave their sacred home,
Spans woven with the bones
Of those who wept,
While Eden groaned
Time has not forgotten
The land but sleeps to heal,
While fools who sit besotted,
Claim that which they did steal
I have ridden many horses
Clutched their manes within my hands,
Felt the call of sweet, sweet spirits,
As they led me cross the land
I’ve seen the face of Wind
As She soared on wings of Hawk,
I’ve heard the Cougar scream,
And thus, the woodland talk
In silent wait for Justice
Mother Earth she sleeps to heal,
While Creator strokes her gently,
And Eagle bears His seal
Father Sky looks ever on
While time, it has it’s way,
For Mother Earth who sleeps to heal,
Shall wake renewed someday
And the people shall return
To the home they lost to greed,
And no more then shall Eden,
Submit to weep and bleed

Deleted Memory
Bring me to your shore
Lighthouse sparing death
Restrain me under law
Take my head and drown me
Delete me from your mind
Silhouetted portrait fading
Remove light closing blind
And dream of how you once where
I decay in this cell created
In the empty grave of mind
Just the bones of someone lost
There is nothing left to find

<center>************</center>
Decaying like a flower
Come hither child
Silence your voice
Taste this bitter apple
Succulent, moist
Hope’s garden wilts
Lies lay stagnant
The decay of soul
Leaves not a fragment
Sew tight together
Your hands in prayer
Your reflection hides
From blackened stare
Falling upon you
The wall you built
Alone you hide
As the flowers wilt
<center>************</center>
So, she wept..
In the darkness she wept
For the loss of her soul
The hatered had killed her
Had loosend her whole
Through the night she slipped
Like an old dirty puddle
Under the stars
Leaving herself
Roaming the land
Ignoring the light
Her body had rotted
And she had nearly forgot
She could never know love
Not now and not ever
As skin turned to bones
And the pale moon rose
So wept the girl
Who had lost her soul.

World of fantasy

Man of evil

Smiling sin
The end is near
I can smell the smoke
For our future
We can only hope

condensating, dripping soul
The darkness condensates
Upon my soul
Leaving traces where
Warmth once touched
A smile on a window
Left by a happy child
Fading and falling
Leaving just tears
And outside
The rain still falls
And the darkness thick
Around lonely trees

**She goes home**
She stumbles and she falls
But she never gets up again
People crowd around her
No one knows here name
Blood seeps from under
And someone’s on the phone
Few minutes pass slowly
To a medic she is shown
On a stretcher she is put
As the crowd stand and stare
Someone asks about her
As if they really care
White tiled walls
And the smell of disinfectant
Nothing is she aware of
They discover she is pregnant
The doctors and then nurses
Try to save the two
But nothing can be done
And both their lives are through
They put the paling corpse
On a steel tray
And leave her in the morgue
And that is where she stays
But her body does not matter
For her soul has got a home
And in the light of light
To God, her final home

Eternal Fairground
Senseless
My thoughts spin
Round and round and back again
A carousel that never stops
Eternally trapped
In the lights of this fairground
Searching for something
Looking not seeing
A circus
Where the clown cries
To the empty audience
Who don’t appluad
A hall of mirrors
Where every reflection
Is reflecting you
And I am the distortion

The Invitation
There’s a place in this world
Where dark is light
And light is dark
A place for strangers
To join together
In this StrangeDarkness
And speak of things
In words that flow
Like a black fountain
That has a voice
That has a song
And thoughts to be heard
I ask of you to come and dance
In this gathering of words
While you sing your song
And tell us your tale
As we slip away
Into the night

**these pages**
Upon these pages I can spill my blood.
Open my heart and release the flood.
All this hate cannot stay bottled.
All this pain. All this sorrow.
Upon these pages I can speak the truth.
No false smiles. I can share my ruth.
I hate myself more than I hate those clowns.
I want to feel alive and not want to drown.
Upon these pages I can be myself.
And tell the world how I hate myself.
Drowning in sorrow I hate this life.
I hate you. I hate them. fuck this life!
Upon these pages I can beg for your help.
Ask for your hand. I do not want this hell.
Please just help me take some of it back.
The part of my life I forget I had.

Inside My Dirty Silence
Inside my
dirty silence
you are nothing
you are present
but
you pass
quickly by
I wish the
clouds float by
and your eyes
press into me
but
you are nothing
and you will
simply
waste away

Second Hand
Second hand pain,
cold-soled
in this weary, lost life
His cheap soul
falls short
of decadent tragedy
Those mean-spirited
laughs trod on my tears
He walked about
in worn boots
of imitation regret
He always failed
to mention
his daily lies
and constant
dreaming heart
You once were
able to look
deep into
his trusting soul
God don't brand those
found in hell

The Venom Of My Sin
I once again, wash away
the deep red lines
that trickles steadily
from your body
There's nobody to forgive
but myself
and I don't give a shit
I have carved my name
into your battered soul
with the venom
of my sin
Yesterday's
writhing constancy
of bitter anger
is draining me
Today,
I am re-charged
with your fear
and weakness
Today, these
medieval snake-like
vines of
concealed poison
run deep within my being
and you are in my way!
My towering hatred
has exploded
in my soul
and you....
YOU will not survive!

The Poet(An Ode)
The poet dreams of sweet born days
nights crystal clear and still
The mourning of desired age
and iron laden will
The poet sees an image bare
Ripe with polished prose
You cannot see ... but it is there
then all at once it goes
The poet cries with angered heart
a pain intense and burning
Empathic life so wild and free
and full of ancient yearning
The poet dies... a wound so deep
but is he really gone?
his words roll by unhindered now
and the dream will e'er live on

Nothing Has Changed
In the blanket
refusal of acceptance, the
visions creep
through my
tortured mind
Your caring smile
cannot realise
the mask
of my tears
I lay broken
beneath a stranger's
ugly fingerprints
I am smothered
in my own pain
I seek to begin
every night's
sleep, late
In the strangest creaks
of the morning, I am
enveloped in a
tenuous peace
I am betrayed
by the
inner messenger
that invades
my dreams
A thousand meanings
coming forth, unrecognized
in the growing cold dawn
My smoldering
lamentations of haunted
failures
and bruised sufferings
melt
into a limbo
of my
harboured
self-rancour
Nothing has changed...
nothing will....

The Bomb (1945)
<center>They've cried the helpless ravaged tears
of blood-stained exhaustion
They've seen the spectre of fleeing millions
receding into the un-uttered death
A procession of ghosts!
Stricken!
Blind!
Crippled!
Broken!
They've cried
of the tragic
human flotsam, falling
stumbling towards
the unknown
They've suffered
the plagues
of infirmites
and mournful ailments
Those myriad
agonizing voices
torn from
heavy hearts,
tortured souls
and images
defying explanation
O! fretful healer!
Hear their plea!
These are
the loved
the blessed
unsalved
of pestilence found!
These are your
beloved
of innocence born!</center>

Pain inside, forever
& always, play reversed
in mind, shyness aching
throughout
smiling faces, stolen glances
dying inwardly
laughing outwardly
purpose..... realised fully

& lies
& truths untold
are greatly
taken within
fully realised purpose
outwardly laughing
inwardly dying
glances stolen
faces smiling

In Those Four Days
In those four days
I reached for you
you held my hand
and smiled at me
In those four days
I heard you laugh
your soft sweet tune
enveloped me
In those four days
we stood astride
equal now
and equal then
In those four days
we battled time
we did not lose
we did not win
In those four days
I loved you so
I pray those days
will come again
Those four days
are with me now
Those four days
will never leave

City
New York knows
my tired face
This odd
Northern language
amidst
foolish, illiterate smiles.
Doorways mugged,
beaten, cajoled....
unmentioned lies,
dreaming hearts
sitting still...
within sad
soft, shy days
repressing mean words,
stolen glances
'neath crimson skies
I embrace
solitude deeply
with outstretched arms
Spoken prayer forming
shall breathe the essence
of lost spirits
(Please note....This poem was written without repeating a single word)

you pass
quickly by
I wish the
clouds float by
and your eyes
press into me
but
you are nothing
and you will
simply
waste away

Second Hand
Second hand pain,
cold-soled
in this weary, lost life
His cheap soul
falls short
of decadent tragedy
Those mean-spirited
laughs trod on my tears
He walked about
in worn boots
of imitation regret
He always failed
to mention
his daily lies
and constant
dreaming heart
You once were
able to look
deep into
his trusting soul
God don't brand those
found in hell

The Venom Of My Sin
I once again, wash away
the deep red lines
that trickles steadily
from your body
There's nobody to forgive
but myself
and I don't give a shit
I have carved my name
into your battered soul
with the venom
of my sin
Yesterday's
writhing constancy
of bitter anger
is draining me
Today,
I am re-charged
with your fear
and weakness
Today, these
medieval snake-like
vines of
concealed poison
run deep within my being
and you are in my way!
My towering hatred
has exploded
in my soul
and you....
YOU will not survive!

The Poet(An Ode)
The poet dreams of sweet born days
nights crystal clear and still
The mourning of desired age
and iron laden will
The poet sees an image bare
Ripe with polished prose
You cannot see ... but it is there
then all at once it goes
The poet cries with angered heart
a pain intense and burning
Empathic life so wild and free
and full of ancient yearning
The poet dies... a wound so deep
but is he really gone?
his words roll by unhindered now
and the dream will e'er live on

Nothing Has Changed
In the blanket
refusal of acceptance, the
visions creep
through my
tortured mind
Your caring smile
cannot realise
the mask
of my tears
I lay broken
beneath a stranger's
ugly fingerprints
I am smothered
in my own pain
I seek to begin
every night's
sleep, late
In the strangest creaks
of the morning, I am
enveloped in a
tenuous peace
I am betrayed
by the
inner messenger
that invades
my dreams
A thousand meanings
coming forth, unrecognized
in the growing cold dawn
My smoldering
lamentations of haunted
failures
and bruised sufferings
melt
into a limbo
of my
harboured
self-rancour
Nothing has changed...
nothing will....

The Bomb (1945)
<center>They've cried the helpless ravaged tears
of blood-stained exhaustion
They've seen the spectre of fleeing millions
receding into the un-uttered death
A procession of ghosts!
Stricken!
Blind!
Crippled!
Broken!
They've cried
of the tragic
human flotsam, falling
stumbling towards
the unknown
They've suffered
the plagues
of infirmites
and mournful ailments
Those myriad
agonizing voices
torn from
heavy hearts,
tortured souls
and images
defying explanation
O! fretful healer!
Hear their plea!
These are
the loved
the blessed
unsalved
of pestilence found!
These are your
beloved
of innocence born!</center>

Inside Pain (A Palindrome)
Pain inside, forever
& always, play reversed
in mind, shyness aching
throughout
smiling faces, stolen glances
dying inwardly
laughing outwardly
purpose..... realised fully
within
taken greatly
are untold truths
& lies
& truths untold
are greatly
taken within
fully realised purpose
outwardly laughing
inwardly dying
glances stolen
faces smiling
throughout aching shyness
mind in reversed play
always and forever
inside pain

In Those Four Days
In those four days
I reached for you
you held my hand
and smiled at me
In those four days
I heard you laugh
your soft sweet tune
enveloped me
In those four days
we stood astride
equal now
and equal then
In those four days
we battled time
we did not lose
we did not win
In those four days
I loved you so
I pray those days
will come again
Those four days
are with me now
Those four days
will never leave

City
New York knows
my tired face
This odd
Northern language
amidst
foolish, illiterate smiles.
Doorways mugged,
beaten, cajoled....
unmentioned lies,
dreaming hearts
sitting still...
within sad
soft, shy days
repressing mean words,
stolen glances
'neath crimson skies
I embrace
solitude deeply
with outstretched arms
Spoken prayer forming
shall breathe the essence
of lost spirits
(Please note....This poem was written without repeating a single word)

but only to feel
the reality of tactility,
grow longer, more idle
like the quieting autumn aura.
We smile without meaning
as we pass muted,
overused phrases.
We have become
only memories of lovers.

timeless

within these cathedrals
of cement and moss
and mahogany,
i come to sense
the age of a day.
sadness is an indefinte spirit,
outliving seasons
and sources
and frames of mind.
and then tasting
the taint of despair,
i wonder how long
i'll bear witness
to the falling of leaves
without your phantom
leaving me.

his lines,
accentuated
by the affections
of tree-strung white lights,
maintain my contours
complacent
at his side.
The moon welcoming windows
are peering enviously
at the way we lay,
closely enfolded
and eye to eye.
I am singing to him softly
and he laughs when my voice cracks
and I know that I could
repeat this scene
every Christmas Eve.

drifting
swiftly
from frame
of thought
to state
of mind,
i find
myself
lingering
somewhere
within
the shadows
of tethered
and stuck
together.
i try
to define
this space
as haze
but it never
dissapates.
