An Englyn.

THE ENGLYN ~ An example of Welsh Poetry. :cool: :mrgreen:

The Englyn is a quatrain that consists of thirty syllables in the form of ten, six, seven and seven syllable lines respectively.
The sixth syllable of the first line introduces the rhyme and the last word of following three lines rhyme with it.

EXAMPLE ;

The look upon your face, your placid smile, (10)
your beauty and your grace (6)
conceal the hurt without trace. (7)
Unburden in my embrace. (7)

Assessment

Assessment

The gold of evening sun, I spent poorly.
Some tasks remain undone.
Others I have not yet begun.
Still, better some done than none!

Nice try Burdick,

If you were to change "many" to "some" in line two and drop the word "yet" from line three it would be a perfect example. :wink:

The second and third lines both contain one syllable to many.

Example;

The gold of evening sun, I spent poorly. (10)
Some tasks remain undone. (6)
Others I have not begun. (7)
Still, better some done than none! (7)

A Question of Faith

Crying your life to me, I hear in awe,
And ask, how can this be?
The joy I clearly see
survives through your misery.

Lost Faith

LOST FAITH

The clouds hop scotched across the graying sky
White pillows quickly lost;
Caught, by a dream-catchers frost
And frozen, to worm-holed cross.
