bringing memories of time gone past

and think of those days

wondering what happened to those years

I smile

to the younger times

what is

exactly that

memories

silhouettes within the shadows

that collection of memories

serenaded in the imagination

contemplated in perception

defined in the moment

scattered in those pages

forgotten in the past

yet somehow those whispers

echo within the calm

unlit caverns

that rise within the stalactites

cool wet floors

some cream white

with minerals

aged within the centuries

of its creation

imperfections made

within the sandstone

refractions

etched in stone

[carndo]

dark canyons

rise within those shadows

that whisper

come explore me

pines that stretch into the light

streams that sparkle into the shallow pools

where occasionally a trout jumps for a grasshopper

rock ledges that rise into the hillside

beaver swimming as they gather branches for their dam

deer taking a sip of water

to quench their thirst

a patch of cactus

just ready to bloom

and the scent of blossoms

among the breeze

where a smile of nature

reveals its beauty

to touch

upon the proverbial

moment

where chaos runs into truth

and is at best

an oxymoron

even though it will never admit it

and why should it?

that memory knows its own vanity

it claims and announces it

loudly and clearly

making sure

that it brings attention

to itself

even though

everyone knows

that its the obnoxious clown

in the room

streaks across the sky

where clouds look like feathers

drawn against the blue

and a faint silhouette

of the moon

that certain time of the year

a reflection of the sun

on an opposite direction

something one doesn't

generally see

perspectives under a different light

in the blackest night

not a single star shines

and yet

within that silence

wisdom shown

finds its place

words have no meaning

without the honor

set before them

let truth set you free

for life had its burdens

but certain paths

revere its way

rhythms made

that touch the soul

within

harmonies in syncopation

touching in simplicity

vocal points in this universe

anchored in amazement

constructive in creation

yet leaving one wondering

what's next?

look around the corner

and see

touch perfection in the making

reach that pentacle

it's within reach

where a sunset

finds what some lost

raging within

a mired philosophy

repercussions

of a shattered past

songs that take one

to places

that some care not to remember

leaving a heart

empty

and lonely

only in the wanting

ghosts that haunt

goodbyes that seem to last forever

romance that never came to be

leaving on wondering

if it only could have been

summer finds that moment

when the warmth returns

leaving behind the rains

where seasons touch

in their coming and going

yet in these horizons

a minute is found in the sun

and one shouldn't dwell on it

or it will eat you alive

making a shell of your former self

so you continue on

and release that pain

focus on what you can

and let the rest go

serenaded

I wish I could write

like Shakespear

by my rhythms sound pale

in comparison

So I'll continue in my own fashion

it might sound trite to some

but everyone is different

and has a different story to tell

sometimes you have to reach deep inside

baring your scars

celebrating that journey you walk

releasing your thoughts

that make a certain completion

grey weather

has set in again

time for spring

and the rainy weather

to go somewhere else

yea I'm looking

for the sunshine

and the warmth to return

too much grey

has prevailed lately

I'm tired of being inside all the time

yea cabin fever

has me by the shirttail

but I'll survive

still I'm waiting

for the sunshine

that series of echoes

where the tone finds

what it's searching for

why?

simply because it can

there's no wrong not right answer

it is what it is

and there lies the conundrum
