the tall grass that falls into East Texas
cactus has just begun to bloom
treetops where the sun has just left
the scent of burnt cedar lingers
jackrabbits twitch in the distance
coyotes howl at the moon
clouds follow into the horizon

Horizons smile into the sunset
where a rainbow has just arrived
that slender glass into life
dancing lights where stars shine
standing rocks glitter within the granite
tall oaks stretch into the sky
sagegrass has just began
cool winds touch into the afternoon
and if you listen
you'll hear the ancestors whisper

[carndo]

dragonflies making their way across the pond
frogs croaking
singing into spring
ducks paddling into the water
blackbirds crying in the cattails
occasionally a bass jumps into the dawn
reflections into the sunset
and the water
finds a way to soothe a heart
as mother nature finds her smile

[carndo]

the river flows into the sunset
where the twilight rests into the horizon
translucent light released
into the universe
reflections mired within the spirit
milestones within that path
symbolic of a simple perspective
far away from a glimpse of that flicker
which shines in the distance
paths which reach where
a serenade is heard

vibrating stars
that strike out
finding the cosmos
reaching out to the universe
passing comets
into those different milkyways
where rogue ventures rise
solitude resigning beyond the abstract
yet in this universe
the silence grows beyond the dawn

those distant mountains
which shine into the past
where ancient people once roamed
the Anasazi
celebrated life as it is
fished the Colorado
and the Dolores rivers
reached those peaks
in the distant sun

[carndo]

reaching those stars
past those horizons
into the heavens
of our immortal universe
constellations that are touched
arranged into the heights
finding answers
in the dark

that hope
which drives that dream
celebrated within
incidents residing
in the miracle
those circles that touch
within the melody
a harmony sung
tune by tune
note by note
rhythms within the symphony
can't you hear it?
the song is meant to be sung

that single cloud
floats into the horizon
past that peak of mountains
rising into the sun
westward
particles of stardust
measured by a reflection
refracted into the afterglow

sad things
rip into my heart
I never understood
why?
but then maybe it wasn't meant to
still it hurts
raw down to the core
yes the rage is there
yes I want to scream
tears fall down
raw on my face
those echoes within that silent time
pain that's simply hollow
whispers within
whispers without
forlorn in the shadows
stepping on the edge
of complete darkness

those waterfalls
that rage past a rainbow
sanctifying those clouds
that hang in a horizon
twilight falls
and a new beginning arrives
that breath which remembers
those eons
shores in the distant past
waving time
for those looking away

those roads that lead into horizons
twilight melodies
within the echoes
memories that call out
within the whispers of time itself
scattered in the pages
of recollection
images of inspiration
fractures of the sun
yet reflections
of things yet to come
glimmering webs
that glisten
within the void

asphalt shadows
that travel within those roads
of destiny
yet in that path
sometimes it isn't clear
but somehow
it seems to work out
although it simply takes time
so one needs a little patience
to reveal
what one needs
perceptions of abstract
inspired by something
that's so simple
yet one
doesn't see it

let the wind sing to me
let me hear her wisdom
that I have yet to learn
here I walk
down those streams
undiscovered
those untangibles
found with an open heart
mystics whisper
those secrets
discoveries yet to be found
and here I soar
within the cloud
to see simply
what I can

those echoes
that bounce
from coves
within certain mountains
and canyons
where on hears the whispers
of the past
yet sees the future
those undertows
within the currents
of time itself
horizons that reach
that rhythm
which sings
to the universe
