FALL FROM GRACE

Post by LadySaturn » Fri Feb 28, 2014 10:46 pm

FALL FROM GRACE

Five in the morning
and the world has yet to wake from slumber.
Heaven help those who live to survive another day.
Those fools on the Hill
have yet to gain an ounce of common sense.
I guess when you try to play God
things do tend to go to Hell.
But then again,
hasn't mankind always been warned.
I guess it's true what they say.
That greed is the root of all evil.
Turning men into sinners if given the chance.
And let's not forget the leader of this nation.
Apparently, he's having delusional thoughts once again.
Who can really blame him though.
He needs some sort of distraction
from the blood on his hands.
You say you feel the people's pain.
That you're fighting for the common man.
Seems more like you're fighting for yourself or those who you truly work for.
Killing the American dream and then lying to our faces.
Man, who do you think you're fooling?
Speeches are nothing more than words.
Empty promises that are never truly fulfilled.
People like me will make sure you'll never forget that.
After all we are the causalities of your foolishness.
So go ahead and try to keep a straight face.
Because even though we may feel the sting
at least we haven't fallen from grace.

... so frustrating all these decisions/nondecisions our government makes.

Enjoyed reading your strong voice once again,

jeanne
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…

I don't tend to countenance dirt foot prophecies or proverbs in the context of today's ambiguous tendency towards self destruction and I disagree that 'greed is the root of all evil". I pass that root cause to "fear" for it is fear that causes 99% of us to commit all the common orthodox 'sins'. Other than that minor splitting of hairs; I certainly agree with the overall sentiment of your piece. Nicely done LS.
