*blush* thanks for the kind words everyone.

The souls that visit this site and share their words are the ones that deserve all the credit for making the Pages what it is.

Michael.. this site was in a directory that you purchased? Now I am curious how it ended up in there!

Hi Berlie, wow, I thought it was just me turmoil, blah, blah, blah. Life is grand, no words come out, what's up with that? Why is it that we can only write when our life sucks eggs? I actually try to write, you know thinking it's a passion, then I found out it was just a way to cry with words so no one would know how much I hated life. Glad I finally found a place to let me put my old self out there.

Hi... Good work with the forums. Everybody here is so great. I wanted to publish my poetry online, but basically, i am very shy to show my poetry to anyone and everyone. But you guys are such friendly and open lot, that i put one of my poems in the forums. I got some great feedback that was really constructive and now my poem looks better than it used to.

I put one of my poems in poetry.com and they said i was a semi-finalist in their contest... sent me very nicely crafted letters and wanted money to publish my poetry online, tape it etc... but when I digged deeper... It was all a scam!! I am so thankful that I did not send them a draft for the book!! But you guys just reviewed the very same poem, and gave suggestions that made it better!!

I love you guy already, and i have been a member for only 4 days!!!!
And as I watch you in this light
I never realized your eyes were full of

You have a really nice open, friendly site here, Berlie. It's always a pleasure to come visit, so I guess that's thanks to all your crew who make it all happen too.

Poetry.Com has, I'm sorry to say, been the bug-bear of writers for a long time. They play on our tender egos, buttering us up with wonderful words of praise as to how great we are and talented blah blah blah... The sad truth of the matter is that they publish NUMEROUS books a year, sometime told me it was over 40 publications) crammed to the gills with poets and non-poets alike, something reaching hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of writers per book. The layout is cramped, small-print, sometimes 8 poems per page! The quality of the product's are poor and each entrant is then sweet-talked with blandishments of 'buy this, buy that... how about a copy for your granny/friends/neighbours/kid's school?' etc... It is unfortunate that, while actually operating within the law, they are making a sweet fortune from all of us who get such a glow from actually being published and praised by letter. The Washington affair is a huge forum, and I personally know many poets who have been invited; and NOT ONLY those who've contributed to their books but people whose names have been gleaned from the net itself! You are expected to pay fares, entrance, this that and the other but you will come away with a 'fantastic' trophy/certificate/glass bowl or whatever that costs x amount of dollars and is fully covered by all you are expected to buy. So that poet whose parents wouldn't allow her to travel there... don't be hard on your parents, my dear fellow writer, they are probably aware of the shockingly mercenary tactics of this company and simply wish to protect you from them. They are even paying 'names' to be present to add strength to their commercial appeal, in an attempt to make themselves even more acceptable to the public. It's purely about money, NOT about talent. I too was 'chosen' as an 'exceptional writer' and all that jazz, but fortunately had heard enough about them not to succumb to the obvious ego-boosting charm of their letters! Poetry.com is just like vanity publishing on a grand scale. Be wary and ask around.

Berlie it is pretty hard to compete with all the compliments which have been posted in here..if it wasn't for Smink I wouldn't have noticed this..
I have enjoyed my stay in here.. at one point I felt like just getting out and off the web..but I'm glad I didn't. I have met some beautiful people in here and found new friends. I've met sad people and those in much pain..and realize how well off I really am.I've read poems that have encouraged me to go on and some to make me laugh..the variety in here is amazing and I love this place.I do thank you dear Berlie for creating such a beautiful home for us to always come to...and I must add thank you for choosing such great administrators and moderators they are wonderful people and I might add they look out for us.
Thanks Smink for posting a reply and bringing this up so I could read all the wonderful comments and come to know a very special lady Berlie.

God bless you Berlie.. I pray God raises you up in strength and might.
