Who runs this place? A little about me.

Post by Berlie » Tue Dec 18, 2001 9:00 am

Hello all. You probably haven't seen much of me before on this site. I am a lurker at heart and I just don't have the time to read much of the forums anymore. Most of my poetry was written a long time ago. I seem to do my writing when times are tough and writing helps me cope with life. Well lately my life hasn't been so tough so I find I don't write as much. I have never been what I would call a serious poet. I write when the mood strikes me and I never follow any type of form. I have only thought of trying to get a poem published once when I saw a magazine looking for poetry submissions, I submitted one and they sent it back saying it was too depressing and to try to write one a little more light hearted. I write to express myself and I really don't care if it is not in proper form or doesn't use big fancy words or rhyming structures.
About me? I am 30, grew up in California, ran away from home when I was 15 and spent a few years homeless. At 17 I was working 100 hours a week and had my own apartment. I moved to Portland, Oregon at 18 and lived there for 9 years. Got married, got divorced, packed up a suitcase and moved to Georgia. I have been here about 3 1/2 years now and I still miss my cat I had to leave behind in Oregon.

I am self employed and build websites for a living ( http://www.jerawebcreations.com ). My first website I built was a very long time ago that was hosted on a free account and was called Voices of Poetry. After I started doing websites for a living I bought this domain and started this website as a hobby.

My homepage is at http://www.berlie.com where you can read my poetry and my so called haiku.

Thank you so much for updating the Poetry Pages. This is the first place I ever posted, and it feels like a "family" to me. I have made many wonderful friends here, and have received immeasurable support both personally and for my poetry. I am home when I am here.

It seems we have something in common. I'm also a runaway, lived in Oregon for a time, and am now making a better life for myself. My writings are as you say yours are, from times of turmoil, and in times of turmoil I write. I used to post here last year, but the kind of thing that happened to Heinzs also happened to me and I deleted everything I had posted. I decided recently to give it another try. I hope things go better but, as a friend once told me, hope for the best but expect the worst.

well, considering i am only 14 and my life is doing well, i suppose i dont write JUST in times of turmoil, i mostly write love poems. i am from mississippi, and i have been published in 2 books, and i was also put on a audio tape or two, though i cant remember how many. lost souls is one of the poems i wrote that was published. it is special to me because it was my first actual poem and it was also my first one to be published and put on audio tapings as well. i was recently offered a trip to washington d.c. to read in front of thousands of people, but my family wouldnt allow me permission to go. i am glad everyone is doing better in life, and i hope everything stays the same, if not, then only changing for the better. i have also posted on poetry.com if anyone would like to read poems there. just try to find shanna kilcrease. hope 2 talk soon everyone

I visited your site, and e-mailed you an invite to visit mine. I also am a "lurker" these days, as it takes me forever to write anything I consider decent, lol?

I would like to add a thanks for creating this site -- it's so great to read all the works, and to get positive and helpful feedback about my own attempts at poetry.
I work for the convention and visitors bureau in Hot Springs, AR, and we just had our web page redone by a Little Rock firm called Aristotle. Check out our site for some great ideas in building web pages(Hot Springs, AR) -- they did an incredible job. I admire people like you who can do such creative things on the net! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

What can be said about the one who sired such a place for poets of all genres to come and share their woes, burdens, emotions, and yes sometimes sick minds. Genius is what can be said. Romulus bows to you(and he bows to no one except his savior).

Hello Berlie, The Family strength and spirit that you have brought together with this medium is truely amazing. I am proud to have touched keys with the likes of all of you. I remember as if it were yesterday, I impulsively purchased a webound directory 75,000 websites. Opened up to poetry and pointed to poetrypages.com. From that day in march till now I have never manually logged back on. The Page's and her Poets have become a permanent attachment to my thought process. Pretty Strange Huh! Hey I Just Love them there people that hang out and use all them there fancy words. I have what I believe is a better understanding of our world on edge, than I would ever get from any other source. I've been able to stay in tune with the young at heart. Witness first hand the brillance of todays youth. The Page's has a pulse. It's a life line, a relay of lifes trials and tribulations, of course there are always the fun and games. The more serious side of it is there are those actually trying to make a name for themselves. Funny thing is I don't think any one from the Page's has to try all that hard. When it is all said and done it will look like it just happened naturally. Heres to Berlie Heinzs and all the Poets who reside at the Page's. Happy Holidays and Thanks for all the Fond Memories / Keep It Precious

Thank you, dear Michael! The pages would not be the pages without such as yourself!
