"LIAR!"

Post by cglabb » Thu Dec 05, 2002 9:18 pm

"LIAR!"

The smile and firm
handshake
allowed me passage through
many doors

Job to job to job,
always promising a better
life

Smiles for the laughing barfly's,
gently touching, red-blonde-auburn
hair
Nursing them with well timed humor
when nothing was funny

I've caressed the beauty of women and positions of profit
and spoke the willingness to raise
children,
the bottom line,
aspirations

The alienated have my home phone
but I can't answer
without credibility

We were in an orchard
picking pears and apples
and
my son called me "LIAR!!!"

I usually scream at
insolence
but the tree's could see
me smile
and it felt good to know,
always knowing-
he's wiser than me
already

Mystery Lost

Post by cglabb » Thu Dec 05, 2002 10:00 pm

Mystery Lost

We'd smiled at each other
coming and going for a couple
years

Never shared a drink, coffee,
a conversation

I picked up a factory job
to make ends
meet,
she soon
followed

The first day we worked together,
"Shit!"
I'd spilled something hot
on myself

"I didn't think you would talk
like that," she said

"SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!"
That was my ingenious reply

We never made eye contact,
again

Alaska...

Post by cglabb » Wed Dec 11, 2002 9:32 pm

Alaska...

I have blown my nose to the
morning,
through my kitchen window

It rises, this big ball of energy-
Why couldn't I take winter in
Alaska
and the summers in a cool cave
in the woods

It asks too much, demon light,
forcing you out to the scrambling
of a zillion feet
and smiles and nod's
and family
and questions-
"How's your work going?"

If the sun came 'round
every fifteen days
I'd be fine

OK, every seven days-
AHH, shit!
Just let me sleep a while
longer!

Unexpected Perfect Day

Post by cglabb » Sun Dec 15, 2002 9:02 pm

Unexpected Perfect Day

The precision of the perfect day
cannot be co-ordinated or
expected
ahead of time

Shopping and standing in line
with
the hair-flip thing going on
in the full view of shoppers
when I'm useless to
react

SH--, woman!
Do you want a puddle of
proto-plasm at your feet
Don't you know this time of
year
is when we fight and squabble
MOST!

At a quick franchise pub dinner, you move onto
the flirtatious smile
and open laugh
that I haven't seen in six months
and you do these things,
these noticeable things
and I wonder;
Where have we been?
What have we seen?
What the f*** happened to
the boredom that was
our drill,
day in and out
to the point of maddening
silence

I hold your hand
as we drive home,
running my thumb over those
nails
done by some ethnicity
I'm not privy to
and cannot believe
I've known you for as many
years

A woman
who knows me well enough to
reprimand
my faults
and let my faults
allow me
to be
me

Yeah, life
is fully
inaccurate
when Cosmo Polls
and Psycho babble probabilities
are drawn to dust
as the perfect day
has come to
fruition

Friday Night

Friday Night

Hands thrown up.....................
......Chin touches chest............
...........Soaking in a pool of air.
A 32" window in motion..............
......A liquid barrage..............
...........Intended distraction.....

Hansel & Gretel

Post by cglabb » Sun Dec 22, 2002 10:55 pm

Hansel & Gretel

We picked up her son and she was
3-sheets gone at six pm

Trick or Treating tonight
with my boy and he

Cruised our neighborhood
with the cam-corder
just to get everyone's face
on file
for the pedophile trial

The two of them together, my son
and my nephew,
runnining like asylum children
and the road wearing their costumes
as they bite it coming from
each house

Unbridaled
youth

We had to appreciate
the energy stored
in such a small package
A bullet has less
velocity

We drove her son home
to the comment of;
"We need to talk more,
C'mon and talk to me,"
my crack-sister said

I slammed the door shut
and quickly made way to the
car
remembering what happened
to Hansel & Gretel

Destiny

Post by cglabb » Sat Jan 04, 2003 7:16 pm

Destiny

My name is Josh
but
I have a lot in common
with that famous fisherman

I drive a Saturn and hope to catch that big fish...uh, mammal
at the shore

The water is too cold
and deep
and to venture by boat
would mean my demise

I do write about the
anticipation though

I check the shoreline
with my binoculars
in my free time
hoping the big fi..., mammal
will come to me and help my
writing to be complete

My availability
is changing
to Mondays and Thursdays,
so watchout big fi.., mam..,
guy-

Because I'm destined
to
bring you in

The Rising Son

Post by cglabb » Sat Jan 04, 2003 8:33 pm

The Rising Son

Not a day goes by
I don't think about
God

What it must be like
to have a son
and to banish all thoughts of
possible failure;

The social impacts
The environment
The temptations
that surround a soul

I wonder if the missing book
has verses
identifying his failures
as well as his rise

For no man was
as blessed
as he

There had to be small slips
of time
when Dad was doing the dishes
or
when Dad's day ran long
or
when Dad had no one to turn to-

Because he was Dad
and all newspapers and talk shows related to
Mom
and not day-in day-out dad

Sleep the Sleep....

Post by cglabb » Wed Jan 22, 2003 9:08 pm

Sleep the Sleep....

I wrote a pile last night,
read some more
and drank some more

I wake up an hour after
she goes
to work
and get my kid to school

These days I want to
hide behind the couch
and sleep

I sleep the sleep of the
debtor,
waiting for the knock on the door
I sleep the sleep of the
military man,
waiting for the knock on the door
I sleep the sleep of the
angels,
knowing they're dead but etheral

I can't handle many more
days like this
and the laundry is piling up

She says, "You're a poet, so write,"
I smile at her naive
resolution

The words still come;
stacked on dirty clothes,
stacked on dirty dishes,
stacked on the overwhelming feeling
that a bomb is ready to
go off
somewhere,
as I move
my
writing
to
the basement

Keep Moving

Post by cglabb » Wed Feb 26, 2003 6:55 pm

Keep Moving

Baggy eyes, full gut
and the want,
the want of being a
child again-
Tickle fights and dreams of
new friends
and dreams of nothing

You can't go back,
it is unleashed and unbound,
this irreconcilable
Clock-
No Friend,
without remorse for
being
no friend

Accumulate what is in the path,
aquire what is new,
catch up on the present
and be
fulfilled

Nothing to argue
if you keep moving
forward

Commercial Arguments

Post by cglabb » Sat Mar 01, 2003 9:07 pm

Commercial Arguments

How much spite and verbiage
can you squeeze into
2 minutes

Words and thoughts
off your brain,
shoulders, chest-
repressed anger into
a small amount
of time

The game, maternity show or
reality crap-tacular
is back
shortly

Heaving chests
and panting
breath
waiting
for the next
break-
the
commercial argument

No Control

Post by cglabb » Sat Mar 15, 2003 7:42 pm

No Control

The Bonsai tree will
not
sprout

The watering and
plastic bag
greenhouse
are futile

The warm sun and attention
have not been productive
They are deaf
to reason,
patience is wearing

The bottle of forced growth
hovers above those tiny seeds,
threatening to make them
what they should be
They can't see the one
to twelve drops
ready to splash
on them

I hope they get
my intention

Washes Off Easier Than Blood

Post by cglabb » Tue Apr 15, 2003 8:31 pm

Washes Off Easier Than Blood

Finger brushed her sleeping head,
long hair dripping over my legs
like water-

as water spills into
thirsty mouths

as blood soaks the
needy sand

The war is in the background,
focus is hard-

real life,
our life,
their life

The mind weeps
but stays strong for
focused souls
trained on
soulless perfection

They, them, our suited men
commanding CNN, MSN,
safely improvise
and stand tall-

shooting words
of weight, righteousness
and truth

Words wash off
easier than
blood

Awaiting The Big Picture

Post by cglabb » Sat Jul 26, 2003 2:12 am

Awaiting The Big Picture

The sex could've been
phoned in
the last two months

The kid's were on
auto-pilot summer

Feelings and arrangements
are for the futile minded

There is something to be said
about the way children
and parents remain
seperated
in their resiliance-

awaiting the
big picture

Like a friend you've
never met,
like talking
to other poets
and taking a chance
on life

Laughable,
how some things change
as you watch
in dismay-

where you were going,
what picture of life
held in your prior brain

My childish heart
has come full circle
and met me with
blue eyes-

"Don't forget,
your father was
a hypocrite and
that's how he survived"

Much has come 'round
knowing I can still
f*** up
the
big picture
