Part One:

OH SUSANNE
Triolet

Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty
With her hazel eyes and auburn hair,
All fell for Suzanne, it was a duty,
Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty
The lads thought there none as fruity
As Susanne, never was there one so fair.
Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty
With her hazel eyes and auburn hair.

TERZA RIMA SONNET

Her heavenly face, welcomes me
Trembling, falling as I always do,
tasting her kisses, given readily.

Aching we sway, on wings that flew
Clothes falling like leaves, fluttering down,
Two hearts convulsing, loving you.

Exploring her beauty, again newly found
uniting our passions, as only lovers share,
Lost in each other, without a sound.

Caressing silently through her auburn hair
our pleasure fulfilled, in contented bliss,
then nestling my sweetheart flushed and fair.

The thoughts of each heavenly kiss,
two lovers united in perfect bliss.

MY ONLY LOVE

Meet me where the soft grass still grows
By that crystal clear stream, its water still flows,
Near that tree, our carved names still clear,
Of distant memories treasured, once left here.
Find the meadow by that woodland glade
near those hidden paths, still obscured laid.
Descending the slope gently, winding now
where once two lovers made a vow.
Like two spirits united for a moment in time
whose ties still unbroken, in life’s essence entwine.
Then the quickening as we parted each letting go,
the grief that still haunts beguiling life’s flow.
Cherished by solitude, and by vanity and pride,
Perished with my yesterdays, foolishly cast aside.
Remembered kisses as we parted with tears,
Dying like embers leaving regrets and fears.
Decisions quickly made before life’s journey begun
leaving memories of beauty, only just won.
Fleeting voices softened like shadows as they stream
like footsteps in time, leaving only echoes and dreams.

JESUS

A long time ago, in a land far away
The Angels came down their vision to lay,
”for you Mary, now bidden by God
In the fields with the lonely and poor he trod”.
Shepard’s and wise men will find where you lay
In a stable now guarded by a heavenly ray.
So all may see him, for thirty summers or more,
with scriptures not yet written, his prophecy will store.
Bring fourth the one I’ve chosen, to steel every heart
of the dreamers who hunger, by his message impart.
Through all life’s mysteries, that flow in his words,
in the lands of the mighty, to the meekest be heard.
Now from this village, a golden seed I will plant
to encircle each memory, to hold and enchant.
So bring fourth the baby, that all my children will see,
in the heart of this prophet, born to set us all free.
With words yet unspoken, will guide us before,
in his footsteps walk his children, forever to store.
Then lead to Gethsemane to kneel and pray
all in white to be broken, and die were he lay.
Then rise as the eagle gliding radiantly,
with the laurels I’ve given, resting forever by me.

ANGELS
[for R]

Tis-midnight, through dreams mystic flow
Beneath a bright and lovely moon.
Drowsily by that clear dark sky
this slumber which always seems to try
to take me home to soon.

And deep I go into the night
Resisting mornings dawn.
In my chamber, I slumber by the wall
shadow's rising, lifting, then gently fall
in these lovely dreams reborn.

And fitfuly the shadow's fill my head
Then she smiles a smile for me.
And I reach again to meet her embrace,
The skies open now, but I must wait God's grace
Then two Angels will fly high and free.

EARTH SEASONS

Waking In our good earth every day that I
as the seasons pass, in my thoughts I try,
to live without vanity or pride.
waching each season as its gently cast aside.
Treasure its beauty, as a poet’s rhyme,
of each seasons change, restless yet sublime.
Long summer hours, softened every scene
the dew of cypress, field’s replenished green.
And lingering flowers, swaying gently there
slowly passing on to autumns golden air.
Acquainted brown painted leaves gently shake,
as nature ever smiling, and beguiling make.
Delivered autumn, now quickly fades
to winters dying daylight feigned, frosted laid.
Faded memories, affecting greets the snow
blighted remembrance, loveliness' then quickly go.
Family sits around crackling fires warming voice,
with friends gathered good spirits drink rejoice.
Springs coming circle, returns beneath the poets voice.
Rejoice.

Sonnet [the guard]

Thou art my brave gallant's all
March boldly, with sword-hilts tread.
Arise and hear the bugle’s call,
Honoured hearts, this day are led.

Fly thy Eagles one last time
Unfurl thy colours and gently sway,
Footsteps, getting louder in perfect line,
As the very earth doth shudder in their way.

Through the mist they came majestically as one
As they pass the soldiers on either side,
Then watched enthralled, all eyes resting upon
This one last time, the grandeur of the guard.

And the echoing of those autumn fields
To the dying of the summer as it yields.

The last time

Leaving the hospital we kissed. Then returning
later we were led into a small side room were
they were struggling to insert the long tube into
her main vein. “I smiled uneasily, she having been
given diazepam, continually repeated our names and
relived childhood memories”. The doctor said she was
Sorry it had taken so long but mother had fought them.
"I apologised stupidly, for what I did not know.”
She would be fine now I told her, all the woman in
the ward had been through this. I smiled again
embarrassed by seeing my mother for the first time
not in control, her head moving from side to side,
awake, but only to the past. I told her again everything
would be fine, she would be on the machine
in a few hours and I would return later.

I did not kiss her this time on leaving.
I did not know if she had heard my words.
I did not know this was the last time.

SONG

I'll plant you a rose in your garden
and tend the new buds as they rise,
I'll bring them to you, all life will renew
and I'll meet you in heavens sunrise.

And I'll bring you a flower every day
I'll bring you a flower every day.
I'll love you until, the last day I fill
and I'll bring you a flower every day.

I'll plant you a rose in your garden
and tend the new buds as they rise,
I'll bring them to you, all life will renew
and I'll meet you in heavens sunrise.

I'll bring them to you, all life will renew
and I'll meet you in heavens sunrise.

REMEMBER

A band of noble gentlemen
came down to meet the foe,
alas the pleasures of the sea
turned to sorrow by that shore.
Broken hearts those vessels bore.

In the silent stillness of this throng
as the sea turned pink, its colours shown,
descending now deeply they sank
with banners, flags, glorious they fell
plunged boldly to there last farewell.

The fates their destinies would decide
that on this day there age was made,
as they rode the oceans shivering waves
and perished for our freedom made.

With banners, flags, glorious they fell
plunged boldly to their last farewell.

Great Future
[Roundelay]

Have you heard the news today
Global warming is here to stay.
It’s really only a matter of time
but present company will be fine.

The politicians have given word
It’s not affecting our present herds.
Dumped waste, increasing all the time,
But present company will be fine.

The ice flow is set to bust,
sinking fast now, dust to dust.
Antarctica, is past its prime,
but present company will be fine.

The seas are safe, we are told
Full of fish returning to the fold.
Oil spills spreading with the slime,
but present company will be fine.

The cholesterol count I must relate
could lead you to a hapless fate.
Layers of fat, while still in our prime,
But present company will be fine.

The cars the star the adverts say
Combustion worries are far away.
Pollution rising all the time,
But present company will be fine.

Lets get back to wood; it’s not too late
Away with plastic, it’s out of date.
The rainforest receding line by line,
but present company will be fine.

Thinking ahead is such a strain
Responsibility is boring and a pain.
Our children’s, children will call it a crime,
But present company will be fine.

Our earth’s beauty we really must repair,
The fun we’ve had, the years we share,
The ozone layer increasing all the time
But present company will be fine.?

Echoes

Walking again where the clear pure water flows
by that stream, still crystal clear and rushing by,
where the shadowlands meet, and forever goes
through each memory, beneath this florescent sky.
And did the fates whose mysteries once unfold
Enchanted by her presence a pathway set aside,
Those echoes still find me on this lonely road
In a perfect garden as the moonlight slowly dies.
And did the swaying cypress; by the oak
Call out her name standing silent there,
among such beauty with each word she spoke
once murmured by the Angles, who came for her.
And did they hear a poor mans heart cry with pain
As the mighty eagle in the nights shadows flies,
And would these fleeting moments still remain
Locked in my memory, safe and unopened lies.
The water is silent now by the lake
As the dew drips green, sad yet serene,
The grey trees melancholy shrouded as they shake,
Life’s mysteries hidden as I walk Eden’s evergreen.

And the forest ancient, his secrets obscuring the sky
I’ll meet you darling as the sunset’s by-and-by.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
Revised

Take me then, and spike me well
Pass on your cruelty, flay and bind.
I made my covenant before I fell
and by my blood and pain will bind.
I must not die before I wake
for I know Father, you are the only one,
and through my misery for their sake,
will find salvation when I am gone.
And when it’s done, let my soul fly
above this earth for all to take,
and by your hand the love that I
Pass on to you for glories sake.
And did the Lamb once follow thee
beneath the cypress and the oak,
high mountains bow in fealty
to hear the words the Shepherd spoke.
All who thirst and hunger I will bring
for your glory Father, to unfold,
Pity me in my agony, and suffering,
With these laws of life, I pass on to hold.
So pray for me and hear my cries
for as a man I bleed for thee,
when my test is done, let my spirit fly,
to wait for you in eternity.
The shadows come to take me now
though I may not pass this way before,
my sufferings done, and now I bow
to be remembered with you for evermore.

HYMN

you are the one

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
you are the light, that guards our way,
in our darkest night your light shines through
You are our strength guiding us through.

The road we walk is long and wide
the pathway stony, on every side.
As we stumble on unsteady legs and fall
to you we reach father, through it all.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
you are the light that guards our way.
In our darkest night your light shines through
you are our strength, guiding us through.

Though filled with doubts please lead us Lord
by thy gentle countenance again restored.
In times of need, again we pray
your strong arms open, to guide our way.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
you are the light that guards our way.
In our darkest night your light shines through
you are our strength, guiding us through.

Life's daily hazards, along the way
for those who stumble, fall and stray.
In our darkest dreams lost and forlorn,
Heavens pathway clears with thee reborn.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
you are the light that guards our way.
In our darkest night your light shines through
you are our strength, guiding us through.

SPRING PRAYER

As dawn's twilight quickly dims winters fire
the earth seams to weep, struggling to aspire.
The ritual renewing, streams of crystalline light,
like an anthem, unwrapped yearly flickering bright.
The frosted snows now fade, extinguish between,
the fresh dawn's dew, grass crisp replenished green.
Daybreak shows its breezy new leaves there,
with the warmth of spring's new season’s air.
Father for you who made the sea and shore,
we give thanks for one more season to explore.

ETERNITY

It lives in dawn's first ray of light
and in a new born baby's cry,
it lives in the beauty of each night
and the love in a father’s eye.

In the earth and in the sky it lives
among the hunger and the pain,
in the warmth of a mother's arms it lives
where rich or poor are all the same.

It lives in a church's smallest space
or wherever we bend our knee,
it lives in everyone whatever creed or race
bound together in eternity.

So dream of it and let it fill your heart
and never let it go.
And take it with you through your life
and eternally you will know.

This poem is dedicated to Olga Banareo. Who leaving her child in safety, was sent to Ravensbruck, the woman’s Death camp in 1941-2 She was murdered there in 1942, Olga spent her time helping others and was often punished for it, but her spirit was never broken and her humanity will never die.

STRONG I AM

Child crying, not understanding why
left behind within safe walls of home.
She gently lifts spirits of lost souls,
bringing life back to them for one more day,
to the sisters of Ravensbruck.

Though cruel men, who have cast God aside,
and made her cry, yet cannot break,
or for a moment take, her humanity,
shines within dark walls of Ravensbruck.

Though terrified and broken, she would
not give way to terror. And her memory
will not dim, it lives today as it did then,
and remains with the sisters of Ravensbruck.

“Selected”. Buses waiting, God taking her to him,
Head held high, she never bowed to them.
No tears to shed. Consoling others whom she always led
to live another day in Ravensbruck.

TAKE ME HOME

Fill me with love
down deep in my heart,
leaving my memories to follow.
Nothing left to remind
Lay my sadness behind
taking me home again.
Leaving this place
Never to return,
waiting to find my tomorrow.
Thoughts reminding me then
of my youth way back when
taking me home again.
So holding my hand
and never letting go,
Leaving my trouble and sorrow.
Though the road may be long
my strength coming from
you taking me home again.

LOVES SONNET

Like a perfect rainbow
Or a full moons distant glow,
In the hearts of all who’ve loved
where the dreamers often go.

To see a new dawn rising
Or the setting of the sun,
Through the words of the chosen
Reliving life’s memories everyone.

And to all who’ve never found love
Though still seeking day by day.
In the joy of that first uniting
Fate guiding us along the way.

Silent steps along life’s highway
Knowing love always finds a way.

Alone

I awake to those distant dreams of you,
and seam to see your spirit by my bed.
A sparrow by my window flew
leaving only fragments as it swiftly fled.
In the mornings as the dim light streams
lost in those fragments of my dreams.
For never was there one so fair,
those hazel eyes still entrance me now.
these silent thought’s I cannot share
till the darkness descends and will allow.
As the evenings darkness once more enclose
waiting eagerly, as each new dream flows.
Now I fill this cup, with love it Brims,
and until the earth and heaven are one.
I cannot sup the joy it brings
for in each nights Darkness, I now belong.
Darkness comes and there is nothing more
as I Dream on alone for evermore.

LAST TIME

Whatever life now brings my way
Regrets resurfaced, every night,
my dreams beneath loves ashes lay,
amid the shadows that fade with the light.
I seem again to hear my memories say,
through the quiet slumber, her eyes so bright
Her beauty is still forever guiding my way.

Lonesome years, echoes through my mind
Unveiling youths choices, once cast aside,
Surpassing beauty, never more to find
Life’s wisdom, then too late applied.
This solitude, like a curtain tightly binds
like a mighty eagle in majesty resides,
in his mountain, with my yesterdays left behind.

Now those long forgotten memories seem
to once more show her golden flowing hair.
Which entwines my heart, that’s always been,
in the love, I once eagerly gave to her.
Now as the setting sun, its lovely shadows lean,
by my window, as I again remember one so fair,

then the twilight descends, leaving only dreams.

Rid yourself of those tears, fears, and pain;

I'll wait until your ready to advise

And all I'll ask is just a hug

My Prayer

Father though I’ve walked where poor men go
Encumbered by my vanity and my pride,
Release my selfish spirit that it may again flow,
into the path that leads forever to your side.
Oh Father I will always love thee and adore
Walking in your grace, throughout life’s great quest.
Each day seeking the eternity, where all spirits sour
through life’s struggles, in your strong arms rest.
Oh Father as I fall withered hurt, and torn
Casting aside my sin's, replenished now before,
Keeping always your council, awakened and reborn
Bringing my poor soul, at last to heavens door.

Oh Father who is greater than thee
Wide the door open still to your Eternity.

On An English Summers Day

Down among the daffodils
by that river bend,
as the flowing waters fill
our love would never end.

Walking in the cool night air
On an English summers day,
the dreams that only lovers share
Seems like only yesterday.

When we were young and free
No worries to tie us down,
the plans we made so joylessly
saving for your wedding gown.

As the sun that day was burning
I gave my heart to you,
and always I’ll be returning
the way that lovers do.

I kissed you under the oak tree
by the cypress and the elm.
That day you gave your love to me
Lost forever in this realm.

Though dreams are only dreams
some are never meant to be,
we were too young it seams
yet still they rest so tenderly.

I left you in a lovers tiff
with my pride so foolishly
Darling I let you leave like this
some dreams are never meant to be.

The days turned into years
the way they always do,
Left lonely with my fears
And those memories of you.

As I slip into my dreams again
now the shadows begin to call
left only to remember then
the darkness begins to fall.

Walking in the cool night air
On an English summers day,
the dreams that only lovers share
Seems like only yesterday.

PRAYER

Remembering again that mystery, which binds me still
though reversed plummeting of our spirits now.
Entranced always by life’s vista, powerless will,
as moonlight once more returns, to you only bow.
Those happy days, amid the splendour of youth
Unconscious visions, then sorrowfully cast aside.
Regaining scruples once turned from your truth
Life’s journey tempted, each burden forever hide.
Leaves crisper now, while grass replenished sweet
Hearts serene palpitating beneath each moonlight's air.
Appealing once more for mercy always given there
for who is greater than thee, through time shall meet
Profoundest thoughts, though my melancholy never would
Dissever this poor soul, to Heavens door finely understood

Kyrielle Sonnet
As you know the Sonnet is a 14-line poem, and the natural tendency for French forms to link in some way. It also means that if we take a three stanza Kyrielle and add the first line (The link) A. to the refrain we have another French Sonnet using whatever rhyme pattern you chose the final stanza is the link and the refrain A. B..

Kyrielle: Sonnet

Dreams are needed every single day,
Life’s essence never fails, come what may
Between our vanity and our pride
Then lay awake, to find true solace inside.

Then find between those slices of death
No fear as we glide thankfully to rest,
And through Gods grace, we’ll all abide
Then lay awake, to find true solace inside.

When the work is done and twilight descends
Find obscured, curled warm with our friends
And peacefully with our spirits deep we hide
Then lay awake, to find true solace inside.

Dreams are needed every single day
Then lay awake, to find true solace inside.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Another Kyrielle: is a French form of rhyming written in
Quatrains [a stanza consisting of 4 lines] Each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a Refrain, [usually the last] The amount of stanzas is no limit but three being the Excepted minimum.
Many different rhyme patterns may be used abaB, CbcB, dbdB ex

I have wrote a simple three verse stanza repeating the Last line on each stanza.

NIGHT DREAMS

Some nights I take my mind in flight
Sometimes I struggle against the light,
the patterns clear within my dreams
Floating in those monumental scenes.

The daylight never comes to soon
against those shadows round my room
and in these isles, lost spirits I’ve seen
Floating in those monumental scenes.

Dark nights bring silence from the crowd
Laid wrapped around me like a shroud,
and find the peace again to dream
Floating in those monumental scenes.

Never mind the cruel night
never mind that burning light,
when you pledged your heart to me
your spirit lifts my solitary.

Never mind those endless days
never mind were boredom lays,

My soul cries out, my heart just breaks.

LAST NIGHT

On this starry night
I see a bridge across the sky,
A walkway to oblivion
Where only the brave will lie.

On this starry night
Sitting silent and alone,
As the twilight slowly fades
Is it time to come home?

On this starry night
As the shadows pass me by,
Walking slowly to my window
I see a bridge across the sky.

Part Two:

DAWN
The horizon shimmers with a dim reddish glow
while in my slumber I drowsily struggle to and fro.
Eyes slowly lifting to meet this haunting scene
the earth seems to wake, as from a dream.
The red now mixes with yellow, and fluorescent green,
with midnight blue, which fields a unison between,
those shadows that still drift past my window below.
A rainbow appears, with a circle that brings in the dawn,
slowly almost breathlessly, watching the coming morn.
By my window the far hill line, with its inspiring sight,
as the darkness recedes, beneath the rising light.
Eyes flicker now, as the colours turn grey and blue,
by my chamber window, watching the earth renew…
Through the corridors of time, nature whispers hello….

to fly us high on eagle's wings,

And then at last on calmer wings
to sleep awhile, I kiss your brow.
And while our innocence faded now
no thought of what the future brings.

FLOWERS

I’ve never seen flowers, whose colours so bright
or the sweet scented grass, ever replenishing,
that would ever compare to the sight
of the symmetry of the chrysanthemum.
And each flower renewing breezily to and fro,
by the glade, streams, and crystal waters grow.

Now Sleeping beneath the scented earth
by yonder hill, gently waking from below,
as the seasons change, all life giving birth
among woodland, fields and valleys flow.
To rise again revealing as there beauty brings
New buds eternal, with each new life sings.

The thirsty ground, again replenished now
by the rivers, and quiet vales and hills,
Sparkling were the crystal waters daily allow,
Flowers swaying, there never-ending cup refills.
Given free to every kinsman to explore
Life’s journey renews and continues for evermore.

EPISTLE
TO MR BURNS

His countries pride, none would betray
the ploughman's son, the rest may say,
though fame will never come his way
but time will tell.
Those songs new and as fresh today
lift hearts and swell.

And words that fly on fortunes winds
To carry forth and his wisdom brings,
those words then fall from eagle's wings.
The bard has flown.
Laid songs for peasants and for kings,
He stands alone.

And if the poet in his truth sublime
to those who would criticize his rhyme,
for the path he took though straight the line
Where poor men go.
Will live and stand the test of time
Let his beauty flow.

And the red rose will always be
to the soul, the finest balm for me.
And nevermore the like will see.
Of Scotland’s pride.
Will live in history and forever be.
The noble Bard.

The moon was never brighter
Than the night I last saw you,
Around the fields that still echo
The joy we both once knew.

The earth was never greener
While each sunset reminds me of you,
Your hazel eyes and auburn hair
Have haunted my whole life through.

Though that was long ago my love
Locked in the windmills of my mind,
Kept for the time of remembering
With those shadows we left behind.

the love that forever binds
The windmills of my mind.

First Time

My love who fills my heart and sings
to fly us high on eagle's wings,
among the leaves, as they shake,
by that deep and clear blue lake.
And shake the very earth and sky
with thunder, as we unit and fly.
And then at last on calmer wings
to sleep awhile, I kiss your brow.
And while our innocence faded now
no thought of what the future brings.

Broken hearts

beneath my sadness and heartfelt woe
Let life’s footsteps take me to the place,
Where only those who’ve loved may go.
Fleeting are the memories of her sweet face.

The paths we walk, stumble and stray
The dreams we dream, now lost and gone,
In the lands were only lovers stay
leaving only those memories to rest upon.

I seam to hear her sweet voice once more
In my dreams were those fragments reside,
Passing like phantoms, that still dwell before
echoes briefly held, as you are again by my side.

Waking slowly now, silently as I steal away
Knowing I will never see her again,
the beauty that once passed my way,
with each dawn only broken hearts now lay.

THE HIGHWAYMAN

Being the sad tale of Jim Larkin

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
Robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

It happened on a rainy night
a single rider, strong and bold.
The highwayman rode out of sight
For in Death his fate be told.

The robbery planned, had gone astray
and a gunshot made a parting,
now the hangman waits in dismay
to end the life of one Jim Larkin.

For Jim it was to all that knew
a gentleman rider until then,
who robbed the rich swiftly he flew?
Into the hands of the gallows men.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

A merry dance Jim lead them all
for these four-year, he rode and well,
around old London’s by-ways the call
as night descends what tales we'll tell.

No goal could hold him, not a one
for none were as bold and brave as he,
And bess, would wait far from the throng
Then carry Jim, once more to flee.

The children rhymed a song for him
with his trusty steed, a great white mare,
the bonny horse that carried Jim
for none could catch the pair.

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
Robbed the rich, to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

Now guilt did haunt him and he knew
For noble in his own way was he,
The time for parting for those that do
The penance that sets all men free.

They found him in a grove of trees
He waited so that all would know,
For Jim, his spirit broken did grieve
“Sir take me, and my gallows show”.

The goal house was dirty and cold
He gave an audience to one and all
the best in food and wine they sold
For Jim, waiting for his Death to call.

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
Robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

He ordered a suit of silk and lace
Ruby red, scarlet and white cockade,
Black leather boots, and a powdered face
and a bonny hat for Jim they made.

All London came to meet and stare
Jim asked forgiveness for his sin,
for one now lost but knowing where
the thirteen steps awaited him.

Standing tall on his scaffold high
a gentleman to the last for them,
one last look up to the sky
then to his maker goes the highwayman.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
they robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

"Sir leave a shilling for the ferryman"
I’ve paid my dues to one and all,
Forgive my sins, and the course I ran
Then I bow my head and take my fall.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
they robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

DREAMLAND
version two

In the land of the pharaohs
where symmetry knows no home,
where logic is nonsense
and ghostly knights still roam.

In caverns deep and wide I fly
and wonder fills my heart.
Of monumental scenes that flow
and tear my soul apart.

Deep I go into the night
resisting morning’s dawn,
and deeper still I fight the light
in lovely dreams reborn.

I wonder if God above
made for us this domain,
to help us cope, through his love
nightly to escape our pain.

And as the dawn brings me awake,
only fragments now remain,
of that other life in which we take,
the relief that keeps us sane.

[And in this land of dreams each bring a sigh]
[As nightly we pass the wanderers by]

In dreams I take my mind in flight
of monumental scenes,
on eagle’s wings I fly each night
and stand astride great scenes.

And deep I go into the night

in lovely dreams reborn.

I wonder if God above

Pray for me for the shadows now have come
Leading me to Gods glorious light which folds
Around me, held tightly in your open arms
My Soul, Oh Father that was forever yours to hold
And by thy promised Eternity shall find in your grace

My Fair Lady

I awake amid fragrant thoughts of you
and through the still beauty of the night,
as dawn's dim rays again renew
glimpsing the fading stars still shining bright.

And waking my wits not yet knowing whom,
I seem to see you by my bed.
And left me now with the winds that blew
through my chamber-window fled.

And in the twilight my Lady Fair
beneath the lifting shadows that bore,
honoured heart, her beauty so rare,
with Gods grace I now implore.

So fill this cup, with love it brims
Spectre know my vigil will ever be,
through the silken veil each morning brings
till fate returns my Lady Fair to me.

LOVES TWILIGHT

The moon is full, and cools the air
summers heat fades, at Twilight time.
Those dreams and plans we used to share
two lovers united briefly, two hearts entwine.
Now just silent steps, echoing my lonely years
walking with life's lonely shadows, regrets and fears.
Still in my dreams her golden flowing hair falls in
my arms, that once held her so tenderly,
Her sweet smile beguiling as it did then
with her auburn hair falling for only me.
Those hazel eyes still enshrine my heart.
When our world was young, nevermore to part.
Cursing my vanity and pride, as I again walk there
beneath that cypress, and the oak,
as I seam to see your footsteps everywhere,
remembering again those words we spoke.
Regrets like morning dew, falling with each new morn,
with all my yesterdays, wilted and forlorn.
One last glance, where happiness once was mine
as I gently fall again into loves evening twilight time.

Pass on by

I’m a broken hearted spirit
From a broken hearted body,
And broken hearts never find their way.
If you see me on the platform
In the visions of your memory
Just pass on by, and quickly move away.

Did you love me in the morning?
On through to the long days twilight,
In the silence, were only lovers stay.
In the garden of life’s echoes,
Faded, hidden like the snow flakes
Resting were only the lonely lay.

As the shadows gently lengthen
Walking to your bedroom window,
The village lamps flickering to guide your way.
Is your face worn with years and sorrow?
Remembering the one who loved you
A moment in time that passed our way.

And for a moment did you smile
As you stand by your window,
Thinking of the oak tree where we lay.
Remembering the one who loved you,
Then waiting for the crisp air morning
To start just another day.

I’m standing by my window
Thinking of the only girl I loved,
Left standing on the platform, of life’s highway.
For broken hearted spirits,
From a broken hearted body,
Stands a lonely man, who never found his way.

MY GOD

I walk with God, the ruler of my heart
though I’m drowned in lonesome tears,
yet his glory vast, formless casting apart,
this circle wreathed with all my fears.
Life’s road is long, the shadows we all must share
its pathway endless, as we hover between,
our faith, tempering, its foundations eternal there
taking our poor souls, where only ghosts had been.
Father except us now, as sinners we come to thee.
For in our happiest days, departing far from you,
Falling from thy grace, but echoes of infinity
our wanderings over, exalted rest forever with you.

TWO LOVERS WALKED LONG AGO

Her beauty still scents the breeze that flew
Around the lake, where I first saw her gaze,
Like the fragrant sweet English morning dew,
Rising beside the shadowlands haze.
From the cliff top to the sandy beach
The seaward air dancing on the foam,
Sea washed pebbles just out of reach
Laughing like children as we roam.

Her hazel eyes and auburn hair
still vibrant as I called her sweet colleen,
in that English summer, remembered there,
around each Dale, and Field still evergreen.
To the shore where the fresh wind now lies
in the morning’s coolness, touching her face,
waiting for the sunlight again to raise
Translucent, in its warm embrace.

The breakers still curling against the rocks
Spraying two lovers in the early dawn.
My hands lost forever in her locks,
in that late summers morn.

Now as the twilight once more descends,
As the sunsets splendour, begins to show,
One English summer as it ends
Where arm in arm, two lovers walked long ago.

Pickets charge
by richie

Up men, up, and to your posts.

You may tell them that all Virginia was here this day

for your lands, for your homes, for your sweethearts, for your Wives, for Virginia.

“It was the most beautiful sight I ever saw” union officer watching
Pickets 15,000 men in perfect line.
--------------------------------------------

With Banners, flags, that dazzle the sky
Gleaming through that morning mist,
Those distant footsteps, of 15,000 souls
Such fame none could resist.
And every tone of their music could be heard.
Around the fields of Gettysburg.

Each regiments songs filled the air
To the echoes of a great longing sigh.
Noble gallants, fell with friend and foe
Amid the horrors there banners fly.
And each drumbeat, a noble test
Beneath their sorrows, to meet the rest.

The earth shudders with every step
Guns, burning to the front of each line,
This dreadful insanity, shakes and waves
Then steers its teeth, for one last time.
As they rise upon the grassy verge, a sigh,
On- mass, they gather with each dying eye.

Yet still they came, on and on,
One noble heart, though danger nigh,
Like a portrait treading where they fell,
As one voice the legions flashed by.
And their haunting music still was heard
Around the fields of Gettysburg.

All that perished that summer’s day
With shot and shell, yet still stun the foe,
Their armies’ retreat, in ordered line,
Under that dark summer's sky below.
And their music can still be heard
Around the fields of Gettysburg.

SONG

My home it still calls me
Away across the blue-ridge,
Where you’ll always find me
Where I’ll ever be.
Now as the shadows falling
I hear my true love calling,
By the river she’ll be waiting
Near that old oak tree.
My home it still calls me
Away across the blue-ridge,
Where you’ll always find me
Where I’ll ever be.

-SONG-
[revised]

When the rain has left the leaves with tears
and all around those regrets and fears,
wishing you were here again by my side.
And as the moonlight gently cools the air
I seem once more to see you everywhere,
wishing again to see your lovely smile.

And as the summer sun around me rolls
then on to autumn's lovely tint of gold,
dreaming of those times when we were young.
Remembering those days way back then
together walking life's road, we parted when,
our live’s had only really just begun.

CHORUS

Then slumber comes to hide my tears
living with those memories and those fears,
and dreams reliving memories so sublime.
Trying to find you again
a shield to use to hide my pain,
Waking suddenly, and finding by my side
those hazel eyes and auburn hair
she so flushed, and she so fair.
And everywhere I seem to see your lovely face.

REPEATE

When rain has left the leaves with tears
and all round those regrets and fears
Wishing you were here again by my side.
And as the moonlight gently cools the air
I seem to see you everywhere,
wishing once more to see your lovely smile.

CHORUS-AND FADE.

My prayer

Father through thy grace, may we always flow
and guide humanity, so all will know.
may we follow thee, through our fears and need
Showing our loved ones the road to lead.
And in thy strong arms, holding all who may
Reach out to thee, forever guiding their way.
Though pain and suffering fill our life
Obscuring the way, blighted, and in strife.
For those seeking only the cold grave
Father, through your mercy, find and save.
Though grievously tempted, day by day
As we struggle father, to find the way.
For who is greater than thee my lord
Lightened by that heaven, forever stored.
And did the lamb once follow thee
To hear your words, that set us free.
Lead to the cross, life’s blood to take.
Thy Calvary, and suffering for our sake.
Then bear the pain, so all may know
The shepherd walked this earth long ago.
The yearning souls languish seeking thee
Will find new hope, in thy promised eternity.
For all who thirst father, bring to thy fold
To reach at last, thy light of truth and hold.
Though broken in spirit, hurt and torn
In your strong arms held, and so reborn.
For one so poor in spirit, unsure in mind
Father, by thy grace we shall ever find.
For none shall be left in the cold and all alone
In thy light, you will lead your children home.

SHADOWS

In the dim and fading light
I saw the shadow in the night,
and its course as it headed out to sea,
would she never return to me.?
And this shadow so strange and swift
in darkness swept, but did not lift,
into the nights softness where spirits climb
like souls in torment, our hearts entwine.
Presently now, as I watched almost aghast
like some visitor knocking, then hurrying past.
”Madam, said I please come in”?
In the darkness peering I looked again,
”shadow said I,” I thought I saw,
you glide in my room, under my door.
But the streaming of the shadows round my room
fell silent against the fullest moon.
And as I looked again the seas were still,
from my window entombed, in my dreams until,
the dawn's light begins again to fill my room.
And suddenly! I awake, alas again too soon?

Still makes me write these and I do so with that in mind.
I have made this into a soldier’s lament
--------------------------

Battle of Shiloh
A soldier’s lament

Intro

The dreams we dreamed, so long ago
The battle cry, the rush now gone.
Where none but the brave may go
To this hallowed ground, now laid upon.
As the night comes, and shadows fall
Upon the fields of Shiloh,
Again we hear the bugle call
As we did all those years ago.
And as the shadows pass across the sky
They still echo once more our battle cry.

All the guns are silent now
Upon the fields of Shiloh,
By that old meeting hall
Where we left our dreams that day.
And as the shadows pass across the sky
They still echo once more our battle cry.

Like a band of noble gentlemen
They came to meet the foe.
Alas the fates, decreed for them-
Only broken hearts forevermore.
And those distant footsteps that echo still
To the drumbeats rap, with its grisly shrill.

The bloodiest of all that day
Around the fields of Shiloh,
Where now only our memories lay,
Like a melodies haunting flow.
And the passage of time cannot erase
The haunting music, of those April days.

The silent stillness of that warm Sunday
Marching beguiled, though shot and shell.
With Banners, Flags, Glorious they say,
And plunged boldly to their last farewell.
As the shadows pass across the sky
They echo once more our battle cry.

The streams, now pink, its colour shown
Around the fields of Shiloh.
As they charged the sunken road alone
Like the mighty winds constant flow.
Those April days when our age was made
Around the fields of Shiloh.
Lost in the mists of time now laid
Two mighty armies, footsteps ever go.
And through the stillness you can still hear
Those gallant hearts, forever resting here.

The dreams we dreamed, so long ago
The battle cry, the rush now gone.
Where none but the brave may go
To this hallowed ground, now laid upon.
As the night comes, and shadows fall
Upon the fields of Shiloh,
Again we hear the bugle call
As we did all those years ago.

And as the shadows pass across the sky
They still echo once more our battle cry.

Oh Fortune's pride, my love so flushed and fair
Though my cup now runneth forth with pain,
I dwell in words, a mist of sorrow where
The idol of my passion, like a burdened lain.

Remembered still, thy hazel eyes
Lips for the kissing, around autumn fields,
‘Twas my folly rising unto the very skies
Love gaily shared, is my torment and my shield.

The daylight shone, where my true love lies
A slave was I, now lost and forborest by thee,
Sweet regret, once cherished now with thee fly’s
Thus left to weepe, for even brave gallants crye.

Our loves dying embers still echoing where
Thy love, a benediction nevermore to share.

I awake again to those distant dreams of you,

A sparrow by my window flew
leaving only fragments as it swiftly fled.
In the mornings dim light as it streams
lost in those fragments of my dreams.
For never was there one so fair,
those hazel eyes still entrance me now.
And silent thought’s I cannot share,
till the darkness descends and will allow.
As the evenings darkness once more enclose
waiting eagerly, as each new dream again flows.
Now I fill this cup, with love it Brims,
and until the earth and heaven are one.
I cannot sup the joy it brings,
for in each nights Darkness, I now belong.
Darkness comes and there is nothing more

I wrote this Prayer for my niece who is eight years old; I have tried to make it a simple Prayer to God.

PRAYER
by richie

Oh Father I love you and adore
you make my life complete,
and each new day I love you more
my heart and soul to keep.

And all the days that I may live
for you who made the sea and shore,
in the love and mercy that you give
I will walk forevermore.

Oh Father I love you and adore
for your gifts I may not merit,
my needs you know though I ask for more
and your love fills up my spirit.

And every day when I awake
I raise my eyes above,
remembering that for our sake
you gave your eternal love.

Oh Father I love you and adore
you make my life complete,
and each new day I love you more
my heart and soul to keep.

My England

I must return to the place I love
to the windswept Dales Rising high above,
the yorkshire town below.
Encircling all old England’s industrial Might.
To walk again those high roads,
up to the rising of the light.
To the rising of the light again,
that melts into this haunting scene.
For none can match or dream,
the wonders there I’ve seen.
I must Go back once more
to wait the rising of the light.
Of the hearts of all Who’ve drunk in this sight,
against each evernings sunsets twilight.
Upon the Dales Of England,
as I wander my earthly home.

its wings half flapping so hard to win.

Twelve hours later the fight was won

strange how fate sets our problems free.

PAIN

I walk these sinuous paths, ever winding

hoping for those echoes of forgetfulness.
A velvet cushioned seat,
sinking within the shadows,

Lost in the weary flow of time,
monumental in its grandeur.
Bringing the burning pain again,
as I kneel broken
beneath the vastness of utter desolation.
Once more I walk

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things, which escape those who dream only by night.
Edgar Allan Poe

Those who dream

Dim the light, and fading fast
His appearance like a globe-orb past,
my chamber, strangely radiating from
this suffocating stillness, descending on.
As the illuminating moon, where spirits roam
while I ponder the letters on my tombstone.
“Come now the Demon, seemed to say”
Through the ghastly mist, as I gently lay.
Then the stranger, appeared as from a dream,
Proceeding to absorb, all that I’d been.
My Riotous heart, once expressed and proud
now prays for the morrow, silent as a shroud.
Then drift in the shadows, all doom and gloom,
this ecstatic silence, pray departing soon
”I ask for time, and beg his grace”
Though no pity shows upon his face.
“Sir hold thy hand, and stay thy ground”
Unchain my soul, now curled around.
For those who've rested in Heavens grace,
that impending beauty, grasping Gods embrace.
He turns quietly smiling, and walks from me,
back to dreamland, each departing peacefully.

Sonata

As I lay again with a disconsolate longing
Lost in this pasturage, slumbering there,
The light shines like moonbeams closing,
And seamed to kiss my true loves hair.

On bended knee’s, I told the maiden
A thousand leagues, I’d ride to her,
and follow many a towering sunset,
With a heaving heart, just to find her there.

In the sculptured cornice, around her dwelling
As the moonlight comes and shadows call,
Encumbered, with my true loves tresses,
Soft breezes bathe her gently, then slowly fall.

As she sleeps, each kiss gently given now.
Doth so softly mingle on her silken brow.

poorest heart. Now as the twilight once more descends upon the
earth, and dreams Part the weary mind. To all who live,
and have lived, and will live, his Undying voice shall guide each spirit,
to be wreathed forever, encircled In his cherished heart.

---------------------
revised

In hamlets and palaces, the tortured
loneliness of humanity cries out
among the shadows of eternity
for the Messenger's return.

And all who have lately dwelt
on this disconsolate earth shall
know him, and the hour. He will talk
in the tongues of angels, yet be heard

by the smallest child. He will walk
in the shadows, yet his bright
light will touch all who crave his words.
High mountains shall bow

to Him in fealty, as He will bow
before the meekest soul
who cries out to him. He will walk
among strangers, and dwell

with kings, and the poorest heart.
Now twilight once more descends
upon the earth, and dreams part
the weary mind. To all who live,

and have lived, and will live,
his undying voice shall guide
each spirit, to be wreathed forever,
encircled in his cherishing heart.

THE POET
Dedicated to all who strive to create poetry

Tell me your tales, and fill me with awe
Lose me in your imagery, and beauty once more.
Show me the wonder, flow it deep in my heart,
Leaving my sorrows aside, in your words and your art.
With tales of brave hector, and Achilles so bold
the stories of legend let your pen now unfold.
Lift my emotions, tears fears and pain,
with the joys of tomorrow, left now to remain.
Take me to dreamland, and lead me once more
through the fields of my memories, again to explore.
Leave me enchanted, with distant echoes as they flow
in the hearts of the lonely, where the brave dare not go.
Through the pathways we tread, laid down by our way
where the shadowlands meet, and only lovers may stay.
As I journey undaunted, while you write line-by-line
in the words of the poet, in the truth of his rhyme.

COLOURS

Tangerine, and yellow ochre
mauve too, and brilliant white,
post-box red, maroon and amber
county cream, silky and bright.

Pink in places fawn surrounding
ecru, and midnight blue.
Black and gold and green abounding,
silver trimmings just for you.

Lovely orange, lilac gleaming
dark grey, and purple too.
Brown in plenty, yellow streaming
Magnolia kisses that say I love you.

Part Three:

(submissions for Poetry Pages Volume IV)

Richard Taylor (richie)

My name is Richard Taylor; I live in England coming from The north in the county of cleveland by the river Tees. I started to write poetry which I have always loved in 1997 after illness forced me to withdraw From my trade. I love all poetry especially Mr Edgar Allan Poe, And Burns, Coleridge, and many others.
I hope you enjoy this selection.

[if this is overlong with the three Triolets I can take two out cheers]
-------------------------------

TWO LOVERS WALKED LONG AGO

Her beauty still scents the breeze that flew,
around the lake, where I first saw her gaze.
Like the fragrant sweet English morning dew,
rising beside the shadowlands haze.
From the cliff top, to the sandy beach below-
the seaward air dancing on the foam,
sea washed pebbles, just out of reach
laughing like children as we roam.

Her hazel eyes, and auburn hair
still vibrant as I called her my sweet colleen,
in that English summer, remembered there,
around each Dale, and Field still evergreen.
To the shore where the fresh wind now sighs
in the morning’s coolness, touching her face,
waiting for the sunlight again to raise
translucent, in its warm embrace.

The breakers still curling against the rocks
spraying two lovers in the early dawn.
My hands lost forever in her locks,
in that late English summers morn.

Now as the twilight once more descends,
and the sunset’s splendour, begins to show.
One English summer as it ends.
Where arm in arm, two lovers walked long ago.

------------------------

Where I belong

Take me back, where the sunsets surround,
the long grass replenishing, and fresh waters abound.
Let your beauty flow in this land of the pine
where forest paths meet, by that riverbank climb.
Leave me here with my memories therein,
of our lost youth, and our love deep within.
Where the sunset’s rise, no shadow can hold,
leave nothing within, and never grow old.
Let dreams take me back; remember the time
we ran through the fields, and through the vine.
Show me the wonder, and fill me with awe,
cascading rivers, shimmering once more.
With the dawn of a new day the dew still on
where the shadowlands meet. Where I belong.

Broken hearts

Beneath my sadness and heartfelt woe
let life’s footsteps take me to the place,
where only those who’ve loved may go
fleeting are the memories of her sweet face.

The paths we walk, stumble and stray
the dreams we dream, now lost and gone.
In the lands where only lover’s play
leaving only our memories to rest upon.

”I seem to hear her sweet voice once more”
in my dreams, were those fragments reside.
Passing like phantoms, that still dwell before
those distant echoes, when you were by my side.

Walking slowly now as I silently steel away
with each dawn only broken hearts now lay.

---------------------------

Lady

Me-thinks I saw my love soar
swiftly high as before.
Perhaps sleepily now the world
I’ve left in dreams and echoes hurled.
Lady it will be my pleasure
to fit you through my tiny chamber
oh lady dear, have no fear
slumbering gently, dreamily here.
My room is gloomy and so melancholy,
we’ll reach those heights, as angles only.
And through your golden hair I'll grasp
tighter now, as one they clasp.
The trembling flow imbued your beauty
imposing love, oh heavenly duty.
And rise with fervour, in perfect bliss,
two Tantalized spirits, then gently-kiss..

THE HIGHWAYMAN

Being the sad tale of Jim Larkin

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

It happened on a rainy night
a single rider, strong and bold.
As the highwayman rode out of sight,
only in Death his fate be told.

The robbery planned, had gone astray
and a gunshot made a parting,
now the hangman waits in dismay
to end the life of one Jim Larkin.

For Jim it was to all that knew
a gentleman rider until then,
who robbed the rich swiftly he flew?
Into the hands of the gallows men.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

A merry dance Jim lead them all
for these four-year, he rode and well,
around old London’s by-ways the call
as the night descends what tales we'll tell.

No goal could hold him, not a one
for none were as bold and brave as he,
And bess, would wait far from the throng
Then carry Jim, once more to flee.

The children rhymed a song for him
with his trusty steed, a great white mare,
the bonny horse that carried Jim
for none could catch the pair.

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
Robbed the rich, to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

Now guilt did haunt him and he knew
For noble in his own way was he,
The time for parting for those that do,
The penance that sets all men free.

They found him in a grove of trees
He waited so that all would know,
For Jim, his spirit broken did grieve
“Sir take me, and to my gallows show”.

The goal house was dirty and cold
He gave an audience to one and all
the best in food and wine they sold
For Jim, waiting now for Death to call.

Gentleman Jim, and bonny bess
Robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

He ordered a suit of silk and lace
Ruby red, scarlet and white cockade,
Black leather boots, and a powdered face
and a bonny hat for Jim they made.

All London came to meet and stare
Jim asked forgiveness for his sin,
for one now lost, but knowing where
the thirteen steps awaited him.

Standing tall on his scaffold high
a gentleman to the last for them,
one last look up to the sky
then to his maker goes the highwayman.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
they robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

"Sir leave a shilling for the ferryman"
I’ve paid my dues to one and all,
Forgive my sins, and the course I ran
Then he bows his head and take his fall.

Gentleman Jim and bonny bess
they robbed the rich to leave them less,
and none could catch them as they ran
so say a Prayer for the highwayman.

DREAMLAND
version two

in the land of the pharaohs
where symmetry knows no home,
where logic is nonsense
and ghostly knights still roam.

In caverns deep and wide I fly
and wonder fills my heart.
Of monumental scenes that flow
and tear my soul apart.

Deep I go into the night
resisting morning’s dawn,
and deeper still I fight the light
in lovely dreams reborn.

I wonder if God above
made for us this domain,
to help us cope, through his love
nightly to escape our pain.

And as the dawn brings me awake,
only fragments now remain,
of that other life in which we take,
the relief that keeps us sane.

[And in this land of dreams each bring a sigh]
[As nightly we pass the wanderers by]

Prayer wrote for my niece aged 7

PRAYER

Oh Father, I love you and adore
You make my life complete,
and each new day I love You more
my heart and soul to keep.

And all the days that I may live
for You who made the sea and shore.
In the love and mercy that you give
I shall walk forevermore.

Oh Father, I love You and adore
for your gifts I may not merit,
my needs You know though I ask for more
and your love fills up my spirit.

And every day when I awake
I raise my eyes above,
remembering that for our sake
You gave your eternal love.

Oh Father, I love You and adore
You make my life complete,
and each new day I love You more
my heart and soul to keep.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST

Take me then, and spike me well
pass on your cruelty, flay, and bind.
I made my covenant before I fell,
and through my blood, and pain you'll find.
”Father, I must not die before I wake”,
for I know you are the only one.
And through my misery for their sake,
will find salvation, when I am gone.
And when it’s done, let my soul fly
above this earth, so all can take,
and by your hand the love that I
pass on to them, for your glories sake.
And did the Lamb once follow thee,
beneath the cypress, and the oak.
High mountains bow in fealty,
to hear the words the Shepherd spoke.
For all who thirst and hunger I will bring
them to your glory ‘father, to unfold.
So pity me in my agony, and suffering,
for these laws of life, to pass on and hold.
Now pray for me, and hear my cries
for as a man I bleed for thee.
When my test is done, let my spirit fly,
to wait for you in eternity.
The shadows come to take me now
I may not pass this way before
my sufferings done, and so now I bow
to be remembered, in you for evermore.

-----------------

ETERNITY

it lives in dawn's first ray of light
and in a newborn baby's cry.
It lives in the beauty of each night
and the love in a father’s eye.

In the earth and in the sky it lives,
among the hunger and the pain.
In the warmth of a mother's arms it lives
where rich or poor, will all be the same.

It lives in a church's smallest space
or wherever we bend our knee.
It lives in everyone. Whatever creed or race
bound together in eternity.

So dream of it and let it fill your heart
and never let it go.
And take it with you through your life
and eternally you will know.

HYMN

YOU ARE THE ONE

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
You are the light, that guards the way,
in our darkest night Your light shines through
You are our strength guiding us through.

The road we walk is long and wide
the pathway stony, on either side.
As we stumble on unsteady legs and fall
to you we reach Father, and through it all.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
You are the light that guards the way.
In our darkest night Your light shines through
You are our strength, guiding us through.

Though filled with doubts please lead us Lord
by Thy gentle countenance, again restored.
In times of need, again we pray
Your strong arms open, to guide our way.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
You are the light that guards the way.
In our darkest night Your light shines through
You are our strength, guiding us through.

Life's daily hazards, along the way
for those who stumble, fall and stray.
In our darkest dreams lost and forlorn,
Heavens pathway clears with Thee reborn.

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
You are the light that guards the way.
In our darkest night Your light shines through
You are our strength, guiding us through.

OH SUSANNE

Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty
with her hazel eyes, and auburn hair.
We all fell for Suzanne, it was our duty,
Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty.
The lads thought there none as fruity
As Susanne, for never was one so fair.
Susanne Sedgwick was such a beauty
with her hazel eyes and auburn hair.

Triolet
The First Time

The first time I saw her standing there
Beside me in the warm spring rain,
she was so flushed; she was so fair
the first time I saw her standing there.
The smile she smiled beyond compare
and nothing would ever be the same.
The first I saw her standing there
beside me in the warm spring rain.

---------------------------

Triolet
Bonny Lass

So goodbye to you my bonny lass;
Be kind when you next think of me,
The days we shared are gone, alas,
So goodbye to you my bonny lass,
Our love like shadows as they pass,
Just dreams, never meant to be.
So goodbye to you my bonny lass;
be kind when you next think of me.

------------------------

SWEET DREAMS

In the cold and fading light
through the dreams I dreamt that night.
Of a lady flushed and fair
with hazel eyes, and auburn hair.
Could it be that smile she smiled,
be for me, now so beguiled.
Lost in that dream so warm and safe,
in a perfect land, in a perfect place.
And on waking would I find
it just a figment of my mind.
Just a dream that seemed so real,
that comes but once, your soul to steal.
And from that night though I tried
to live again that dream, denied.
And now as the years have clouded me,
with no taste of life's great mystery.
And of that dream so long ago
in memory still, retains its glow.
And will until the church bells ring
remain with me, enclosed, within.
Completely as the fates decree
forever form a part of me.

LOST INNOCENCE

Children playing, funny faces
singing laughing having fun,
each day new adventures waiting
making friends with everyone.
"What's that laying silent in the ground?
What new toy have we found"
Look it has prongs like stars,
don't stand on it, you'll break it
here let me. Let me take it.
Another life snubbed out today
one more child never more to play;
on the news just a line
land mine maims some friends of mine.
In a land far away,
far from were your children play.
But it was some mother's son.
Innocence lost, no more fun.

-The SHADOW

All the angels in their glory
who touch men’s hearts yet cannot see,
upon this night writing my last story
Entombed am I in my own insanity.

I sit inside my gloomy chamber
Writing my poems by a flickering light,
Opening yet another dark container
Lost am I in my thoughts tonight.

Though my room is dark and lonely
my poems bring no tranquillity.
A flickering candle beside me only
lost in those shadows I cannot see.

And all the angels in their glory
who touch men’s hearts yet cannot see,
upon this night writing my last story
Entombed am I in my own insanity.

All those memories that still haunt me,
My cup empty, on unsteady legs I roll,
The flowing essence of her beauty
Still enthrals and enchants my soul.

I seam to see you standing by me
as once you did before I lost you,
a shadow passing slowly beside-me,
like a gentle breeze flowing through.

And all the angels in their glory
who touch men’s hearts yet cannot see,
upon this night writing my last story
Entombed am I in my own insanity.

The door then seams to creak and quiver
by a kinsman much stronger than me,
No person visible then to deliver
left alone to ponder my own eternity.

"Sir, pray please tell me truly
is my time done, have you come for me,"
my story now bequeathed to her beauty
Lost within my own infinity.

And all the angels in their glory
That touch men’s hearts yet cannot see,
Upon this night writing my last story
Entombed am I in my own insanity.

I ask for time and beg to deliver
for so much that’s left to do and yet,
No pity shows, as the shadows shiver
in the mould of life my time is set.

Then the shadow, glides into my room
Arms clutching as it shuts my door,
a face displays a smiling bloom
As though he’s heard it all before.?….

And all the angels in their glory
That touch men’s hearts yet cannot see,
Upon this night writing my last story
Entombed am I in my own insanity….

Twinkle little tiddly winks
Twinkle all the day,
Making pastry people
Toys and books and play.

I look for you in summer

And at the start of every day.

And when my heart is leaping
Or good news make me smile,
Its because of you my tiddly winks
You make our world worthwhile.

Once I lost a silly thing
It wasn't big, it didn't ring,
It didn't laugh it didn't sigh
It didn't sing it wasn't shy.
It wasn't short, it wasn't long
It didn't cry, it wasn't strong.
It wasn't high it wasn't low
It did not shine, it did not glow
I wonder why I loved it so?

Little Bird (children’s true story)

I saw a sparrow fall from the sky
I picked it up, I don't know why,
Its little body so small and thin,
Its wings half flapping so hard to win.
I cradled it and took it home
With milky bread we fought for life,
All day we fought together as one
Twelve hours later the fight was won.
It was the best of times for me
How strange fate sets our problems free,
Oh little bird how I loved thee.

DARK WALLS (written to a prisoner)

Never mind the cruel night
Never mind the burning light,
When you pledged your heart to me
Your spirit lifts this solitary.

Never mind those endless days
Never mind were boredom lays,
Remembering my past mistakes
My soul cries out, my heart just breaks.

Never mind the rain and tears
Never mind the flow of years,
The day will come, and soon my dear
A new beginning bright and clear.

AGINCOURT

Ride, my brave knights the call
and fill your arms with steel.
For on this day everlasting all
upon this Field our bowmen kneel,
against this might so small.

And shed no tears, or wipe your eye
for the blade and arrow will make the day.
And if by nature's moody cry
with our battalions we will slay.
like eagles our arrows fly.

Seven times ten, to meet and face
never was a day so lost.
But ten deep the bowmen knelt in place
and our knights to exact the cost.
among this dreadful place.

So spread the news far and wide
that on this day the battle cry.
Our task to meet, to seek, not hide
and Hero's to do or die.
Hero's on either side.

Bright Future (political)

Have you seen the news today
globle warming is here to stay.
Its only a matter of time,
but present company will be fine.?

The politicions have given word
it will not effect our present heard.
Currant comments, radical and rude
don't listen to the multitude.

Fine furniture in natural pine,
neat wodden house's, all tree lined.
Away with plastic, its out of date
back to wood, its not to late.?

The cars the star the adverts said,
combustion worries are far ahead.?
No need to have just one to go
some have two, three or four.

The seas are safe we are told
full of fish, as of old.
Don't swim near shore, please keep away,
insurance will not cover your hospital stay.

And if dear reader you feal it true
these caustic lines are left for you.
The experts insist a future bright
for all our sakes I hope the're right.?

SONG

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Hazal eyes and arburn hair
she was flushed and she was fair,
through strange fortune that allowed
our eyes to stare,
And from that moment, from that time
my heart now no longer mine
is forever-forever lost to her.

And slumber comes to hide my tears
sleeping with those feeling's and those fears,
and dreams reliving memories so sublime.

Trying to find you again,
a sheild to use to hide my pain.
Waking suddenly and finding-by my side-

"Those"

Repete-first verse

Trying to find you again

Waking suddenly and finding-by my side

COLOURS

Tangerine, and yellow ochre
mauve too, and brilliant white,
post-box red, maroon and amber
county cream, silky and bright.

Pink in places fawn surrounding
ecru, and midnight blue.
Black and gold and green abounding,
silver trimmings just for you.

Lovely orange, lilac gleaming
dark grey, and purple too.
Brown in plenty, yellow streaming
Magnolia kisses that say I love you.

THE RETURN OF THE CHRIST

In Hamlets and Palaces, the tortured loneliness of humanity
cry out among the shadows of Eternity for the Messengers return.
And all who have lately dwelt in this disconsolate Earth shall
know him, and the hour. He will talk in the tongues of Angels, yet be
heard by the smallest child. He will walk in the shadows, yet his bright
light shall touch all who crave his words. High mountains shall bow to
Him in fealty, as he will bow before the meekest soul who cries out to
him. He shall walk among strangers, and dwell with Kings, and the
poorest heart. Now as the twilight once more descends upon the
earth, and dreams Part the weary mind. To all who live,
and have lived, and will live, his Undying voice shall guide each spirit,
to be wreathed forever, encircled In his cherished heart.

in the hearts of the lonely

In the hearts of all the lonely
your words will guide the way.
Through the footsteps of our memory
Where the broken hearted lay.
In your vastness to encircle
where the dreamers now depart
in the fields of our tomorrows
Angels fly us to your heart.

Sonata

As I lay again with a disconsolate longing
Lost in this pasturage, slumbering there,
The light shines like moonbeams closing,
And seamed to kiss my true loves hair.

On bended knee’s, I told the maiden
A thousand leagues, I’d ride to her,
and follow many a towering sunset,
With a heaving heart, just to find her there.

In the sculptured cornice, around her dwelling
As the moonlight comes and shadows call,
Encumbered, with my true loves tresses,
Soft breezes bathe her gently, then slowly fall.

As she sleeps, each kiss gently given now.
Doth so softly mingle on her silken brow.

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things, which escape those who dream only by night.
Edgar Allan Poe

Those who dream

Dim the light, and fading fast
His appearance like a globe-orb past,
my chamber, strangely radiating from
this suffocating stillness, descending on.
As the illuminating moon, where spirits roam
while I ponder the letters on my tombstone.
“Come now the Demon, seemed to say”
Through the ghastly mist, as I gently lay.
Then the stranger, appeared as from a dream,
Proceeding to absorb, all that I’d been.
My Riotous heart, once expressed and proud
now prays for the morrow, silent as a shroud.
Then drift in the shadows, all doom and gloom,
this ecstatic silence, pray departing soon
”I ask for time, and beg his grace”
Though no pity shows upon his face.
“Sir hold thy hand, and stay thy ground”
Unchain my soul, now curled around.
For those who've rested in Heavens grace,
that impending beauty, grasping Gods embrace.
He turns quietly smiling, and walks from me,
back to dreamland, each departing peacefully.

PAIN

I walk these sinuous paths, ever winding
around these endless tortuous days,
hoping for those echoes of forgetfulness.
A velvet cushioned seat,
sinking within the shadows,
once more Longing for sleep
Lost in the weary flow of time,
monumental in its grandeur.
Bringing the burning pain again,
as I kneel broken
beneath the vastness of utter desolation.
Once more I walk
in the garden of my own Gethsemane’
among the ghosts
that clothe me in garments of sorrow.

LITTLE BIRD

I saw a sparrow fall from the sky
I picked it up; I don't know why,
its little body so small and thin
its wings half flapping so hard to win.
I cradled it and took it home
with milky bread we fought for life.
all day we fought, together as one.
Twelve hours later the fight was won
it was the best of times for me,
strange how fate sets our problems free.
Oh little bird how I loved thee.

You Are The One (Hymn)

Post by heinzs » Fri Jul 06, 2007 9:55 am

YOU ARE THE ONE

Chorus

You are the one, that starts our day
You are the light, that guards the way,
in our darkest night Your light shines through
You are our strength guiding us through.

The road we walk is long and wide
the pathway stony, on either side.
As we stumble on unsteady legs and fall
to You we reach, Father and through it all.
