So I've decided to take up motorcycling
It's something I've always wanted to learn. I took a rider's course last month and got my certification and added the M to my license. One of my friends pointed me towards a newly released motorcycle called a Scout, made by Indian. It fits within the budget, so that's not a major concern. I test rode one a few weeks ago at the local dealership in Littleton. It was very fun, and I liked the way the motorcycle felt, handling wise. I'm a little bit afraid of how much power it has, but maybe that will go away with more experience? I don't know, but I am excited about taking a new direction in my life. Perhaps this will even inspire me to write something.

Having that much power beneath you can be both intimidating and exhilarating.
It takes awhile but eventually it becomes second nature.
That's when the real fun begins.

Good luck and safe cycling to you, I myself never got the bug for riding a bike. I have many friends and family members that are very passionate about it and a couple who have started late in life due to the gas crisis. Take Care
Take me back, so far back, adjust this fate. Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light. The fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul. Wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought. Add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

Re: So I've decided to take up motorcycling
My first was a Norton and it had quite the kick. Still like a occasional morning ride on a 2 lane blacktop but I don't do long road trips anymore. Some of my pals are well into their 70s and still ride south all winter. I'm getting soft compared to them. The destination, not the ride, is much more of a priority these days. Besides all that, no one would want these old organs anymore; in case I did lunch out on the grill of some Yuppie mobile.

I've only been on my bike twice this year. Once to get it inspected, and one other mountain ride. I find I just don't have the time anymore. Anyone want to buy a 2002 Kawasaki Meanstreak,...vance and hines straight shots, and an air kit. Only 3800 miles. Oil changed every year with Mobil 1. It's like brand new.

You should put a little bit more life into your kawi. Pretend your one of the Expendables in lederhosen and a sawed off shotgun on the side ready to do some serious damage instead of just driving it around your porch at 15m/hr. An evil sounding German accent wouldn't hurt either.bags123 wrote:I've only been on my bike twice this year. Once to get it inspected, and one other mountain ride. ..or be like one of the Norseman in the 13th Warrior - a movie I always liked who doesn't much like movies in general - more eager to die in battle than in bed or like King Arthur in Excalibur sailing into legendary splendor.
Would any one of them have sold his Kawi if he had that instead of a horse? I think not!

The 13th Warrior was filmed outside of Williams Lake B.C. and the bear people cavern is located in Farwell Canyon. The canyon is a place where my first wife and I often went camping. Many of the extras in the movie were friends and acquaintances. The long boat and fortress built for the film are still there.

I have been having so much fun with this!!!!!!!!!! Last year, whenever I could get away for the day on a weekend, I took the quickest road out of town and the longest road home I could find. There is such a sense of peace and serenity that I get when I am riding canyon sweepers and mountain passes. I can't wait to start doing it again this summer. I absolutely adore my little red Scout.

Welcome to the club! Just remember in Michigan, helmets are optional. Unless you are pedaling a bike and I do mean a ten speed. Never understood that law then again our governor is a moron.

Wait, helmets are optional for motorcycles but mandatory for bicycles?

Yup, I think it's been a law for about three years now. Dumb as hell if you ask me.
