Heart of my heart
I struggle as your dad
I am not perfect
So far from it
I try
Perhaps, not hard enough
To be there for you
But you look right through me
Your soft green eyes pierce my heart
And once again
I have failed your expectation
And we both walk away
In silence
The sun has set
Darkness turns to light
Sharing stilted conversations
A dad’s love for his daughter
Rises unconditionally
A new day
Another chance to say
