Old Habits

I am reflecting on my moments ... some I am not so proud
Times I felt alone... as stood there in a crowd
Times when I couldnt point out, one close and true friend
Someone I would know and keep close until the end
Those days when I was angry ... when I couldn't face who I learned I was
When I could no longer take it ... when life dug in it's claws
I know I must have made it .. because I believe I found my soul
Because I cut loose all old habits .. that I had given such control
I no longer abuse my own body ... I dont hide with a spoon
I am ready to face my everything ... because I am now immune
So bring onto me anything .. I know that I cant fall
Because of where I've been ... in all that trash that I did crawl
The gifts I have allowed myself .. make me laugh at all my past
Nothing can catch me now... Because I'm learning so dam fast
The ashes I have spawned from ... The scars that I have bare
The messages I'm sending you ... all my unanswered prayer
I don't feel so torn inside anymore ... I know the old me won't return
All the darkness that I've lived ... it's not all that I have learned
Forget it!.. I survived it ! You cant take that away
Especially with the confidence I feeling today!
