Ah, Jenn, this sent shivers up my back...and what you would take back, achingly sad. But I would not have met you, Jenn, nor the many who you have touched with your life-light. Small, sick consolation, I know, but you have enriched my life, and my mind.

If I had been a good girl when I was young
He wouldn't have had to do the things that were done
And my life would have been a happy one

If I had gone south instead of north
To L.A. or San Diego (oh hell, why not say Tijuana)
Would things have turned out any differently?

If I could gather back in all those lost years
Take out the pain and the hunger and the misery
Would I then be a better person than the one I have become?

If I had died that bloody day and gone on to what lies beyond
And not wandered my bleak and sorrowful path
Would the world be any better off? or any worse?

If I could take back just one thing
Rip it screaming and fighting out of my dark and gloomy life
I would take out the day, dad, that you went to work
And came home a week later

had all those "ifs" not been a part of your life, you would not be the person you are today, the person that has revealed itself on these pages, the very talented woman who has overcome some pretty horrific ordeals (the main word there being overcome!) you have such a gift for writing, jenn, don't ever forget that! i always look forward to reading your latest piece, for i know your pieces are filled with heart and soul and are as real as it gets. don't think i have met too many people that are as in touch with their souls as you are....keep up the AMAZING writing jenn!!
