Uninvited Winter Guests

Wet snow upon the rooftop rests
Like uninvited winter guests
Who unexpectedly arrive
Despite the bitter cold outside

Then lingers stubbornly up there,
while freezing in the frozen air
Accumulating snow abides
Despite the bitter cold outside

Until the Northern wind blows fits
Ill temper flailing till it quits
Spits drifting snow that's reapplied
Despite the bitter cold outside

It finds new places it should lay
On unexpected winter days
Warm in my home where I'll reside
Despite the bitter cold outside
I prefer to keep an open mind,....but not so much that my brains fall out.- Carl Sagan

Stay close to your fireside my friend
until winter comes to an end.
But still be careful how you go
Black ice stil lurks though theres no snow.
one slip is all that it takes
older bones easy to break.
Once you have reached a certain age.
You shelter from the winters rage.
But watch the kids enjoy the snow.
The way you did long ago

Hi Ivor. Thanks for the poetic warning. I still love the wintertime,...it's the snow that's getting problematic.

Haven't seen Ivor in some time, either.
