Majority Rule.

Majority rule.
Cywydedd dewair hyrion.

Some few men are discontent.
But many are quite content.
I don’t know why that should be
But it is apparently.
It is my opinion
You cannot please everyone.
An impossibility
We know this but we still try
Though laws are imperfect tools
Societies must have rules.
There is no alternative
We must find a way to live.
Which suits the majority
who can live in harmony.
Although the minority
still complain constantly
They must be taught to obey
But they should be free to say.
Without fear of punishment.
Why they’re feeling discontent.
Protest should not be suppressed
nor minorities oppressed
That is how democracy
works. Or it ought to be.
I am sure there’ll always be.
A few who think differently
Hold another point of view.
As they are entitled to.
It’s no crime to disagree
with the states authority.
But they must obey the law
Or be prepared to pay the score.
