Paint blue to keep the subject clear
Then hang it out to dry for years
Next fill it out with cracks and pain
To run her fingers through the grain
But never show it to a soul
Keep buried deep inside a hole
Yet take it out just now and then
To run her fingers through again
Now when the paint is flaked and gone
No canvas left to paint upon
She’ll take your brush to rinse it clean
Of all the things you kept unseen
So when you hang it on display
Or sell it to a gallery
She’ll claim to be the subject who
Was inspiration all for you
Paint Blue To Keep The Subject Clear
