A Cynic's Sonnet
The cynic's one whose ideals all have failed
Whose logic supercedes a broken heart
Embarrassed by the dreams they once detailed
In worlds they once believed would not depart
They’ve come to see their words with open eyes
Realizing everything will always change
And while their youthful hopes have been revised
They’ll struggle, as their notes are rearranged
For lies are more appealing than the truth
Regardless of the price we all must pay
Despite the time worn promises of youth
We age, and soon they sound like old clichés
In truth a cynic loves what they have lost
But truly they believe they’ve paid the cost
A Cynic's Sonnet
