Upon request, Nef kindly shared a bit about her self with us. Thank you Nef!

What is your age bracket: under 25, 25 - 50, over 50?
.....over 50 by about 2 mo.s..haha!

What is your name? Where do you live? What do you like to do? What is your occupation?
Real Name..DJ HILL-OGLESBEE, I LIVE IN IDAHO AND HAVE LIVED HERE MOST OF MY LIFE. I am currently retired..not by choice by disability...for the last 4 years, prior to that I worked at a Vet Clinic and Animal Shelter for 22 years and for the most part loved it! I of course like to write, I love cats and horses, Nascar racing and football, reading, scrapbooking, gardening and photography.

How long have you been writing poetry? Do you recall what led you, if anything, to start writing? Have you ever been published?
I have been writing poetry since I was 12 or 13....wow lots of years but when you love some thing. I was first published at age 16 or 17 in the American Poetry Anthology. I have been published in two more like publications since then. My writing was born of my love of reading, but being blessed or cursed with a short attention span I limited my self to poetry and didn't expand to novels although I have penned a few short stories when I was in High School. I just love poetry the rhyme or not the rhyme it is just great and a great way to express yourself. I had a Gradmother on my Dads side that wrote, published and sang her own songs so maybe a bit of my talent was inherited, I like to think so anyway.

What inspires you to write? Is there a certain setting where you like to write? Do you listen to music when you write?
Everything in life is inspiring to poetry, music is a big help to me when I write. And I like all sorts of music so it helps me to write all sorts of topics.

What is one of your favorite poems that you have penned? Would you mind sharing why or the story behind the poem?
Oh my gosh I could never pick a favorite all my poems are like children, no favorites. But all are loved. And I always have room in my heart for more of those word filled gems, mine and the creations of others. I can't even choose a favorite topic! That would certainly depend on the day and my mood.

Last Stand

You know a cowboys work is never done,
It starts with the coming of the dawn.
He wakes with the cold and sleeps with the dust,
Sharing it all with his horse that he trusts.

Riding the range from sunrise to sundown,
Not even noticing the snow on the ground.
The seasons they come and they go,
It's all the same, don't you know.

The cattle must be tended,
And fences must be mended.
Horses that must be broke to ride,
Venison and spuds waiting to be fried.

It's not for the glory or money, that he rides,
It's the love of nature that he carries inside.
The world he shares with his horse and dog,
Never to be traded for a life of city smog.

Fresh air to breath and the wide open spaces,
God's country, the most wonderful of places,
He was born here to ride the open plains,
To ride in the winds and the wild spring rains.

He'll tend to the cattle and keep the land,
It's 2002 but it seems the cowboys last stand.
So many modern things are taking over the west,
Some things people seem to think are the best.

Cowboys that herd cattle in a plane in the sky,
Cowboys that drive pickups and can't seem to ride.
Cell phones and computers, out here on the range,
To most old cowboys this seems mighty strange.

Leather you see is on a couch and his boots,
These cowboys have lost sight of their roots.
Too much modernization, way too much change,
The cow, the horse and the cowboy on the range.

He'll tend to the cattle and he'll keep the land,
For he will be makin' the cowboys last stand.

Indian Tears

The wild desert wind sings to her,
As mother nature begins her daily stir.
Ebony tresses flutter in the breeze,
The birds trill to all from the trees.

Her brown eyes survey the earths quickening,
The lands rich blooming is softly beckoning.
Native to this land, as far as the eye can see,
Borne here, bred here, she is native Cherokee.

Sleeping beneath the open starlit skies,
Crying tears sown by the whitemans lies.
Taking what God and nature always said was hers,
Taken in by the whitemans fancy civilized lures.

Reservation, a new name for a place to call home,
The noble Cherokee has never felt more alone.
And all that she once knew to be free,
It has all been taken from the Cherokee.

Doritos

All covered in that delicious fake cheese,
Can't eat just one, I want a truck load please.

Crispy and golden, Doritos, so orange, crunchy and good,
You better be movin' if they're not sold in your 'hood.

You know that the original is truely the best,
Give them the orange fingers and neon lips test.

Cool Ranch are ok, and Salsa flavor ain't bad,
And the giant bags are best idea they've had.

A chip snacker's dreams have finally come true,
With Big Bags there is enough for me and you.

Eternity

We have loved so long,
Years and long years.
I know your touch,
As well as you know mine.
Our hearts blend into a single beat,
As our breath is one when our lips meet.

Holding hands on those long walks,
Whispered I love you in my ear.
We will love as long as time,
Our silver heads bent near to each other.
Listening to soft words of love,
Older than the dawn of time.

Yes, we will love forever,
Each day fresh like our first kiss.
Glory in the timeless wonder,
Of the love we forever feel.
Walk with me hand in hand for eternity,
No greater gift this love we share, you and me.
