Kind enough to listen monorhyme
by poeticpiers
20-Aug-08

Kind enough to listen
One evening when the moon was new.
Into my field of vision flew
a fairy maiden dressed in blue
Se greeted me as if she knew
I needed someone to talk to.
We chatted for an our or two
And shared our different points of views
She said her daily task was to
renew wild harebells paint them blue.
She shyly asked what do you do.
I said my working days were through
I could not what I used to.
She sympathises as fairies do.
Then took her leave and off she flew.
I swear to you my tale is true.
You disbelieve I’m sure you do
but kind enough to listen to
an old mans tales; few people do.

Thinking
by poeticpiers
23-Oct-08

The lightning flashed, the thunder roared.
Combined in mad cacophony
The suddenly peace is restored.

The clouds disperse the moon shines through
and the stars are visible gain.
Pinpoints of light against the blue.

Far distant stars that we can see.
Each one of them a burning sun.
I sit and wonder quietly.

Do they perhaps have planets too
in orbit round the mother star.
I think that it might well be true.

It seems to me that it must be
at least a possibility.
That we will learn eventually.

We aren’t alone we never were.
That there are other races too
that live and thrive somewhere out there.

Perhaps they sit and wonder too
and see our sun another star
a mere pinpoint against the blue.

Monumental mistakes.
by poeticpiers
Thursday, 10 March 2011

Boiled cabbage, stale urine and cats.
Drab concrete corridors and stairs.
My memories of high rise flats.
That seemed to spring up everywhere.

These hideous monstrosities.
Designed by modern architects.
Like symptoms of some foul disease
They had unwanted side effects.

Designed to house the multitudes.
Desperate for some place to stay.
most councils took the attitude.
That high rise flats were here to stay.

Though time has proved them incorrect.
Nobody wants to occupy
A space which they cannot protect.
Where social rules do not apply.

Most people value privacy.
So they prefer a dwelling place.
Which has a defined boundary?
Which demarcates their private space?

These stark reminders of the past.
Unloved unwanted monuments.
Although they had been built to last.
Another failed experiment.

The architects misunderstood
basic human psychology.
They saw no reason people should
not live in close proximity.

The high rise flats rejected by
the people they were meant to serve.
Will be torn down eventually
A fate I think they well deserve.

They stand abandoned to decay.
Not worth the cost of maintenance.
The great mistakes of yesterday.
Which never really stood a chance.

Their ugliness beyond belief.
Soul less concrete monstrosities.
Some still stand in high relief.
Blighting the skylines of cities.

Human beings were not meant
to live in hives communally.
So they expressed their discontent.
Rejecting universally.

The high rise flats unsuited to
the way of life they wished to live.
They had a very different view.
on living in a concrete hive.

The flats were built at great expense
but soon became white elephants
The hatred of them was intense.
They did not meet the peoples wants.

Boiled cabbage, stale urine and cats
Drab concrete corridors and stairs.
My memories of the high rise flats
Now being torn down every where.

I've tried two more emails for Ivor and both bounced. This is not looking good.

Success, I have located Ivor and he is well. Apparently they have been moving and haven't had internet access. He'll be back on board once he's settled in.
