Legacy of the Palmares

A bright smile on a bitter face,
a blood rush from exertion,
reaching beyond past limits,
pushing..
pressing..
leaning out...

legs straining for the labor,
lungs bursting from exhaustion,
bouncing, rolling, rambunctious,
tired..
finished..
worn through...

and looking for more

Sugared Assassin

Forever is a long time..
ignorantly thought,
thought I knew
I did not understand
just what it had meant
when passion told you.

I could not understand
what it would mean,
what it would demand,
years after you'd left

After all this
forever stands true

Just Another Day

Strewn across furnishing
burnt from the week
beat from lack of sleep
sleep that will not come.

Media overdriven all day
wish it would go away
yet a movie plays at self behest.

Unprompted her name,
spilled forth into mind.

Through a reflex of pain
images take control.

fingers pressing into skull
digging deeply,
as though through clay
dark dark red seeping out
watching from without

hands rip,
tearing offending flesh,
tossing deviant matter
up.. up.. over..
taking with it strands of gore.

Such images are nothing new.

Shaking off thought
and with it, dread
knowing that both will pass
as they always do.

The season outside is loud,
rifting through branches
calming spirit,
a falls harsh words
music to an embittered soul.

Sighing.. lurching upward
.. faltering to the kitchen.

It is a walk of everyday
to prepare the same lunch
that is prepared .. every day.

Sure,
there may be slight variance
but little challenge to experience.
So very little.

Noticing a 6 pack,
bought a week ago,
untouched
almost just for show.

Despite normal tendency,
popping the top
the earthy scent hits home

Near mugs lay an avocado
placed to ripen the night before.

Reaching for the treat,
a vision of the mind absorbs

behind night-darkened glass,
a shadow.
Stretching outward
blackened arm breaks pane
clawed fingers clasp wrist,
drawing me into the night.

Such images are nothing new.

With a small smirk I test the item,
knowing it will not be ready.
It is not.

Turning,
I put food together
a lunch of turkey, swiss,
and mustard
on olive-oil wrap.

With a haughty disgust,
I look upon empty containers.

Searching myself bemusedly,
probing at this feeling.

Am I mad?
Do I take self-pity?
Why is it these things vex me
it is only an empty container,
.... and a full trash can

No..
No I realize.
I am “merely” tired of such events
tired of these mild sufferings
tired of these things
these things that make up life.

So tired..

lunch packed,
and evening done
pen to paper
to let the ink run

Firm Ground

Fold to earth
bend one leg
then the other
discomfort immediate
straighten, fold, press
fidget
adjust, compose
a handful of breaths
blank wall
blank mind
blank
boring
skittering thought
a love of the past
shrug it off
fidget
a more recent love..
what didn't you buy?
What did you?
Shrug it off
adjust
stare
is your room clean?
Does it matter?
It doesn't exist
but it's there somewhere
right?
Fidget
how long
must be hours
admonishing self,
glance to clock
no, only minutes
sigh
relax, compose,
breathe.
Looking..searching
peace for self,
no existence of self
just chaos..
fidget..
breathe...
solidity of mind
boredom
peace
song lyrics..
brush it off..
adjust...breathe

It'd be great if you dug up some of your older material that no longer exists on the board and repost it. Nostalgia is a virtue... lol.

I had no idea until I noticed the icon on one of my posts :flop:

as for some of the older stuff.. I probably have some on an old hard drive.. I really don't hold onto much. I'll have to fire that thing up.

:thewave: Congrats!!
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…
