LOVE ABSENT
by AlaskanRambler
The evening is cool.
Pines emit a breezy tune.
I sit here alone on the bank
of the Ohio, and you , so far away.
When will the river freeze
so I can once again see you?
Our separation is too long.
I wonder if you pine
for me as I do you?
The birds are nesting
til’ the morn shines down
while dew beads evaporate.
Into the night, barges
navigate down the river.
Their lights glow, horns scream,
sounding their warning blasts.
One by one they disappear
as my love surely did.

(Counter) Clockwise
by foreverflame

The clock strikes 6:00…
Piercing beams
envelope a horizon
barely seen.
Creeping slowly
upon the sky
are various lines
that vary in size.
The clock strikes 8:00…
Waking sky
disperses the night
through use of sun’s light.
Over the trees,
it sends its gaze.
Its maximum length
not yet attained.
The clock strikes 10:00…
Brightly lit.
Sunlight sits high.
It’s shine is sent.
Still yet, it climbs
with high intent.
The peak stands by
for time to hit.
The clock strikes 12:00…
Maximize.
High point achieved
and seen in sky.
Victory
has pierced the night
Revealing its seed
seen as the light…
(Counter)
The clock strikes 6:00…
Altered tint
sent through the lines
of skylineness.
Parts of night
are lightly etched.
It’s time comes soon,
but doesn’t come yet.
The clock strikes 8:00…
Shadows form.
Still few in number,
not yet in swarms.
Light’s high place
descends at last.
Beyond the reach
of peak’s high grasp.
The clock strikes 10:00…
Exposing moon.
Last rays of light
fade far from view.
All is faded.
One light shown,
not as a shine,
but as a glow.
The clock strikes 12:00…
Domination.
High shine drops
to locked encagement.
Victory
has pierced the light.
Revealing its seed
seen as the night…

... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots… ~ jeannerené
