my minefield

beyond the bricks and mortar,
over the grief filled moat,
is a minefield
sprinkled with packets
of despair
you see I left them there
so if I breached my fortress
and dared to venture forth
I would stumble on my path
and know no hope
so here I am
in the open
lost & broken
with no way home
