Winner: Poem of the Week: August 7, 2005
Distant Lover
by greeneyes
I remember the first time I saw you
there on the stage,
how your hands
weaving melodies
embraced me,
a stranger's caress,
lyrics tangling around me,
you smiled at me
set my heart leaping
like the scattering of butterflies,
I watched as your fingers
stroking intimately
stoked the fire in my veins,
as I drank you in
only whetting my thirst,
desiring your passion for music
to become a passion for me
past and future melting into shades of gray
wanting nights of velvet lips, secret whispers
unrestrained passion, and,
for this brief moment,
all else disappeared –
I was yours,
you were mine
and nothing else mattered.
