Dear Dad- This I Write To You....
by Xx_mistik_xX

I wrote this for my dad on his birthday...tell me if it might have been worth it enough....

Dear dad,
This I write to you,
About all those things you put me through,
Dear dad,
Remember what you did for me,
When you saved my life cause I didn’t want to be.
Dear dad,
Remember all those things I said,
About hating you and getting smacked in the head.
Dear dad,
I want you to know the whole truth,
About what I did in my youth.
Dear dad,
Remember those drugs I bought?
I hate to say it but it wasn’t only pot.
Dear dad,
Remember how I ran away?
Because in that house I couldn’t stay.
Dear dad,
The abuse in my mothers place,
Is harder to take than my stepmoms’ smack in the face.
Dear dad,
I hope you know,
That with help from you I began to grow.

Dear dad,
I remember you sitting me down,
Telling me that sometimes I might feel as though about to drown,
But you told me to put my head up and hold it high,
And someday my wings will work and I could fly,
Dear dad,
I thank you for all of the above,
Dear dad,
With my heart I give you all my love.

'only for a moment'
by buttterflies

when the world's barbarity stands out to us
bloody words seeping through the news
clotted red overcoming the black & white print
our minds seize, stir, if only for a minute
the goosebumps on our arms rise in protest
if only for an instant, our lives revolt
wants to rear its shameful head and scream
our sense of justice recoils
and we are ready to spar for peace
to suffer for the brothers we never played cricket with
to suffer for the sisters whose hands we never felt
with the parents whose love never touched us
we protest, we pervade, if only for a few breaths
and then the momentous chill subsides
goosebumps fall back into their caves
our spines return to their curvature
and justice shrugs off its shoulders
the blood and betrayal we had forsaken
only for a moment, we felt what it was
to feel the splatter of blood upon our faces
to see the crashed bodies intermingled
in a charred mess that was once definable
we almost knew what it was, to be lost.

Both are so well written and deserving of the award...
And as I watch you in this light
I never realized your eyes were full of
So many colors.

CONGRATULATIONS MISTIK AND BUTTERFLIES..... !!!!!!!!!!! :computer:

...jeanne...
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…
