Poem of the Week: April 11, 2004

Post by heinzs » Sun Apr 11, 2004 2:43 pm

This week's winner is Thief of Dreams:
"a poem found beside the gun..."

The cold brass, comfort at last,
Rolls,
Me back inside my past.

Tired of wanting, tired of waiting,
Loading,
The sound of destruction,
Clicking.

The wheel turns slow,
A reverberating soft tick,
Tapping upon my memories,
The devil’s walking stick.

A tear falls,
Courage left to uncoil,
The willows weep forgiveness,
As leaves return to soil.

A calm hand holds sway,
As lips tremble to part,
Eyes close the day.

Metal touches tongue,
A lingering thought to pray,
Such heartache for the young,
I cannot be swayed to stay.

A soft cry of fear,
Slips from my lips,
Bite down upon the sound,
To quiet the eclipse.

Any second now,
Sweat beads my brow,
Squeeze a little harder,
I think it’s almos

On April 4th, 2004 at eight in the morning, this poem was found next to the body of what is beleived at this time to be a suicide. the victim was twenty five years old. The family of the victim are at this moment being questioned. The mother of the victim is in intensive care after attempting to slash her wrists with a kitchen knife upon finding her son dead this morning. Her condition is critical. Any one with knowledge as to this event or the psychosis of the victim is asked to contact the Laremount Police Department...
Yes this poem is a work of fiction, as are these added comments. But i want everyone of you who is even slightly thinking of suicide as a ways to an end to think about the people around you. Even the ones you may think dont care, because believe me, there are more people that care about you than you allow to understand and know. Thank you for reading...
