We brought paper to our mouths,
glass, wood, metal, plastic
bottles and drew in
a new way of being.
We lit up
at the mention of the possibility.
It's what we want-
our fingers sticky, our eyes liquid color displays.
I'll tell you anything you want to know
about the conspiracies in children's television programs,
about the right way to make an omellete.
No one's ever high enough
to stop us from feeling better,
enjoying a change in the pattern,
forgetting.
Breathing out the smoke
that lies on the outskirts of your mind,
clearing out the things that make you
suffocate.
We looked up at the stars in a new way,
saw our lives through a smile.
And we'll come down eventually,
but when you're low,
the only way to go
is up.
