Reflections

Post by Blaze » Fri Feb 09, 2007 9:20 pm

You find yourself in the gutter
In the floods of Katrina
In the glasses of the judge
As he reads your subpoena

In a reflection
You see your whole self everywhere
Unlike a footstep
That tells nothing about you

You find yourself in your drink
Yeah – that last drink that turned into five more
You find yourself in the toilet
Staring, staring and waiting
Until your face hits the floor

In a reflection
You see your whole self everywhere
Unlike a footstep
That tells nothing about you

You find yourself in your car
As you check your rearview mirror
In the speeding car’s windshield
As it draws nearer

In a reflection
You see your whole self everywhere
Unlike a footstep
That tells nothing about you

You find yourself in the eyes
Oh those eyes of bright blue
You see yourself in the sweat
Pouring off of both of you

Break the mirror
With the false reflection
And put it back together
In the form of Rachel.
"Being smart is a good thing... it's the dumbasses that make you think twice about it."

Many hats, many reflections...

I'll think of this poem a few hours from now ... as I look in the mirror deciding which reflection to wear....

You are not a false reflection, Rachel!

Dauntless the slug-horn to my lips I set,
And blew. ``Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came.''
