This made me smile :) I love the use of different sized fonts - it made it really come across

I gave up my watch when I retired.

The minor fact that the electro magnatism in my system kills watches wasn't the main reason ( by the way my record for stopping a watch was 15 minutes)

The real reason was that I decided that time would no longer control my life.

By the way don't you just hate digital watches - that time flashing out at me to the perfect second makes me feel obsessive/compulsive.

I think I will live on what Tony Hillerman calls indian time in his mysteries.
This above all to thine own self be true.

Graeme, you may enjoy this about the sundial .

In 200 BC Plautus wrote:

The gods confound the man who first found out
How to distinguish hours! Confound him, too,
Who in this place set up a sun-dial,
To cut and hack my days so wretchedly
Into small portions.
