When He Heard God Laugh

Post by BeeJay » Sun Aug 22, 2010 12:10 pm

When the poet of thoughts played politics
God was in opposition
The Universe was in session
The economy had been buried
The cards couldn’t be swiped
The sun had succumbed to winter's desire
The stars just blushed and disappeared
The printers ink had dried
The power was disabled
Not much of oil and even less of water
Was on boil
The waves troubled the tides
The moon was upset
Lovers no longer held hands
nature struck its claim…naturally
The bulls and the bears huddled
Solitude their daily diet
The punters bounced checks
Pink slips clogged the gutters
The help left their desks
The people fell behind their mortgages
And the poet quit politics
When he heard God laugh
And say, great poets are buried in sand;
Time had taken a break
The great sponsor had withdrawn
The gloom was deepening
And doom rose to bloom

I think the title to this is quite fitting. Although I do not believe in "God" persay I do believe that there is a higher power out there. I like the concept of the piece. I'm sure it deeply strikes those who are ore religious minded than me. Thanks for sharing Beejay.
