Tafari Makonnen (1892- ?)

Post by burdick » Sat May 12, 2012 3:32 am

At nineteen he became Ras Tafri,
At thirty-eight “Might of the Trinity”.
In 1936 he was a cipher…
Then, the conquering lion of Judah!

He died, I am told, in a parking lot
But then does any human truly die?
For all I know, he still enjoys his wat.
Who knows the location of Mount Zion?

While his new flower smells like Vicks to me
And the wise gnomes of Zurich claimed his gold,
I salute HIM, while there is still time , you see
For Africa, his vision to unfold
