Come to realize the worth of a soul,
Angelic, Pure, so true to the core.
The innocence of a child, the strength of a warrior
Never ending, never falling, and growing ever stronger.
One desire, one longing that so remained,
The wish inside, that stayed contained
To compensate all the struggle her children went through
To shower upon them; love, affection and contentment too
To see them, ever smiling, happy as they can be.
To thank them for what they coped, with utmost sanguinity
It was hard, she knew,
But she was unaided too
Her faith in Allah was all she had
And she held on to it
Never let go in times good or bad
& there wasn’t much she needed to make her glad
Watching us grow into good Muslims
Would make her beam with pride
Watching us study and obey our parents,
Would make her smile, ever so wide
A single visit, a call once a week
Was all we had to do for her
Too bad, we were so stressed up ourselves
That we would hardly bother.
We would think; why won’t she realize?
The problems we have with our lives
If only we had known
It is us that she sees and survives…
It was just a moment, a fraction of a second
That she left us soundlessly as it so happened
Our works go on, but now we know
It was her prayers that kept all going so.
She waits, still, now at a higher place
She sits on a high mountain with grace
Smiles down at us, now that we miss her
& here, we wait too, for the day
That’ll bring us all closer, together.
