GOD BLESS AMERICA

Post by Debbie » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:31 pm

This is the poem I wrote for America when the towers went down, and I felt like sharing it once again..as it this tragedy has been on my mind today as well as on the minds of countless others....

<center>(911) God Bless America (911)

Two towers of great strength one day
came tumbling to the ground,
after the dust was cleared away,
devastation is what they found.

While many were running away
from the inferno and flying debris,
Our dauntless heroes ran
straight into the buildings of, the W.T. C.

They never thought of themselves,
for the only thing they knew,
People were in danger,
and thus they pressed on through.

Horrifying screams and cries,
could be heard so loud and clear,
Striking the very hearts and souls,
of those who were standing near.

Amongst the twisted steel and glass,
rescuers young and old alike,
Relentlessly began that day,
what would be a most courageous plight.

Adrenaline was high,
knowing so many were buried beneath the rubble,
They were driven like mad men,
to rescue them on the double.

n two other places, and at different times,
in the very same country that day,
More horrifying sights were beheld,
leaving America in disarray.

As a bewildered world looked on,
in astonishment and with horror,
One couldn’t help but wonder
will there be more to come tomorrow.

America Under Attack,
is what the head lines read,
On lookers felt helpless,
and in shock just shook their heads.

Today mankind witnessed
with fear and unbelief,
Terrorists leaving a country like USA,
bewildered and full of grief.

Passenger flights were hijacked;
suicide terrorists took control,
Expecting they’d cause chaos
with each revolting blow.

The enemy believed they’d weaken
the heart of this great nation,
And their cowardly actions would cause
hopelessness and desperation.

I’m honored to announce to the enemy,
though you thought you were intelligent and coy,
Your strategy has FAILED,
this country’s strength you could not destroy.

You may have thought your hideous crime,
was well planned and so clever,
But the people were braver than you,
and have now become stronger than ever.

Yes the buildings crumbled,
but the country’s foundation is sound,
They live in a Democratic country,
where freedom still abounds.

Though grief stricken because of the loss
of innocent lives that day,
They have a greater strength within
which you couldn’t take away.

People around the world,
across the sea and over land,
Have now united in prayer,
and also are lending a helping hand.

The list is far too long to mention,
on those who’ve answered the wake up call,
When they saw the towers of financial strength
finally tumble and fall.

After witnessing all I have,
these past heart wrenching days,
Though the struggle seems so great I know
God will have the last say.

Americans are learning today;
their grief is bringing them closer together,
They’ve found strength in one another,
now it’s the enemies’ turn to suffer.

They’ll receive their just reward,
because they cannot hide from God,
This crime of terrorism and murder will be handled,
with His correctional rod.

They’ll not go unpunished;
this Nation will remain strong,
Justice will prevail;
for those who’ve done this senseless wrong.

So God please bless America,
let the flags of freedom continue to fly,
Comfort those who’ve witnessed
friends and loved ones die.

Keep your arms of strength and love,
around each broken hearted soul today,
And if there are others who remain alive
send rescuers their way.

Please allow each one to be accounted for,
so families may put them to rest,
Give courage to all those
who are going through this appalling test.

When the clouds of despair have dissipated,
and the sun comes shining through,
I pray with all of my heart dear Lord,
every one will remember you.

It was in our darkest hours;
we called on you in prayer,
And we wouldn’t have been comforted
if you had not been there.

You, are our tower of great strength,
which will never tumble and fall,
Your arms and ears are open,
to everyone whether big or small.

It doesn’t matter what color of skin,
nor what race or creed,
When they call upon you Lord,
you’ll meet their every need.

And though the necessities are so great,
I know you will comply,
To all of their prayers and requests,
and comfort those who cry.

We mustn’t put our trust in,
what we think we’re able to do,
It’s what you can do through us,
if we put our trust in you.

So thank you dear Lord,
for hearing my every hearts plea,
And thank you for Blessing America,
a country strong and free.

.

I agree ... a moving tribute.
We mustn’t put our trust in,
what we think we’re able to do,
It’s what you can do through us,
if we put our trust in you.
My favorite line.

So much courage by so many we may never know are firmly embedded in the mainstream of human consciousness because you too remember. May such thought bloom in many gardens. ______BeeJay
