A Strong Southern Woman (For Leysa)

A Strong Southern Woman (For Leysa)

She's a strong woman...
Wired by
the old traditions
of the South.
Despite confusing definitions
from her children
and ex-spouse

Yet she'll persevere
with somber smiles
when conditions
change at will,
and accept new admonitions
swallowed hard
like a bitter pills

She's a strong woman...
Facing all
her own suspicions
late at night
Recounted each in repetition
till her memory
gets it right

Then she'll disappear,
as dreams embrace
bold transmissions
from her soul,
before beginning
her transition from
a loss she can't control

Bags, how kind of you to write a tribute to me. Wow.

I keep being told that I am strong. I guess that might be true, but mostly I am simply determined. I feel I have already faced down the most difficult part of my life-change, and now I'm "determined" to be happy. Life is still good ... I have great friends (you included!), a job I love, my health, and a family that is, well, "kick ass great!"

I don't think my smiles are somber, though, Bags. They still come from my heart. And despite what my heart has been through, it is still intact, overflowing in fact.

However, anytime you want to write about me, please do so. I am sooooooooooooo flattered (and I am waving my fan and sipping my mint julep as I write this ...LOL)

That would be lovely,.... I'd really enjoy that. Unfortunatly, I don't know when that could occur, but I'll definitly put it on my to do list. Thanks
