Aragorn's Star

Post by ehli'schild » Sun Nov 23, 2003 5:39 pm

Disclaimer: Obviously I do not own this name. I am writing both about the character and the man who plays him. 1st one of these I've done; sorry if it doesn't cut it. Would appreciate any comments, people... thx.

Note: You know that song with the line, "sugar sugar how'd you get so fly..."? try to think this poem in that rythm. Its what insprired the style.
(I promise I'm not 12 yrs old!)

Aragorn’s Star

I. Calm, deadly with healer’s hands
The night watch he stands
On the endless rolling lands
Under Aragorn’s Star

Bright green and white
Long awaited birthright
Spreading reign of light
Under Aragorn’s Star

Two races’ heir
A blend of peoples fair
Rising through the air
Is Aragorn’s Star

Passed down, lineage of man
Raised by the Elven hand
Called different names in every land
He’s Aragorn’s Star

The first and last in one
Three thousand years has not undone
Draw nigh, moon and sun
To Aragorn’s Star

II. Myriad skills to hone
Sixty years before the throne
Lost soul drags itself back home
Holding Aragorn’s Star

All his long life
Fought unending black strife
With a sword, bow, and knife
Did Aragorn’s Star

In the end the war was won
In shadow, unmaking of the One
Waiting, watching in the dun
was Aragorn’s Star

They look back from the helm
Passing to the blessed realm
The heavy mantle’d overwhelm
All but Aragorn’s Star

III. Not old, not young, closer than kin
A warrior lived in another’s skin
Till “that’s a wrap” and the spotlights dim
His only name is Aragorn’s Star

That time is over; the sense of it has gone
Move on, go on; work is never done.
An artist, a father, a poet in one
Always, ever burning on as Aragorn’s Star

I absolutely loved this poem about one of the most honorable, dare i say sexiest, characters ever written. Tolkien would be proud. rae ]

Pam,

I don't know the song or the lyrics that you mentioned .... but I really felt that this definately had a nice rhythm and flow...Aragon is a wonderful charater to write about.... and might i add, fantasize about.... I'd love to hear this put to music...

jeanne
... and his words purge up and outward,
expelled and onward through desert dust swallowed,
sands he says that gorge on simple sensibilities.
And, now he spits fragments, grit, extended vowels and elongated syllables
over cracked lips. Their sounds fall
piling round his boots…

I love it, Pam!!! :) Funny, how I was inspired to write of Tolkien tonight, saw a blurb on Entertainment Tonight, Jerry and the girls were at the corrals, I penned it with such a blast of longing...at times, I wish I were there, and not here... Not here, with my kids... But, then, after I posted it at AD, Kayla came home, I excitedly showed her the poem, she's just been hooked into reading by 'Legolas's' character, and we happily argued names and places, until I told Mariah her bedthirty was at 8:30!?!? Ha, love when my mind spins and skips, such a high...as is Tolkien's world. A worthy tribute, Pam, to a Man of heart and honor. You deserve such... I am lucky to have one. Love you, Ravished Lady! :)
