**Poetry Mash (Parody)** Forum Award 10/30/05
Forum Award Winner: October 30, 2005
Poetry Mash
I was working on a poem late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For the poets of old began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise
(They did the mash) They did the dead poets mash
(The poets mash) It was a poetry bash
(They did the mash) It caught on in a flash
(They did the mash) They did the dead poets mash
In my room where Ginsberg howls like a beast
To the parlor where Keats and Percy Shelley feast
The Poets all came in ghostly repose
To hear a rap from Longfellow
(They did the mash) They did the dead poets mash
(The poets mash) It was a poetry bash
(They did the mash) It caught on in a flash
(They did the mash) They did the dead poets mash
The Brownings were having fun, rhyming with Thich Naht Hahn
The guests included Shakespeare, Bob Marley and his son
The scene was rockin', all were digging the sound
Beowulf on chains, backed by Ezra Pound
The poets lauerate were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "Sonnet # Five"
(They played the mash) They played the dead poets mash
(The poets mash) It was a poetry bash
(They played the mash) It caught on in a flash
(They played the mash) They played the dead poets mash
Out from his coffin, Edgar's voice did ring
Seems he was thirsty for just one thing
He opened the cask of Amontillado
And said, "Glad I'm here for one last fling"
(It's now the mash) It's now the dead poets mash
(The Poets mash) And it's a poetry bash
(It's now the mash) It's caught on in a flash
(It's now the mash) It's now the dead poet's mash
Now everything's cool, Edgars a part of the band
And the 'dead poets mash' is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them ET sent you
(Then you can mash) Then you can poetry mash
(The Poetry mash) Join the poetry bash
(Then you can mash) You'll catch on in a flash
(Then you can mash) Then you can poetry mash
A-woooooooooooo, Poetry Mash, A-wooooooooooooo...
Happy Halloween From ET

Sometimes I wonder if your mother dropped you on your head when you were a child. Then I remember you're a hotwalker. Now I realize the horses have done this to you. Way cool, Dennis. It kept the flow of the song(and don't ask how I know it. I'll just say my parents are strange just like me, and I've heard a wide variety of music in my life) throughout.

Wonder no more Jim, as she did and often made other adjustments to my adolescent pate with a cuff now and then to remind me "not to be so smart" usually followed by another with a "smarten up". I was confused and never learned to play with others. Then she sold me to a dept store as a child mannequin and everybody called me a "dummy".negatvone wrote:Sometimes I wonder if your mother dropped you on your head when you were a child. I but digress into fond nostalgia and thank you for your reply, although ma told me never to talk to strangers.

LOL... Actually I have a cousin named "Bubba".
(and one named Moe and one named Curly)
Penniless, yes, but I was stone sober the night I died. The first night in a month and a half.
