In a Nutshell

Post by bags123 » Mon Jul 25, 2005 8:30 am

In a Nut Shell

When I'm in this kind of a mood
I try to write poetic free verse,
but I often feel like
I'm raping a piece of paper
with my pen, instead of creating
anything worthwhile.
Constantly, I fight,
just to maintain control,
and abstain from rhyming
Meter can become addictive
The rhapsody of thoughts confusions,
associated with delusions
Rotating optical illusions.
Never ending in conclusions,

and that's kind of how I feel
about free verse
in a nutshell...
I prefer to keep an open mind,....but not so much that my brains fall out.- Carl Sagan
Your brain is like an umbrella. It only works when it's open- Someone Smart

"No, this is me in a nutshell...
Look at the size of this giant
nutshell...
How do I get out of this nutshell..."

I can't believe you watched Dragnet! You're too young to remember that show. Oh yeah,.... forgot for a moment. You're in Arkansas right?

Ha Ha...when I was a kid nick at nite was my best friend...I loved Get Smart, Dragnet, The Odd Couple, I love lucy, all those old shows...I've seen em, a few times. Dragnet taught me that LSD stood for Lysergicaciddiathlamide(sp?). I was the only 9 year old that knew that

Bags, I've had a read through your latest posts in the humour section. Your humour always makes me laugh, but this is my favourite of your recent poems.

Not outright hilarious but it gave me a wry smile.

The bit about feeling as if you are raping a piece of paper with your pen was inspired. Not in a humorous way - just inspired.

Good write

Rob
