Part One

Summer's Discontent

Blue Monday, Blue Monday, I've waited for you
familiar sense of sadness brings solace
soothes the senses, warms the heart, the soul
take me back, so far back, adjust this fate

Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light
the fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul
wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought
add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

THE EARTH THE SON and THE MOON
____________________________________

Rocky Coast of Maine

Summoned memories of minds eye
time of youthful innocence
dancing free spirits in
open starlit concert filled air

Quad, Ivor Wynn stadium
Dark Side, Wish You Were Here
smell of the night air
seventies, time of inner peace

You can't get there from here
as young seize the moments
lock away the memories
tired, lonely, riddled in pain

Surfing minds eye, lucky one day
finding visions of grandeur
or the rocky coast of Maine
can't get that from here.

THE EARTH THE SON and The MOON

Ambiance

Ambient sensual sound fills the air
wood covered in satin soothes the skin
a crackling fire dances for warmth
and a wonderful aroma fills the air
art displayed, soothes the mind so well
bottle of Bordeaux, Ah yes 1995
Escargot bourguinone pre Veal Scampi
Cream Gelato with white truffles
as a crescendo tantalizes the palate

Sir! Sir! Excuse Me! Sir!
Your holding up the Line
I said! Do You Want Fries With That?

Analog Man

Tools extensions of the mind, by design
bringing ones thought to fruition
mastered many along my way, I do say
they've been the tools of my trade
treated with much respect, never neglect
many for working in wood, now antiques
the trade my Grand Father loved to keep
the need to know just master the tool
the rest of it will just follow you

Now I've come to a great divide
a tool for writing always admired a pen
but now I sit with this magical shit
ultimate personification of obsolescence
Yeah! it makes me feel like a Nit Wit
still kind of torn about the chip
it's faster now than it's ever been
as a tool will never earn the same respect
maybe I should continue to explain

Remember well, my early musical days, Leo Fender-
came out with solid state 68 for us to play
laughed, sent it on it's merry way, still today
analog has no parity, not even the Hybrids
can satisfy the warmth of analog with tubes
mega speed and precision with in the chip
planned obsolescence makes it quick
better has not been changed one bit
282, Pentium Four they could skip that bit
multi media integration thats some cool shit
I'm the guy that wired your house for it.

Our homes with unattached wires in every room
a Cat5 or two, Fiber Optic and a couple Rg-6,
lets go wireless I hear Radio Shack cry, as-
we wait for these executives to get over it
the PC is nothing but a sophisticated telephone
why are they reinventing the TV set
a ship of fools as I've run out to buy, incurred
large inventory of obsolete audio video gear
just wondering would any one like to buy a CDI
how bout a CDV, BETA, Come on, this is, nevermind.

Nailed (it)

Can I buy it
or apply it
maybe even fly it
I want to know it
so I can sow it
I think it
I nailed (it)
it has to be
my love.

Threshold of Pain

Poets living for Poets in the days of
deep blue cracked sky in dark day light
as balance of destiny continues its tilt
may honesty take hold to be our guide
this languid keyboard, its cold silence
lays half a life story on Page's of print

A need for percussion my thoughts are now drained
may indeed die before old, reality sets the beat
howling the words my fingers contine to grow cold
I now summon the threshold of pain, turn it up
Poets living for poets in the days of
deep blue cracked sky in dark of night.

A Poet?

Would dare I say
that I write poetry
why should I care?
for what I write
as long as I do dare
is it not the word
communicating on life
most important as to
meter and rhyme
must say I.

Mr. Perfect and his Angel Mary

In search of excellence
I've instilled a silly game
find fault with Mr. Perfect
those around me now love to play

Been a lot of work for one angel
only I can see it as the truth
held my hand to the gates of hell
returned me before I passed through

As a child with a fever I can recall
turning the corner to climb the stairs
there you were at the top looking down
as I gasped and turned away, you had gone

Feel your comforting presence once again
more suttle communication you now attend
a missing screw that suddenly reappeared
unexplained ring of a doorbell, no one near

Trust in your judgement each and every day
if it's time to get grown over by a tree
or ashes blown off White Face, then let it be
find fault with Mr. Perfect, no fun for me

I'd rather stick around for one great write
or play guitar on stage for one glorious night
all I hope is that, when the time is right
you'll be there again at the top of the stairs.

Medicine Man

Life is for the living
ceased some time a go
dreams traded for reality
died some time a go
machines messing with eternity
dying some time ago
medicine man taunting destiny.

WHY

Humankind duels with mother nature for the final say
my ganglionic nerves tattered numb with despair
young poet speaks of her hunger, my heart cries why
the temperature is rising in more ways than one

Portion of Lake Erie has now died, supports life no more
a hard pill to swallow, humankinds ego ever so strong
newsman still worries who'll toss the next bomb
must not let Gaia sing the last song

It's her house we've not been here that long
believe it all started with a big puff of dust
bacteria and blue green algae the oldest and wisest
residents to date, forty six hundred million years

If anything makes the next period, my monies on bacteria
even blue green algae makes for a pretty poor bet
seems to me there is a problem with the Sun
this thing they scoff at called global warming it's no fun.

The Owl

Margo sang of an Owl
last night that wise Owl
was out side my window

As progressive becomes passe
strong feeling, that very soon
I also will be that way.
_______________________

Fatal Optimism Abounds ( entirely rewritten)

I share my fears , they're not for me
as bodies of the brave, lye dead on the ground
young lives cut short, faces frozen in time
the shuttle is redied, as we lay sleeping

These tears are not shed for me, you see
sole surviving son of my family tree
lived a full life with little regret
I'll take my families pride and history with me

So I bow before World leaders, nothing to loose
I beg of you, bring your greedy minds together
you can change this fate, it's never to late
Nostradamus is not to have the last word

No matter what religion you've chosen to follow
your Gods mission could not be so hollow
must be some worldly secret hidden agenda
your actions speak much louder than words

Intelligent minds ignorent and obsessed with greed
price we pay for the S U V, disguised as freedom
so choose to stick your heads in the sand
while our young fight and die in a forign land

It's a difficult question I've proposed for we
if we got rid of the S U V, fatal optimism abounds
turned to old to fight, so I,ve been told
pen mighty as the sword, only time will tell.

Thankyou Heinzs, You have been so generous with your time spent on my behalf. I feel like such a nit wit when it comes to managing my work. Take Care my Friend
Take me back, so far back, adjust this fate. Afeared lately of pen, in abscence of light. The fear I might stumble upon a plagiarized soul. Wipe this dark slate clean, regain my thought. Add the words that rekindle my depth of soul.

Thank You Debbie, I think. That "style all your own" always throws me a bit.

Maybe I shouldn't say style all your own but that everyone has thought in the heart which are expressed in different lightness.. and you express your different than many of the poems I've read in here..
the heart has so many methods of relating to different situations, and our thoughts soak them up in various ways..
Take care..

MJPease wrote:Moon turned to Sun
Moon smiled and backed away
Earth nodded in total agreement
Sun warmed the Earth with great expectations

Earths heart began to warm
Polar caps slowly began to melt
Rivers rose to meet Sea
Sea gave birth to intelligent life

Balance of nature was pure
Dinosaur began to roam Earth
Heaven smiled for a while
Moon turned into Sun

Fire rained down on Earth
Earth cried and succumbed to fever
Volcanoes erupted simultaneously
Ash rose into space blocking Sun

Intelligent life sought refuge in Sea
Earths fever began to break into a chill
Earth plunged into a deep freeze
Mountains of expanding ice split crust

Moon turned to Sun
Moon smiled and then backed away
Earth nodded in total agreement
Sun warmed Earth with great expectations
