Leaves

The wind blows so hard
Through the old oak tree
It tickles its branches
Causing it to lose its leaves

The leaves ride with the wind
To a valley so far
And land upon a fox
Upon his nose, a scar

That scar he got from battle
From a vicious hound
That hound is now in his master's lap
Safe and sound

The master had gotten his hound
From the old house next door
Where once lived a beautiful young girl
That once owned a small store

In that store she sold many things
Like clothing and food
And seeds and grain
And even a little bird that cooed

Once when the wind blew strong
A young man walked into the store
He asked for a single seed
Nothing more

He took the small seed
That's all he ever took
But he always came back
For he loved the young girl's looks

One day she was pierced through her heart
By a metal so cold
It froze her breath
And not another word was ever to be told

The young man was heart broken
And with the seed in hand
Planted it in the ground
Where she had her last stand

The young man grew old
And then he was young no more
But he watered the seed
That he had gotten from the store

The seed grew into an oak
And it grew branches so long
It let the wind blow through
And carried the bird's song

The same tree did its leaves land upon a fox
That had been hurt by a hound
That is in his owner's lap
Safe and sound

That hound had been given by a friend
Who's daughter owned a store
Where a man once loved her
But now she was there no more.

The person I am

The person I am
Is the person you're not
Yet that's the reason
That you and I fought

We fought against difference
A simple mistake
But here it is before us
The fight that you and I make

It's wrong, we know
To hate a new thing
But we stare into each other's eyes
And we let our words sting

Maybe we shouldn't worry about who
we are
You're just you, and I'm just me
But maybe, just maybe,
We should worry about who we'll be.

Wish Upon A Star

Post by Blaze » Mon Mar 03, 2003 8:39 am

Wish Upon A Star

"Wish upon a star," He said
So wish upon a star she did
"No, no! Not that one!" He cried
"Find your own in the starry sky!"

She rested her elbow upon the windowsill
And gazed into the night so still
She wanted a star that neither flickered nor
changed
But one that would always be the same

She never found one that stayed the
norm
So she sat and gazed until the morn
She saw the sun and cried, "What a
star!"
"For sure that is the best one by far!"

It was then she realized that she had no
wish
For you couldn't wish upon a star with
no wish
She sat there, depressed and sad
For she couldn't think of one and was a
bit mad

She still hadn't thought of one by noon
She was getting worried for her star was
leaving soon
After a while when the sun was about to
set
She thought of one just as the sea and
sun met

She wished for everyone's wishes to
come true
For she only knew
She had found the wishing star-
The best one by far.

The Two

Post by Blaze » Mon Mar 03, 2003 7:55 pm

The Two

The cards in the stack
Had diamonds on their back
Blue and white lines
And creases showing their times

He looked at me and shook his head
"Don't worry about him,"He said
He took the stack in hand
And took off the rubber band.

He said, "Look, this is you."
Holding up a small two.
He gave me the rest
And said, "Choose the best."

I looked through all of them
And yet there was no perfect "him"
So I gave them back
And told him to look through the stack

So he paired off each card
And looked at the last one real hard
He said, "I know who this one must be."
"This one is me."
And the two and two were paired forevermore.

Why The Wind Stays

Post by Blaze » Tue Mar 04, 2003 10:48 am

Why The Wind Stays

This Peice is sorta like an explaining thing... a myth... but it's still a poem

The wind cries through the trees
A song not written down
It carries the bird's song
A unique but beautiful sound

It cries to the heavens,
"Let me in!"
But it can only push them along
For even the wind has sinned.

"You have sinned by letting tornadoes
rip the skies," says God
"You bring rain to the ground;
And you scare small children at night
Making the dreadful sound."

So the wind goes down
And it cried to hell below
"I have sinned against the heavens;
I am dreadful and low,
They won't let me in there
So for sure you'll let me in,
O Evil of Day
For I have sinned."

But even Satan couldn't let him in
"You'll blow all of the hellish fire
And burn up the entire world
And there would be no more sinners or
liars."

So the wind stays where it is
In between the two places it wants to
go
It can't go to heaven above
Or to hell below
So it sings through the trees
And steals their leaves
And it ripples the water
And it makes statues tip and totter
But it can't go anywhere else.

Am I nobody If Somebody??

Post by Blaze » Wed Mar 05, 2003 7:33 am

Am I nobody If Somebody??

If I'm nobody…
Am I somebody?
For if I'm nobody
That means I'm something
I could be anything
So then am I somebody?
Or am I nobody?
Or am I perfect if I'm nobody…
Cause nobody's perfect?
But then if I'm nobody
Making me somebody
Then am I perfect?

Loneliness

Post by Blaze » Fri Mar 07, 2003 11:19 pm

Loneliness

Loneliness is ripping my soul
Though there are people surrounding me
And friends crowding me
They can’t see how I feel

For I am part of everyone
Yet not everyone’s a part of me
They talk to me about their life
And I listen as quiet as can be

They see me as a friend
Yet I’m not part
Of a group, stereotype, I’m just me
And they just don’t see
That just being you
Can bring out the real inside your lying heart
And it just tears me apart

I’ll tell you a new word
You’ll remember the word, but not the meaning.
The word is useless now.
I'll tell you I'll be there
You remember me, but not my meaning.
I'm useless now.

Don't Teach Me That (Comments Please)

Post by Blaze » Sat Mar 08, 2003 12:33 am

Don't Teach Me That (Comments Please)

You can’t teach me how to fall
Without teaching me how to stand
You can’t teach me how to jump
Without teaching me how to land

You can’t teach me how to sing
Without teaching me the words
You can’t teach me how to listen
Without being heard

You can’t teach me how to fly
With broken wings
You can’t teach me how to give
When I have nothing to bring

You can’t teach me how to swallow
Without teaching me how to chew
You can’t teach me how to be me
Without you being you

You can’t teach me how to sail
Without a boat
You can’t teach me how to swim
When I can’t even float

You can’t teach me how to walk
Without teaching me how to crawl
You can't teach me how to paint
Without teaching me how to draw

You can’t teach me how to dance
Without showing me the moves
You can’t teach me how to find
When I have nothing to lose

You can’t teach me how to speak my mind
When I already know how to preach
So just don’t teach me anything at all
Until you’re taught how to teach.

Fall To Your Knees (Comments Please)

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 09, 2003 4:39 pm

Fall To Your Knees (Comments Please)

You have affected me
And affected my friends
You will always affect us
Until the end

My friend fainted in class one day
And what did everyone else do?
They gathered in a circle
And prayed for her, to you.

My friend sought me to talk to her
And she said to me,
“Help me please, I don’t know what to do.”
I said to her, “Fall to your knees.
For God is the way
The truth
The light
Once you find Him
He’ll never leave your sight.”

Two great structures
Were killed by flying machines
Smoke covered the whole city
And dust was everywhere to be seen

The next day at school
When announcements were made
They asked for a quiet moment
And so we prayed.

My friend sought me to talk to her
And she said to me,
“Help me please, I don’t know what to do.”
I said to her, “Fall to your knees.
For God is the way
The truth
The light
Once you find Him
He’ll never leave your sight.”

We all change during the summer
And so that usually when we come back to school
We are stereotyped once more
The Dorks, in Between, and Cool.

But this year was different
Because we changed in a different way
We became closer to You
And we became closer to each other everyday

My friend sought me to talk to her
And she said to me,
“Help me please, I don’t know what to do.”
I said to her, “Fall to your knees.
For God is the way
The truth
The light
Once you find Him
He’ll never leave your sight.”

I became the manager of our football team
The first team in fourteen years
But a situation happened
That brought me to tears

On the way back from a game
On a cold October night
The player in the seat next to me
Tried to keep something away from my sight

I asked him what it was
And he could hide it no more
I couldn’t hear what he said
But what he meant, I was sure

Drugs kill
And friends die
I had to tell
I couldn’t lie

I sought my friend
She understood me
I said to her, “Help me, I don’t know what to do.”
She said, “Fall to your knees.
For God is the way
The truth
The light
Once you find Him
He’ll never leave your sight.”

Poetry

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 09, 2003 6:21 pm

Poetry

Poetry is a beat
A rythme
A sound
A song not written down
You gotta be expressive
innovative
creative
To make it live
You gotta make it real
To make you feel
The painting peel
And showing what's underneath it all
Don't take the fall
Hear the call
And stand up tall
And write how it is
Like a first kiss
A near miss
It's just like this
Be optimistic
Be pessimistic
Be enthusiastic
Be extraordinary
Be ordinary
Let the sound carry
But be YOU.

The Train

Post by Blaze » Wed Mar 12, 2003 1:38 pm

The Train

Dark so still
Nothing breaking your silence
You creep through the radiance
Until you become night

Then screams rape the silence
And the dark becomes pregnant with sound
You give birth to a train
Rattling the pictures upon my wall

It wakes me up from my yawning slumber
And I lay half asleep
With my eyes shut
And wishing my ears could too

Then it leaves as quickly as it came
Like a sword going through the stomach and coming out of the back
Yet it keeps on stabbing
With it's constant roar as it follows it's prey's tracks

Can't be that far

Post by Blaze » Fri Mar 14, 2003 3:10 pm

Can't be that far

Sitting by the wall
Afraid that you’re going to fall
If you decide to take that chance
And get out on the floor and dance

Your hair is tight in a bun
Your skin has never seen the sun
You are afraid to let go
Of the only world that you know

You have a wonderful voice
But you just can’t make that choice
Of whether to show people what you can do
You just don’t want to be you

Your sitting in the dark
On the bench in the park
Thinking what are you doing there
And you just start not to care

You believe that you can’t do anything
And everyone else can do everything
You find no reason to live
If you have nothing to give

A girl walks by that’s from your school
She won’t notice you, she’s too cool
But she sees your tears and heart
And sees how you are broken and apart

So she stops and sits on the bench
And from her you begin to inch
But she doesn’t say anything at first
She knows how much it hurts

She stares at the tree in front of her
A darkened and lonely fir
After thinking for a while
She looked at you and smiled

“Just let down your hair
And let it hang there
Take that daring chance
And don’t fall when you dance

Sing your favorite song
All daylong
Let people stare
And just don’t care

Find where you are
You can’t be that far
You are the only thing that you can’t find
But you’re really right there, right in your mind.”

She got up and left you staring
She only looked back once, eyes happy and caring
This girl you never knew
Just helped you become - you.

Judging To Quickly (LONG)

Post by Blaze » Fri Mar 14, 2003 10:34 pm

Judging To Quickly (LONG)

There’s a worship service where I live
Called 6:22 on every Friday night
Where teenagers and just people come
To search for the way, the truth, and the light.

I arrived late one Friday evening
And hurried to sit beside my friend
On the carpeted floor
Just as prayer was about to end

“Are there any new people tonight?” Asked Matthew
And a boy beside another one of my friends raised his hand
“Only one tonight? Did you come with someone?” He asked once more.
“I came with my sister, Karen.”

I knew Karen; she was in the grade below me
She lived on my best friend’s street
And I knew that she had two brothers
But of them I thought I’d never meet

I knew that they didn’t have the cleanest records
But of Bruce, the one that was there, didn’t seem that bad
He seemed pretty old to be in high school though
Maybe he wasn’t, maybe he already had

He was dressed in all black
Even with a black duct tape bracelet around his wrist
His hair hung down to just above his ears
And his eyes were full of mist

He had a cross necklace on
I had to give him credit for that
And it was quite normal
The way he sat

The music started
And we all started dancing and singing
For the love of God
And the love he was bringing

I took my eyes off of him
To pay attention to God
But my mind kept drifting back to him
Which was really quite odd

So finally I sat down
And with my head on my knees
I watched him rock his head up and down
Just in time to the beat

Maybe he was a Christian
And I was just judging him wrong
So I looked at his appearance and not his heart
The music and not the song

So came a time of silence
When we listened to preacher
He taught us about being worthy or not
He was a really good teacher

Someone brought three bowls to the front
And the pastor said, “If you feel unworthy, come cleanse yourself.”
I got up and sat before the bowls filled with water
I couldn’t lie how I felt, not even to myself.

I looked up really quick
Just a quick look around
And there was Bruce still rocking to the beat
So caught up in the sound

God told us to not put any other gods before him
Well, there’s no one else to believe in now is there?
At least that’s what we think
But there are other gods here

It may not be an actual “god” so to speak
But a love for something
Like music, and passion
And the love someone else brings

I wondered if maybe I thought wrong once again
And Bruce was only here for the show
Because surely everyone needed to be cleansed
No matter how high or low

But I didn’t think of that for long for it was my turn
After I washed my hands
I returned to my seat on the floor
And worshipped God while following the band

Worship time ended and with a new heart in my soul
And the vacuum started to make it’s way through the bare floor
So everyone hurried out of the room
And went outside to stand by the door

I watched for my dad while talking to my friends at the same time
Becca and I were talking to Bruce
While Abbey and Karen
Were on the loose

I was starting to get to know him
And now that I was a little closer
He did have that younger look
Of a worn out high schooler

Karen came up to us and I looked at her wrist
There too was a bracelet of duct tape, just like her brother
That one thing connecting them
To show that they do love each other

So maybe he doesn’t have problems
And maybe he isn’t that bad at all
Maybe he just turned around at the wrong time
And just took a bad fall

But I’ll never know
Whether he was singing just to sing
Or if he was really singing to God
Our wonderful king

Because I just didn’t get the chance
To really talk to him
But I do know this
I’ll never judge so quickly again.

Ready For More

Post by Blaze » Sat Mar 15, 2003 6:49 pm

Ready For More

His sweet tongue
And his sweet lips
The touch of his hand
O do I miss

The way that we kissed
Extraordinary and incredible
Passionate and amazing
Stirring and unfeasible

His tongue making its way through my mouth
And mine through his
This can only be the best thing
Only this

No words can describe
The way that love intertwined
With our every day lives
His and mine

His pure eyes
And his pure heart
Forever in my mind
Now that we’re apart

But I’m ready for more

P.S. The description for general poetry says anything that you'd read to you 12-year-old daughter... well, I am a 12-year-old daughter so I didn't know where to put it besides here

Her

I open my door slowly
Wishing it wouldn't creak so loud
I look at the area in front of the door
4:15AM and her shoes are still there
I creep back inside my room and stay
Dear crying night, I see your drops on the lake but I don't hear your music
Because I'm listening to my own inside my heart
Don't take away my father, dear crying night
But wash away the pain with your tears.
