Crying Night (comments appreciated)

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 16, 2003 3:34 am

Crying Night (comments appreciated)

It was raining tonight after I got offline, and I was itching to take a pencil in hand and write poems about the crying night... here are just a few...

---

Teardrops on the windowsill
I've left my window open
I rise from my bed and close it
And watch you, dear crying night

Flooding the red roses with blue despair
Until the petals fall off, one by one
Killed by your tears

Filling the river with agony
Until it can hold no more
Overflowed by your tears

Dear crying night, why do these tears drop from the sky?
For sure nothing can be that bad or that sad
To wake us from our sleep
Unless it was us who caused your pain
Dear crying night, I pity you.

---

There's no moonlit smile in the sky tonight
Just teardrops
Smile once again, dear night
And show your bright freckles

---

Tears fall from the sky
I wonder why
Don't be sad, dear night
Everything will be alright

But it continues to rain
And I curse whoever's caused its pain
But perhaps it was yourself, dear Rachel Lee
Then I just cursed me

Eyebrows

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 16, 2003 8:35 am

Eyebrows

Whenever I meet a new person
Or see a picture of one
I always look at their eyebrows first
For their eyebrows can explain the way they are

If their eyebrows are plucked slightly but not much
They just want to look decent, but not fancy
If they are plucked to a thin line
They have low self-esteem
If they are drawn
They have no self-respect

If they haven’t plucked them
But they are straight
They want to pluck them so bad
But their parents won’t let them
If they haven’t plucked them
And they aren’t straight, but not messy
They like the way they are
If they are completely messy
Then they don’t care about themselves at all

Eyebrows can tell a lot about you
You may not even realize it
But they really do.

Bent Eyelashes

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 16, 2003 12:53 pm

Bent Eyelashes

Tweezers in hand
I stare at the person in the mirror
Just woken up
With bent eyelashes
No curling things, tweezers will have to do
The girl in the mirror
With long blonde hair
Tries to straighten her eyelashes
No good
Finds the one eyelash bending awkwardly and –
Pluck
Finds another one
Pluck
Maybe I should stop here
But I can’t
I’m mad
At myself
Boys always like my best friends
Pluck
And yet they always tell me
I straighten one of the eyelashes with my finger

Why don’t boys like me? I ask my friends.
Eyelashes are getting thin; I go to my eyebrows
Because they don’t see you as a girlfriend or someone to love
Just someone to hold on to and a best friend
Pluck
I need to “flirt” more
Pluck
Pluck
Flirting? Hah.
Eyebrows were already plucked yesterday, not much to do up there.
Flirting.
How? I don’t like flirting with boys I don’t like
And yet I do.
I take my toothbrush and squirt too much toothpaste on it. Some of it goes into the drain.
Flirting.
I’ve been kissed…
Why is it so hard for me to just “flirt”?
My gum starts to bleed and I take the toothbrush out and spit.
Blood and spit fill the sink.
Flirting.
I take my hairbrush and I brush my hair
How should I flirt?
Brush
Should I have my “own” way of flirting?
I threw my arms up at “own” to emphasize. The brush knocks into my lamp.
Or maybe is it not the flirting?
I know I’m not the prettiest girl at school, but I’m not the ugliest.
It has to be the flirting.
Brush
Hair starts falling to the ground. I brushed too hard.
Flirting.
But why should I?

Blue Hope

Post by Blaze » Sun Mar 16, 2003 3:29 pm

Blue Hope

Dark clouds blowing past
Visible between the darkening trees
Wind whips the pinecones
And make them cry for mercy on the ground

Raindrops pelt dear mother earth
And thunder makes her hold her ears
Budding roses fill with water
Until the petals fall

Yet there's one thing different
That makes us hope for a better day
Hope for a better future
Just a single strip of blue sky peeks through to let us know that it's still there

Paint A Picture

Post by Blaze » Mon Mar 17, 2003 6:27 am

Paint A Picture

You sit in the backyard
In front of the old, old tree
Showing its time with cracks and bumps
That has caterpillars covering it

You find a paintbrush
And as I watch, you paint a picture

You saw me watching
And took my hand
You showed me how to paint
Three fruits and a vase

And us together,
We painted a picture

The day you died
With tears down my face
I took a paintbrush in hand
And stared at the canvas

And as you watched,
I painted a picture.

----
In tribute to my Nana

Break From Life

Post by Blaze » Mon Mar 17, 2003 10:04 am

Break From Life

Sitting on a bench
Staring into the water
Taking a break from running
Taking a break from life
Watching the ducks cackle at each other
Like a daughter and her mother
Watching the turtles lolling about
With nothing do to
Besides watching you
Watching the ripples in the water
Making the painted reflection waver
Watching the fish
Swim franticly; they don’t know what to do
Who are you?
They’re scared
Waiting for life to come back
And make you run again
Running in circles
Around the beauty of it all

Cup Of War Tea

Post by Blaze » Mon Mar 17, 2003 8:43 pm

Cup Of War Tea

Presi Bush, just look at Saddam
And sip your cup of tea
"How does this sound?
You want to try peace?"

He'll just look at you
He's ready for war
"Uh, I dunno.
I guess, sure."

He'll just go back to Iraq
And join the Peace Corp.
He'll be so sweet and innocent.
God, Presi Bush, you're such a frikin dork.

Just go ahead
Attack him, will you?
Just make it worse
We care too.

He'll just attack back
Hell, all you see
Is that he's using nuclear weapons
As you'll stare at the news, sipping your tea

Hear my roar, presi bush
Saddamn isn't the only one against you
The people of America and every where else
Are against you too!

Don't

Don’t look at me now
Don’t watch me cry
The tears of my life

Don’t take my hand
And say you understand
I don’t want you too
I just want to hold on to you

Sweet, Sweet Love

Post by Blaze » Tue Mar 18, 2003 12:56 pm

Sweet, Sweet Love

There was a girl
Working in a store
She watched a man
Walk in the door

He was kinda tall
He looked kinda sweet
The type of man
That she would want to meet

But she thought, “Sweet, sweet love
Don’t hit me now
Don’t grab my heart
And twist it all around.

You’ve hurt me before
Don’t hurt me again
Don’t ruin my life
Making me fall for him.”

There was a girl
Walking in the park
The Moon was out
Only light in the dark

She saw a man
In the moonlit night
She knew this man
They had been in a fight

Now he walked up to the girl
Said that - he was waiting for her
Said - he was sorry for what he did
Would she forgive him

She looked at this man
She had loved him so long
But did he really want to be forgiven
For what he did wrong

She thought “Sweet, sweet love
Don’t hit me now
Don’t grab my heart
And twist it all around.

You’ve hurt me before
Don’t hurt me again
Don’t ruin my life
Making me fall for him.”

And now I look at you
And I - don’t know what to say
You asked me for my heart
And if - I would stay.

I don’t want to lose you as a friend
I don’t know if I love you
But as I stare into your eyes
My love for you grew

But I thought, “Sweet, sweet love
Don’t hit me now
Don’t grab my heart
And twist it all around.

You’ve hurt me before
Don’t hurt me again
Don’t ruin my life
Making me fall for him.”

There was a girl
In a rock star band
She looked at the crowd then
Walked up to the mic, and

She sang, “Sweet, sweet love
Don’t hit me now
Don’t grab my heart
And twist it all around.

You’ve hurt me before
Don’t hurt me again
Don’t ruin my life
Making me fall for him.”

Sweet, Sweet Love (revised and better)

Sweet, Sweet Love (revised and better)

There was a girl
Working in a store
She watched a man
Walk through the door

He was kinda tall
He looked kinda sweet
The kind of man
She would want to meet

He grabbed a bag of chips
And walked up to her
He asked her how much it cost
She said,"A dollar. It's a dollar store, sir."

He looked into her eyes
And asked,"Will it cost me a dollar to take you out tonight?"
She laughed at him
And said it just might.

But she thought, "Sweet sweet love
Don't hit me now
Don't take my heart
And twist it all around
You've hurt me once
Don't hurt me again
Don't ruin my life
through all I've been."

There was a girl
Walking in the park
Moon was out
Only light in the dark

She saw a man
In the moonlit night
She knew this man
They had been in a fight

Said - he was waiting for her

Tall and sweet
At a dollar store

Don't hurt my again

Through all I've been."

She used to work at a dollar store
But now she had a mic in hand

And she sang, "Sweet, sweet love
You've hit me now
I gave you my heart
And you twisted it all around
You hurt me before
But you didn't hurt me again
Thank you sweet love
For making me fall for him!"

Birthday

Post by Blaze » Fri Mar 21, 2003 8:47 pm

Birthday

It was my birthday today
And I had a lot of fun too
Turning 13 was so awesome
My pride in myself grew

That night was the pancake supper
Supporting the school's AG
My friends called me in
And sang happy birthday to me

I laughed at them and was a little embarrased
People that I didn't even know joined in
Nothing could go wrong
Not right then

Then an old man stopped me as I walked by
He had a hat on and a pair of jeans
A plaid shirt and he had wrinkles in his face
He didn't mean harm by any means

And he said, "Remember this moment
It'll only be for one day
Only once will it ever happen
Don't let the memory fade away

Right now you can't wait until your 16
Getting your driver's liscense and all
Trust me though
When you get older, you'll wish that you were still small

One day you'll be 22
The next minute you'll be 30
Then suddenly you'll be old and tired
Just like me

So just remember this day
The day you become a teen
The only day in your life
That you'll be exactly 13."

Flower

We give a flower the power
To show what it does know
About if a he loves a she, or even a me
He loves me. He loves me not.

Dad... Please Understand

Post by Blaze » Sat Mar 29, 2003 9:47 pm

Dad... Please Understand

Why can’t you understand
What I’m trying to say
Why can’t you accept
What I do everyday

Why do you get so frustrated
When I tell you what I did
Or what I thought
Or what I said

Why do you try to make ME understand
When you are the one that needs too
Understand that I can’t
Until you do

You’ve never hit me, no
But you might as well have
I don’t know if you deserve the right
For me to call you Dad.

Love

I love
my family and friends. I've been loved
by my ex boyfriends. I'm loving
one of my best friends. I wonder if he loves
me back.

--- I'm trying an expirement with past tense verbs. Like the poem "Fly" that I did.
