<a name="#015">Spark</a>

Life is but a fleeting moment,
(in eternity)a spark
How wonderous that moment,
for it can light the dark.

A single spark fans to a flame
A flame becomes a fire,
that sheds a light upon the world
to cherish and admire...

Gargoyle's Tears

Post by triciabee » Mon Mar 11, 2002 11:35 pm

<a name="#016">Gargoyle's Tears</a>

The tears of an ancient gargoyle,
perched on a ruin's wall,
frozen there by nature's hand,
condemned to never fall.

The gnarled and eerie features
of it's stony, staring face,
though worn by time, still give us pause
in this cold and lonely place.

What ancient craftsman fashioned this,
what nightmare caused his mind,
to give this creature angel's wings,
then deem it's face unkind ?

What spiteful muse did whisper
and guide the maker's hand
to loathesome brow, to leering grin
and evil crouching stand ?

Eyes that only seem to glare
in anger at the fate,
that gave it only ugliness,
then made it sit, and wait.

In cold eternal silence,
it's tears the only trace,
of a soul forever hiding,
the truth, behind the face.

Hymn of the Whales

Post by triciabee » Tue Mar 12, 2002 8:34 am

<a name="#017">Hymn of the Whales</a>

Went off for a sail one evening
as dusk took her final bow.,
seeking some peace for my spirit,
away from the here and the now.

Welcoming dark's flawless blanket,
crescent moon tucked under earth's chin,
stars holding quiet sage council,
far above and beyond the world's din.

I sat staring into the blackness,
almost grateful for nothing to see,
all alone (so I thought) in the silence,
just a boat on the ocean and me.

Then a song, so clear sweet and vibrant,
free of all debt, of all sin,
swelled from the depths of the ocean,
awakened my soul from within.

It rose like the prayers of a child,
golden innocence offered to sky,
each crystal note singing praises,
in the echoes I heard angels cry.

In my mind I envisioned the singer
(a mermaid or siren of old)
my eyes sought the mythical creature
of the tales that the old sailors told.

I fumbled for words to this music,
could I offer up so sweet a prayer,
when out of the waves rose the singer
and he paused when his eye caught me there.

Eyes locked, I gazed into creation,
and heaven gazed back from that depth,
spellbound and in awe of this vision,
afraid to take even a breath.

Time paused in this place,in the stillness,
then as one we both turned to the sky,
each offering silent communion,
to the power that watched from on high.

The singer then left, but his song stayed,
echos etched, deeply into my soul,
I turned and sailed home to the daybreak,
with a heart now at peace, and now whole.

Come Away

Post by triciabee » Thu Mar 14, 2002 7:29 am

<a name="#018">Come Away</a>

As the fog rolls in from the ocean
standing here, all alone, by the bay,
gulls call, from the mist, whispers beckon,
come away, come away, come away.

In the city, noise glitters behind me,
growling engines, harpy horns scar the day,
people fade in and out of each other,
join the fray, join the fray, join the fray.

Laughing waves grasp for land as the tide ebbs,
moorings moan as the boats gently sway,
then the mist crowns the moon with a halo,
won't you stay, won't you stay, won't you stay.

So I linger to savor these moments,
in the fogs fragile magic by the bay,
one last look, one last touch, one last echo
come away, come away, come away....

Spring Break

Post by triciabee » Mon Mar 18, 2002 9:53 am

<a name="#019">Spring Break</a>

Spring swung into town for a visit,
looking 'round for a nice place to stay,
grass cooed, here's a soft spot m'lady,
snow scowled as it's crust drooped away.

Trees clattered in anticipation,
dormant limbs felt the flow of rebirth,
the breezes grew warmer and softened,
as the frost groaned and popped in the earth.

Birds sang just a little bit sweeter,
windows yawned in the freshening air,
people smiled, stepping out in sunshine,
jackets hung, in a snit, on the chair.

Spring sighed, just today, I can't linger,
soon the time will be right, I'll be back,
the sunset reflected her promise,
winter growled as he started to pack.

Touch of spring fever here last Thursday...sorry gang, got the best of me !!!

Time-wise

Post by triciabee » Mon Mar 18, 2002 1:00 pm

<a name="#020">Time-wise</a>

Tick tock tick tock, tick
hands move round a face
tick tock tick tock, tick
is life just a race ?

tock, tick tock tick tock
catch a moment so rare
tock, tick tock tick tock
save some time to care.

tick tock tick tock, tick
reflect on this little thought
tick tock tick tock tick

Facing Forward

Post by triciabee » Sun Jan 19, 2003 7:58 am

<a name="#021">Facing Forward</a>

Yesterday's sorrows
why do we go back
dwelling in pictures
charcoal on black.

Tears lost in rivers
of times long ago,
dark muddy waters
of I told you so.

Sighs, ghostly hauntings,
grind slowly away,
destroying the gifts
of now, of today.

Turn your face forward
away from the past,
learn from it, move on
the future is vast.

Today is a gift
life's painted for you
breathe it in slowly
and treasure the view

Wolfen

Post by triciabee » Sun Jan 19, 2003 6:21 pm

<a name="#022">Wolfen</a>

Amber eyes
glowing wisdom
of the ages.

Scan the skies
reading heaven
lordly sages.

Haunting cries
calling council
moonlit stages.

Heartbeat flies
in this spirit
freedom rages.

Man denies
superstition
kills or cages.

All his lies
fill a book of
soiled pages.

Nature sighs
losing balance
battle wages.

Compromise
spare the victims
wild courageous.

for the wolves, the wild..
for us all...

War Cries

Post by triciabee » Wed Jan 22, 2003 7:52 pm

<a name="#023">War Cries</a>

Tears from old battles
that rage deep inside,
a war
of the soul
and the sense.

Yesterday gone, now
a fog of denial,
it's wounds
have left scars
of defense.

Today dawns with promise,
decisions are made,
love lies
on the field
of regret

Tomorrow has reached out
a handful of dreams,
your cynical laughter
it's echo and clatter
that sought just to shatter
all that once mattered
is gone...

Tears from old battles
(no war's ever won),
are wept now,
redeeming
all debt.

The Walls

Post by triciabee » Thu Jan 23, 2003 11:06 pm

<a name="#024">The Walls</a>

Today

I felt them
closing in
(The walls)

(The walls)
I thought
They were my friend

Place of comfort
Haven safe…
When..?
How..?
Could they
Did they
Alter states….

Surrounding
Me without
A sound

Surrender…(no)
My thoughts
resound

Escape…??
Would it ...
Could it ...
Be
Possible…?

A door,
A crack
Some point of
Attack…

Just a small
Hole
Please…
A small start

Desperate the prayer
From the
panicked
Heart………

Maybe …
Tomorrow… ?
NO…!

Find a way
Release
(The Will)
destroy
(The walls)
…today

The Repairs

Post by triciabee » Sat Jan 25, 2003 8:52 am

<a name="#025">The Repairs</a>

I watched
from the doorway
as you worked on that old backhoe
bent over,
sorting through the parts
covered in grease.
You stood up
slowly
back stretching
I could see it complain,
could almost touch
the pain,
the scar there
from the surgery
stark against your tan.

You winced
looked down at your hands
covered in the grease
and oil, black
and worn,
tired, calloused,
you took a rag and wiped them
slowly,
for a moment you paused
turning you hands
as if seeing them
for the first time

You shrugged and
brushed your brow,
a trace of your labor
left there for the
sun and sky to reflect upon
then once again
you bent over,
hands seeking,
some innate knowledge in them
knowing where to go
how to put it all
back together.

I watched
from the doorway
marveling at all you knew
amazed at your patience,
understanding as I stood there
that the man
who never thought his hands
would ever be clean enough,
who never believed
all I believed,
would feel pride
when this job was done,
this long and lasting labor
of love...

Dreamcatcher

Post by triciabee » Sun Jan 26, 2003 7:42 am

<a name="#026">Dreamcatcher</a>

Dreamcatcher,
hanging
in my window,
wonderous fragile
web,swaying
as the feathers
catch a breeze.

What have you
caught,
what mystery
is woven admidst
the shells and stones
of restless
random thought.

Was this night
long,
did you shield
my mind
save my soul
with your magic,
spirit dweller.

Dawn brings the
sun
Winsome rays
cast your shadow
here on the pillow
where I lay
slumbering, in golden
sweet repose.

Free Thought

Post by triciabee » Tue Jan 28, 2003 8:49 am

<a name="#027">Free Thought</a>

What...
was that,
I just had it
(a thought)
it flew
beyond my grasp
although I tried
so desperately
to
hold it
capture it
pin it
here,
like some exotic butterfly.
But...
are not butterflies
more beautiful
in flight
lending
bits of color
to delight,
and so...
like that
I set a thought
free...
