I Want Insanity

Post by cglabb » Sun Jul 07, 2002 8:27 pm

I Want Insanity

i've been looking for insanity
to no avail

i've surrounded myself
with deranged friends
and visit my family daily
hoping they will act
as a catalyst
they only provide frustration

i'm drinking more than usual,
hunting for a breakdown,
nothing yet

i've re-read psychology books
and practice symptoms
of abnormal behavior
to make them stick

all this
for one purpose

to be locked
in a padded room
so i can
scratch myself
and write
without interruption
away from the incessant
bullshit

Untitled

we walked out
of the movie theatre,
everyone ooh-ing and ahh-ing

she asked me and i said,
"yeah, it was alright"
"you don't know how to feel,"
she says
"i could see it coming
a mile away," i said
"it's based on a true story"
"yeah, that's what i mean"
"then you should have known
how sad it would be"
"no,it's loosely based
and i felt the director
pulling harp-strings"
"It's called artistic license,
you insensitive shit,
can't you just enjoy it!"
i said, "i sat through it,
didn't i"

i would've had to leave her
if she had seen the tear
racing down my face
at the end

New Millennium

Post by cglabb » Thu Sep 12, 2002 9:20 pm

New Millennium

He looks at the calendar
and rushes around
getting everything in order
for the New Millennium

he get's up an hour earlier
to make two pots of coffee
and check rations
awaiting the New Millennium

he stands naked
in front of the washing machine
as his one set of clothes
prepare for the New Millennium

he's shaved his head
and eats delivery food
while the tv is left on CNN,
waiting for the New Millennium

he's given notice at work
and the car is running
in the driveway,
anxious for the New Millennium

he's severed ties
with woman and family
and let the dog out for good,
getting ready
for the New Millennium

he's read all religious books
and prepares answers,
grooming himself
for the New Millennium

he masturbates in the shower
and eats while on the toilet
so he won't miss a thing
in the New Millennium

he has a stowed revolver
with one bullet
in case he is alone
in the New Millennium

This is the End

Post by cglabb » Fri Sep 13, 2002 7:05 pm

This is the End

the studio exec's
couldn't have known
what his reaction woud be
piss or puke on the gold disc
were his inherent options
but he was young,
forever would be

drugs, drink
and many more women,
he would never find
his boundaries
respect, admiration
and freedom were his
he wanted all
and none of them

ode to him;
"This is the End"
simply proclaiming
a dead relationship
which was misconstrued
as the death knell

now fettered
and smiling,
he plays three shows nightly
and the firey crowd
always boo's,
driving him deeper
into himself-
better than Vegas

She's Gotta Be...

Post by cglabb » Sun Sep 15, 2002 2:50 am

She's Gotta Be...

she's gotta be a teenage anthem,
gorgeous face contoured
by dripping
auburn hair
a goddess of words
and when she speaks
men and boys hush

men and women wished
these words would go on,
but she spoke succinctly,
quick and thoughtful

men became unsure of themselves
and boys
just grabbed a dictionary,
women, well,
they already knew

i sit in a chair
with arms resting
and clasped hands
looking at her picture

she can't reply
and i am still
in the really real world

so,
with her words and thoughts
yet to come,
she will become
a modern day anthem

Affirmation

Post by cglabb » Mon Sep 23, 2002 2:26 am

Affirmation

life
and it's glittering fulfillment
i'm paralyzed to the bone
yet i grapple with the wind
knowing i must write the words
alone

When is the New Sound?

Post by cglabb » Thu Sep 26, 2002 8:34 pm

When is the New Sound?

i watched the music awards show
and realized if a bomb
was dropped
on this building
all we would lose
is another bomb

we were in the car
and the most infurious
lack of talents ranted
through his mother

i pointed my patented
finger gun
at the radio
and let the air bullet fly

now the car
is divided;
pro finger gun-2,
anti-3
and my five year old
was on the anti-side

the top 40
is the back forty
and everything else
is waiting to be bought

i don't think
i'll have kids again
until the coasts
are clear
of tripe and debris

Small Circles

Post by cglabb » Tue Oct 01, 2002 8:55 pm

Small Circles

watchining her eat a plum
as she sorted
through the mail

rubbing her nose
with the palm
of her hand
in small circles
instead of scratching it

the improv's of people
she'd met in her day
done with an uninhibited tone
to the rolling laughter
of me on the floor

her hair and face
combined
in a picturesque
moving painting

she see's me
no more
but tries
to find me
from time to time

she has no knowledge
there are words
being created for her,
alone

definitions,
yet to be aligned

Not Qualified to Die

Post by cglabb » Sat Oct 05, 2002 8:39 pm

Not Qualified to Die

we were excited as sheep
at the slaughter-house door,
not knowing
what was beyond it

everyone wanted to be next,
it was only a small island war
but the possibilities
for bloodshed
or to do some damage
...aawwwhhh!

robots on parade,
a euphoria only known
to robots
and those who had
already killed for the gov't

i later talked
to an aquaintance
who was in the para-military

he thought we should not
have been there from the start,
"you're not qualified
for this," he said

i thought about it carefully
and hoped guys like him
would take the bullet
for us all

Modern Day Psych 101

Post by cglabb » Mon Oct 07, 2002 8:16 pm

Modern Day Psych 101

it's the person
never given full attention,
always pushed aside
for the louder, clean scrubbed,
shiny people

misunderstood
for the vocal awkward moment
that shows
who they really are;
normal,
uncomfortable,
vulnerable

the voice never heard,
run over by jealous tones,
social zealots and NEED

all things much more important
than the flesh
and pumping heart
next to them

the voice trails off
to introverted thoughts
until the shotgun blasts
and mcdonald's is closed
for the day

The Blue Light

Post by cglabb » Sat Oct 12, 2002 10:02 pm

The Blue Light

we sat,
basked in the blue light
of a smoke filled bar
everyone thinking,
not one doing
a damn thing

someone touches me
and i pause
i'm almost saturated,
but not enough

the women here need
to be layed
and the men need it
even more
drinks all 'round
hold off
the definite confrontation,
it's a slow boiler night

i'm quiet
i'm observing
not ready to talk

things will click,
synapse will fire,
but for now
the blue light is giving me a tan
and i love this new commercial...

It Lives

Post by cglabb » Sun Nov 03, 2002 1:21 am

It Lives

At night
the birds stop singing
and find a safe place

At night
the house is quiet

The artificial light
is cold,
cold as my hands and feet

My stomache is sour
from drink, no dinner,
arguements
and unfinished sentences

At night she moves like
a ghost,
almost translucent

Jokes and laughter
cannot stir this thick
house air

I step outside into freezing cold
and see my breath,
confirmation of the living

My appendages don't seem
as cold
and I throw a fallen apple
at my neighbors house

I hear a crack of vinyl,
I'll pay for that
in the morning

A plume of vapor exits
my mouth
I'm still alive

Burroughs Was Right

Post by cglabb » Thu Nov 07, 2002 10:06 pm

Burroughs Was Right

Toe-to-Toe
with a crackhead
at 3am

He came into
the parking garage
pandering to the naive
with well rehearsed trials
of his life

I had
the 12-8am slot

I dropped the word POLICE
and watched
as he transformed
into the desperate scum
he was

It was either the axe handle
tucked away
or Hartford's finest (laugh)

He said slowly,
"You call the cops
and we're gonna have a problem"
He reeked of a species
knowing death is soon

After staring each other down
for awhile,
he quickly disappered

Burroughs was right,
"Too many People"

We Live to War

Post by cglabb » Sat Nov 16, 2002 9:55 pm

We Live to War

"To tempt danger is to gamble
with your life,"
someone said,
or something close to it

We live to war-
war, war, war

She looks at the switchblades
and larger cutlery
I've brought out

"He's gonna kill me, dad,"
she says on the phone

Some sent from Italy, Germany,
Pakistan

"We're gonna get Anthrax
for sure," she says

My pulse quickens every time
I open
this large crate
and gaze at these
dormant killers

"You couldn't collect
baseball cards!"

We live to war-
war, war, war

Yeah, a bad choice
on my part

Nurture (if offensive tell me and I'll move it)

Post by cglabb » Thu Nov 21, 2002 9:19 pm

Nurture (if offensive tell me and I'll move it)

Our big blue marble racing
'round and 'round
and we mortals feel a slight
breeze
or more horrific winds
from time to time

Aero-dynamics,
that's why everything fits, flows
and our feet can only jump
so high

Stuck to the terra-firma
by gravity, whatever

I wish the earth was shaped
like a big tit
I know the wind would blow harder
and seasonal changes complicated
and weather persons useless
but to think of the lines
there would be
to the nipple...awh,
and everyone in line meeting
everyone else
to talk about it-

Women would be GOD'S!

And our children, mouths open,
knowing there is no better life
than to nurture
the masses
