Immaturity.
When darkness descends silently
upon the city centre squares
Teen agers hang out and meet their friends
To discuss their own affairs
They have a culture of their own
Which adults do not understand?
They do no harm if left alone.
Although they can get out of hand
In their youthful exuberance.
They strut their stuff, try to impress.
for some it is the only chance.
That they will get to express.
Their views in public openly.
Where they are sure of sympathy.
Not have them dismissed out of hand.
By adults who can’t understand.
Because they’ve chosen to forget
when they were young and foolish too
They did things they now regret
A process which we all go through.
So cut the kids a little slack.
They will grow up eventually.
If you’re honest looking back.
They’re no worse than we used to be.

Re: Whose Immaturity?
A nice reflection Ivor, although I'm not sure I can agree with this line:
. They're settling their after school disputes with Uzi's now. They’re no worse than we used to be.
