Death, my mistress
Let down your raven hair
For the valley slumbers in the summer heat
And you don’t want to go down there
Though dark be the night of this new moon
And deep be your thoughts, like a wise sage
Let the people sleep in the valley tonight
Cool your head from your dark rage
And rest with me tonight
Life, my wife
Spring from your fall in this summer breeze
As the valley awakens from its winter freeze
I so wish to stroll with you
For green are the hills rich with your touch
Oh how I want to feel you so much
But death creeps above in her cape so dark
I fear she will take you and kill your spark
Rest with me tonight
My children of the sky
How you live and how you die
Depends upon your mother’s kiss
Else each of you should go amiss
And fall to the arms of death
She beckons from her broken place
To remove from us your love and grace
And pull you down from your lofty height
From sunlit clouds to a place of blight
Come, rest with me tonight
The darkness spins its shifting shadows
Quickly fleeing any sign of light
While life and death vie to win my favor
My darlings, rest with me tonight
