Deeply saddened, I look inside me...
I harbor so much bitterness,
Anger of past injuries
And too prideful to believe or accept
The discontentment of where I am,
Who I am, what I am...
(oh, what a wretch I am) right?
Overtaken with joy, when I look to Him...
And I know the price for my iniquities
It's paid in full
The ultimate sacrifice,
The cross He carried for me
The blood he spilled for me,
To wipe my slate clean
"thank you" doesn't say enough...
But I fight still,
With the trespasses I thought I forgave...
I fight still,
With the expectations of self...
And all I can do
Is shed a tear,
For the great divide inside
Overtakes me with fear...
It seems to me
That I stand at a crossroads
But I'm at a dead stop,
Unwilling to step another foot
Don't want to go wrong
Yet too lost
In anger, pride, and self pity
To see any other way...
But I know inside
That this is only a portion
Of His majestic plan
And my heart is willing
To learn and grow
Even when my mind
Is playing devious tricks...

Re: The Great Divide Inside
Jolene, Remember, God's daily strength will see you through. Lean on Him when satan tries to steal your joy and tell you lies. I know you are a good person and Jesus loves you. I heard about the tornadoes doing damage in the south, so I pray you and yours escaped unharmed and that your town and family are safe. I pray that the people who's homes were destroyed will get the help to rebuild. And those families that lost loved ones will feel God's loving arms around them through their tragic loss. I know God grieves for what we on earth go through. But when we seek comfort from Him, He is quick to respond and lets us know we are not alone. Take care and stay safe. Think of me and others here on poetry pages as your extended family.
