Oh, what a blessing
To wake up and see,
The gifts of the day,
God has waiting for me.
The sun on my face
As I open the door.
The breeze of a kiss,
And a whole lot more!
The gifts of the day,
Are there for you, too.
Some hidden under wrappings,
Waiting for you.
So, in spite of whatever
You're facing today,
God has a gift there,
Hidden away.
P.S. By my actions, Lord I pray,
make me someone's gift today.

This is just a reminder, because I'm not saying anything you don't already know and practice in your daily lives. I'd like to think we are all God's gifts to each other, by the love we show to one another. A friendly smile, a hug, a phone call to a shut in, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand. So many more little kindnesses that don't cost us a dime. And especially during this holiday season, being God's gift to someone else by sharing yourself can uplift spirits and go further to spread the Christmas spirit than an expensive gift. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you all!

Yes, Travis! How true. Many days our gifts are left unopened because we don't see them. As you say, they are covered in ashes. I think all of us have experienced this so many times. Lately, I have been discouraged because of what a family member remarked about me still writing poetry (at my age!). And I began to doubt myself. Was he right? Then my self confidence started slipping. But shortly after that, as I was at bingo, this idea of writing a bingo poem came to me. ( I know now it was from God reassuring me that, at any age, I could still write poetry. ) And by letting me know, that was His gift to me. So when my self confidence starts to slip again, I know to whom I can turn to recover it!
