Awake

Post by bags123 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:58 am

Awake

Sometimes I'll sleep, and sights before me seem
As if they'll only linger while I dream
Awake, they'll never see the light of day
Each rising sun burns all such thoughts away

Disarming the alarm clock that I hide
I'll slip inside my slippers for a ride
Downstairs to where my coffee waits for me
Unless of course that day I'd rather tea

Sometimes I'll eat, but usually I won't
It's not that I can't eat then, but I don't
Most mornings my appetite is lacking
Midnight is the time I do my snacking

Awake some things are harder just to say
More difficult than dreams last night conveyed
I prefer to keep an open mind,....but not so much that my brains fall out.- Carl Sagan

I love this one, bags. Probably because I've been there. Holding on to those dreams is frustrating. Especially when I could have gotten a poem out of them! Funny and a great read. And it is different from what you regularly post.

Thanks for reading Darlene. My coffee's getting cold so I've got to go. LOL

I'm just about to go to McDonald's and have mine. A small coffee is free today! And I like their coffee. Of course, I'll also have a sausage burrito and hash browns. :)

I think McDonalds has the old Tim Hortens coffee blend now. My wife got one of those Kuerig coffee machines awhile back,...makes good coffee,...but those little coffee cartridges are as expensive as #$%@! We go through 3 boxes a week sometimes. My wife is a much bigger coffee drinker than I am. :?:

McDonald's does have the best tasting coffee! Much more flavorful than Jack's Place. Thanks for letting us know what brand you think they use. I've never heard of it before, nor seen it in the grocery store! I don't want to buy a Kuerig though. I just want a can of that coffee! Did you know that you can buy those little reusable inserts for those coffee machines and put in your own coffee? That would save you money. You can buy them at places like Walgreens or CVS.

We tried one a couple months ago. Didn't fit properly, and when the coffee came out it also came through the sides. :badword: :soapbox:
