Looking For God
Author buddahead... http://www.poetrypages.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28715

How do I see the eyes of God?
What must I do, to find His Face?
I’m told I need to search within.
I get discouraged, looking for Grace.

Mountains, and oceans, and forest mist,
Anyone can feel God, in places as such!
What about where the street smells like piss?
That dope dealer’s eyes don’t see God much!

A pious little twit, comes walking out of Church.
Sees a homeless woman; and gives her a wide berth,
Avoiding eyes looking away; not a kind word to say.
That son of a bitch thinks, he’ll inherit the earth!

The common religions, all claim God’s Will.
They project their fear, with narcissist hands.
Contradictory rhetoric doesn’t fill the bill!
They hide their guilt, behind God’s commands!

Where is God, in someone’s judging eyes?
Where is Divine purpose in everyone’s fear?
It’s hard to see God, inside of selfish lies,
God seems strangely silent in the midst of my tears.

I’m told that God dwells everywhere,
That I’ll find His footprints on all I see.
My spiritual journey, must lead somewhere!
I’ll search like hell, to find God… maybe!

In spite of my confusion, I’ll still persist.
There IS, this “Presence”, which speaks to me!
When walking these streets, I have to insist,
This Bus Stop Wisdom, for sure ain’t easy!

Dear God

Author despicability

Dear God, I wish to make amends.
I want to come into the light you shine
but don’t know where my darkness ends.
I’m finding the walls steepen each time I try to climb
and don’t know where to go from here.

Dear God, in asking, I hope you show the way
I’d try to make it on my own, yet that’s not worked so far.
Each dawn I think, I’ll do better. A dawn for a new day.
But I find my heart is weaker and the journey is too hard
Where did I go wrong?

My beliefs contradict what I wish to do
I don’t believe that Jesus was sent as saviour of us all
But I do, with all my being, want to trust in you
yet every time I start to try, I think I’m wrong, and fall.
And this is where I am.

Yet where I am is still a loss to me.
I wish I was confident that my belief was right.
I know I could be better and so not where I want to be
do I wish to save my soul, and come back in to the light?
All I do is fail…

Dear God, I wish to make amends
I want, with all my heart, to know the truth.
But I’m not sure where, when or even if this darkness ends.
And looking back all I see is a much wasted youth
from when I turned away from you.

Sing Me A Song Of Praise

Author Tom Watson

Bring me the words to glorify,
Bring me the heart that’s sanctified,
Lift my soul, if that’s Your will,
Make this world grow silent and still…

As my voice sings “Emmanuel,
Pour upon me the waters of Your well
Cleansing me, clearing my thoughts until
My hands lift to You from where I fell.”

Lead me from these shadowy halls,
Lead me to where Your angels call,
Until Your holiness is absorbed within,
And my praise may be lift again…

As my voice sings “Holy, holy, holy!
May my works bring You glory
As they whisper and shout Your story
In lyric and line…loving You wholly”

Let Your light so shine
With Your radiance divine
That all shadows will fall before
The power and glory that restores…

Once blinded by the darkness,
My eyes now witness
How Your love has a power that alone
Brings us from the valleys to Your throne,

As my voice cries out “Alleluia, alleluia,
How blessed we are now,
For Your glory rains each day
As Your word tells us how

To find peace in pain,
To find within loss, eternal gains;
To find the gift behind the loss,
To know the love Your peace cost.”

Lift my pen so I may stroke these words.
Empty my heart of what needs be heard.
Drip upon this ink Your everlasting love
Make this song glorify You above.

Tom Watson, 2008

Not An Epiphany

Author Leysa

I saw through the glass darkly,
the light hidden from my view,
until I opened my heart completely
letting God’s grace break through.

It was not a sudden epiphany,
no angel whispered in my ear,
but the understanding I sought
like spring’s first bloom did appear.

For everything there is a season,
and I found patience for the run;
I let myself breathe in the knowing
that the process had just begun.

I felt God’s gentle presence,
the navigator of my life’s seas,
showing me new directions
in a world with myriad possibilities.

The healing is not complete,
there are answers yet to find,
but the seeds have all been planted,
my course is realigned.

Hope is my mainstay,
courage, my new conviction,
faith leads me in thanksgiving
for God’s eternal benediction.
