A Study in Perspectives Pt. 3 (Accusing and Forgiving)
A Study in Perspectives Pt. 3 (Accusing and Forgiving)
The little girl, head hung in shame
Hides her tears, tries to hides her pain
Intruding fingers, thrust where they don't belong
He has no right to do this wrong
He says he loves her each and every time
Daddy's abuse continues with no reason or rhyme
The young woman goes from one man to another
(and sometimes back)
Her view of love, distorted, warped and completely cracked
She now hangs her head, caught in adultery
The accusing throng thrust fingers at her and point and scream
"He said he loved me," was all she would say
The angry mob grabs her, as the man silently slips away
He stands silently still as the noisy mob arrives
Rabbi, Teacher, Master, Messiah slowly raises his eyes
Bending down, His finger He thrusts
Once again into the dead lifeless dust
With an artist's precision He reveals the sins of each accusing soul
Tracing a little faster with the drop of each sinner's stone
His forgiving words and beautiful smile
Made her life, for the first time, all seem worthwhile
When she looked in the sand, she saw all along
He had been rewriting her lifestory into a wonderful song
As He brushed away her tears with fingers so kind, so real
She finally learned how, "I love you" is supposed to look and feel
The little girl, head hung in shame
Hides her tears, tries to hides her pain
Intruding fingers, thrust where they don't belong
He has no right to do this wrong
He says he loves her each and every time

I think it's marvelously put together. Perhaps it might fare better in the "mature" forum... it's possible people aren't expecting something with this kind of impact in the "general" area. Just a thought.

you forgive yourself by realizing that you are not perfect and that you are allowed to make mistakes you realize that if god forgave you and he is wiser than you or me so surely if he says you are forgivable then hey, he must be right

Well written and well spoken my friend.
A touching poem that reaches to the very soul, beyond mind, giving one the need to ponder the words, delaying any comment that would seem so insignificant in the magnitude of what you have written.

Wow....lump in my throat...
Poignant Gordy.
That has always been one of my favorite accounts in the gospels. I never thought of her possible past though. I also grasp that the your entire poem still occurs today.
