We Honor You Tom Watson

Tom Watson was a man who had the gift to write, and much of his works are about his Lord, Jesus. He lived, he loved, and he laughed -- felt pain and sorrow too, and left a great legacy with each of us. As a talented writer he would inspire and urge others to keep writing and to use their gifts.

Tom always took time to respond to a poem, to encourage and give struggling writers a lift. Tom was a gentle man, but when it was appropriate and the right time to give a firm word the Poetry Pages took notice, because Tom made sure his voice was heard. Everything Tom did was out of love and to send a message; he was a humble man, reaching out to the lost and lonely, he met others with an outstretched hand.

He had a heart for the down and outers, and respect for those in higher places. He remained humble and loved all mankind no matter what creed or races. Tom wrote many spiritual and inspirational poems, his heart was in all of them. As you read his poems you can’t help but notice the good person he was within.

Tom Watson was a simple man, who lived a quiet life -- yet spoke volumes through his poetry. Reading his work you know he loved Jesus, missed his wife, and loved his dog, he called his girl Tippy. Tom Watson will not easily be forgotten by those who knew him whether family or friends, and Tom was a friend to all he met.

Today he took his journey through blue colored skies, but his life didn’t end. His life continues in his poetry and the books he managed to put together, and he will not only be in the Poetry Pages but in the archives of our minds and hearts forever.

You’ve won the race dear brother, friend and fellow poet, having known you, we are blessed, so, not only will we grieve today, but rejoice with you also, for you’re safe in the arms of Jesus. We will remember that Tom Watson died but that he also lived and lives today In our memories and the gift of his poetry he shared and the love he sent our way.

I posted this originally in response to the topic in Open Discussion but I wanted to repost it here...I hope nobody minds too much...

Tom...you were a great friend and a true gentleman. Your love and compassion will be forever remembered and you will be greatly missed. I am glad that you've finally been reunited with your true love. I am keeping your family and friends in my prayers.

I have been away from the pages awhile. It's been a long time since I've talked to Tom and it saddens me to hear of his passing. I remember meeting him in the chat room we had eight years ago. It sounds ridiculous, but it really has been eight years since a naive thirteen year old me came to the pages in search of a place to foster my writing. I remember Tom being a kind, loving, and funny man. As, the post states he was never one to back down from jokes although he was quick to call you out for saying ignorant and stupid things. But I feel like I am rambling on and just repeating things that others more eloquent than me have already said.

What I really want to say is this: I hope Tom knows peace and kindness and love where he is right now.

Thanks Juko. He was an inspiration to many of us and remains so in our memories of him. 8 years seems like such a long time when you look back on it, but it is only a heartbeat in the grand scheme.

I AM WALKING THROUGH THE PAGES AND I FEEL LONELY IN HERE,
MISSING MANY WHO HAVE LONG GONE WHO TO ME WERE DEAR.
NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME AS I TIP TO AROUND,
IF FEELS SO QUIET AND OH SO PROFOUND.
I REMEMBER TIMES IN HERE WHEN WE ALL LOVED TO MEET,
WHERE POETS AND POETESS' WERE LOOKING FOR CRITIQUE.
WE SHARED AND READ WE JOKED WE LAUGHED WE CRIED,
WE WENT THROUGH STORMS AND SADNESS WHEN SOMEONE WE LOVE DIED.
TONIGHT I'M THINKING OF YOU TOM WATSON,
THE PAGES AREN'T THE SAME NOW THAT YOU AND OTHERS ARE GONE.
I'M GONNA TRY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND VISIT IN HERE MORE,
TO CRITIQUE, AND READ POETRY GALORE.
I PRAY GOD WILL GUIDE ME IN MY ENDEAVOUR AND ANOINT MY PEN,
AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE, POETRY PAGES WILL WAKEN UP AGAIN.
I WANT TO MEET THE NEW MEMBERS, BUT SEARCH FOR THE OLD,
I NEW WILL BE TO ME LIKE SILVER, AND THE OLD TO ME ARE GOLD.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE AND I SEND YOU A BIG HELLO HEINZ AND BERLIE,
BUT I AM BACK SO GET READY TO SEE MORE OF GODSPOETESS, YES THAT'S ME. :thewave: :hugs:
