SOLILOQUY

[Tom Watson]

The sun is shining, the wind whispering
The sea carrying all it can bring…
Washing the sand of a distant land
Where my toe digs holes in the land of a distant sand

The refreshing breeze carries scents
And aromas most certainly meant
To ease any burdened heart…
Most certainly meant to take pain apart…

A crab sides its way
Into the blowing spray
Idly feeding of the sands and rocks
Antennae dancing in their own little talk

The clouds I see are lingering wisps,
Tattered by the sky blue lips
Decorated by many a shore bird
Whose songs are one I once heard

While the cold box sat alongside
Contents calming from the long ride
Over a bumpy and winding road…
Best to leave be or they might explode…

Warmth and breeze, sun and wind,
So many things…where to begin
Just to see hear these in my own dream…!
My heart and soul could scream!

And I jump up to kick sand
Laughing at my friend, dodging behind a hand,
And chase her into a tidal pool
To fall and enjoy the cool…

The contents calmed now,
I pop the tops in the way I learned how
One, mixed with olives especially for me…
One for her as we enjoy our special soliloquy.
